Delirium's mania_endless ...Mania is the greek spirit/goddess of craziness, and Del herself is referred with that name by the Greeks. And Endless because duh, she is an Endless.

Jane's likexmasmorning ...the cutest best ever pick up line I've ever heard. Who doesn't want to be said that one looked like "Christmas Morning" by Brad Pitt? Huh? Any takers? Thought so.

trigons_child because Raven was supposed to be the only surviving child of Trigon the Terrible. The others were either never born (their mothers killed while pregnant or by suicide) or killed when still children. Until DC retconned her six brothers into existence. And made them embodiments of the Seven Deadly Sins. Oh, canon.

likesscoundrels because Leia likes scoundrels, duh. ;)

demon_cupid because Drake was born -- or, rather, hatched -- a demon, but he's all about loooooooooooove, so he should've been a cupid.

demonbelthazor because...his name is Belthazor and he's a demon. Yeah. I'm cool.

blessed_twice because Wyatt's birth was prophesied with "When three planets burn as one over a sky of dancing light, and magic will rest for a holy day to welcome a twice blessed child," which foretold Wyatt would be the most powerful magical being every to walk the Earth. At least until season eight. WTF.

never_thesun is the next line of "Under Your Spell." I wibbled a bit, because it's more a vamp username than a survivor username, but ... not like Vampire Island was a hot spot for tanning for anyone. And it kept the pattern. So nyah. (And yes, if I ever have to AU Tara again, the journal name will be on_myface.)

vampingangela and tyler_vamped were arrived at by the incredibly creative method of sticking the word "vamp" into the FH!verse username. Which makes me sad, in retrospect, that I didn't have occasion to make bittennotvamped or vamped_notshy for Jack.

Cassidy: nothornlessrose -- I think it was likethestore that suggested this name, actually. I was wanting a name that was in reference to both her Jewels and how she wasn't without her edges and showing her teeth when she needed to. I liked notathornlessrose for her, but it was too long and rosethrnedqueen was in use somewhere else. Also anything else I was coming up with sounded silly to me. She suggested that nothornlessrose would fit Cassidy both as a young girl and as the Queen she would grow into.

Chloe: awakestheghosts -- This one was relatively easy because it says so much about her. She's a Necromancer that brings bodies back to life, and she seems to wake up ghosts and see them when no one else does. It just was a perfect fit for her. I think it's my favorite user name that I've come up with for one of my characters.

Annja: spiritandsword -- She's the spiritual descendant of Joan of Arc... and she has her sword. It's a much nicer name than her original of annjaofthesword.

Gwynn: notafairmaiden -- In canon, Gwynn wants to be anything but a lady and stay at home. She doesn't want to be a maiden fair, she wants to be a fighter for what she believes in. Unfortunately, the name I REALLY wanted, byreasonofmygender (a phrase she uses on Phillip when he tries to give her his horse she was going to steal) was too long I was having a hard time coming up with other user names for her. notamaidenfair was taken and in desperation she ended up with notafairmaiden.

Savannah: walks_two_paths -- Savannah's mother was a witch and her father was a sorcerer. She has the powers of both and can do both witch and sorcerer spells... so, pretty much, she's balancing two paths of magic and walking two paths of life. Her trying to balance the lighter witch spells with the darker sorcerer spells has come into play a lot with her, and will even more so now that she's set loose on the world. :D

Phoebe: sensethevisions -- Phoebe is an empath that senses emotions and she has visions of the future and of the past. I'm really surprised that it took me so long to come up with this name for her since it is pretty much perfect.

daughterofpower was Savannah's fh_wishverse journal and I believe that I used that one because I had used it for her at a now defunct prompt community. It made sense to recycle.

vampiricranger was Gwynn's fh_wishverse journal because it amused me to no end that it hadn't been taken yet. She was a ranger that had been turned into a vampire, and was still being a ranger even though her targets had changed.

stayingfrosty - "Stay frosty" is a term Price uses, basically an order to his squad to stay cool and alert. A not-so-inventive journal name, no.

likes_chicken - Hugo Reyes. He likes that he likes chicken. That'll actually come up in his canon update that I will be writing tonight/tomorrow.

funnyways - From a quote by Tom Sawyer (He of the mean, mean pride). "My mother always told me European women had funny ways." He says this after seeing Mina suck the blood from a would be attacker who thought he had her captive at knifepoint.

