Down at the Y-M-C-A!

Hello, hello, people of Fandom!

This post is for those of us who find getting interaction with other teachers or townies a mite difficult to do outside of Caritas or work posts. We, your esteemed and leather pants wearing admins, have given some serious thought to the possibility of a community center for people to use for adult education (no, not that kind), adult-centric clubs (again, not that kind you pervs), and basically good ways to garner interaction all around.

What we would like now is all of your input.

Just what would you like to see out of this? What sorts of activities would you like to see housed at this type of center? We only ask that you keep in mind the currently available facilities in town, but otherwise, please brainstorm away!

I'd love to see this happen and I'd definitely throw Summer and Arya into the fray more often. :D As for activities and such? ATM, I've got nothing to contribute but I'll try and think of something.

Many of these are swiped from the Open Forum post, because we had a cool brainstorming session going there.

- Bingo Night: we could get a gremlin to call the numbers out! Win fabulous prizes! Cheat your toes off!

- Casino Night: try to beat the house! Cash in your chips for fabulous prizes! Cheat even more of your toes off!

- Craft Fair: Can you make pretty things? Sell them! Or make un-pretty things and claim they're ART and no one UNDERSTANDS YOU.

- Continuing Education Classes: Alex would teach a very basic one about when you need a lawyer; lots of other people have wisdom to impart.

- Games Night: card games, board games, see above about winning prizes and cheating your toes off, if you have any toes left at this point!

- Community Service Day: everyone cleans up something in the warehouse district, or keeps the park neat, or something similar.

- Swimming Classes: at the gym. For anyone who can't swim.

- CPR Certification: you, too, can make out with a dummy!

- Internet 101: what these weird computers are and how to use them, for anyone from a world that doesn't have the tech shinies

- Cooking 101: how to not set your stove on fire.

... okay some of that bottom pile would be more "one-off classes" that go under Continuing Education BUT HAVE SOME SHINIES ANYWAY, OKAY?

These are all awesome.

Could also do fundraiser things for whatever - Spaghetti dinners are pretty popular around here. So are Silent Auctions.

And pulling from some things we've done before (which both were based on Gilmore Girls) - a dance marathon and an adults only picnic basket lunch auction.

A book club would be fun but could be difficult because of meta issues. A street fair with all the businesses putting out tables and having concessions and other fun things available.

I feel like we could probably gank some other ideas from shows like Gilmore Girls and Corner Gas since they are both quirky small towns.

More 3 minute dating things, but for adults only?

Wine tasting?

That's all I got right now.

Naked icons are really all I have to contribute, I'm afraid.

I have a ridiculous lack of shirtless icons compared to other people.

GUESS I JUST DON'T LIKE NAKED PEOPLE.