Dimitri: guardian_god was actually the second potential journal I created for Dimitri. The first journal was a play on his love of Western novels and the leather duster and Rose's constant mockery of these things, but after I finished Shadow Kiss (that's the book we're catching up right now!) I couldn't handle a playful LJ name. The 'guardian' is clearly for the fact that he is one! The 'god' is because Mason and Rose share this encounter in Vampire Academy:

"You're putting in extra time with Belikov?"
"Yeah, so what?"
"So the man is a god."
"Exaggerate much?" I asked.
"No, I'm serious. I mean, he's all quiet and antisocial usually, but when he fights...wow. If you think you're hurting now, you're going to be dead when he's done with you."

I think it works pretty well for him and even went along with guardianborn's established username.

Barney: suit_of_awesome was me being uncreative, but it's totally true. Barney wears suits and they are AWESOME.

Clark: redandblueblur was because I lol and mock Smallville canon as much as I can. That's the nickname (sort of) that Jimmy Olsen gave the strange blur of color that kept fighting crime in Metropolis. I should've gone with bigdumbalien. =P

Griff: youcantfollow came to be because literally, you cannot follow Griff when he jumps. Except for in the movie when they rip the jumpscar and I honestly hated that particular change from the initial Jumper novel so much I insisted Griff's username negate it.

John missed_the_gate was originally ltcolkirk. I changed it about...I don't know when. A while ago. There was a poll even. It fits in that John differs a lot from canon and at the time, I didn't think he'd ever make it to Atlantis so he would have missed the gate quite literally, but he didn't! I should probably switch it back, but I like the visual appeal of missed_the_gate better for some reason.

She really dislikes the name "Marilla" (thinking that "Bertha", her first name, is ever so more romantic and pretty. Really, Rilla? Really?), but her brother Walter puns off of the name and calls her "Rilla my Rilla" as his own special pet name for her.

isntabitpretty is a direct quote from The Story Girl, actually, from an exchange between Sara's cousins Dan and Felix before Felix and Beverley (who's narrating the story, and it's so weird to have an L.M. Montgomery book told from a boy's first-person point of view):

"I wonder if the Story Girl is pretty," said Felix aloud.

"No, she isn't," said Dan instantly, from across the room. "But you'll think she is while she's talking to you. Everybody does. It's only when you go away from her that you find out she isn't a bit pretty after all."

It seems like a nice comprehensive little reference to a lot of who she is.

I actually do own kindofabrat but I decided I wasn't that fond of the name, plus the "in training" establishes that Kennedy's still just a Potential Slayer. I didn't even realize the pattern matched life_inshadow's username until someone pointed it out to me weeks later.

weetuskenraider: Tahiri's tiny and raised by a tribe of Tusken Raiders. That was simple. (I also own swimsinpain, from "Some people drown in pain. I just swim in it" from Enemy Lines 2: Rebel Stand, but that one's just weird.)
imofficialthen: Vampverse Tahiri. "I'm official then" is her awkward attempt at a joke in the Legacy of the Force books when Jacen tells her she's proven herself as his Sith apprentice.

ancientbschamp: As in "ancient B.S. champ," because I know it's kind of a weird one. Gabrielle's very first adventure after she meets Xena and decides to follow her is to get trapped in a cage by a blind Cyclops, and she makes up this insane story about how he has to let her out because she's on her way to find Xena and kill her horribly in revenge for something. When she does find Xena later on in that very first episode, she has to bluster her way through a speech to talk an entire village down from lynching the Warrior Princess. (In a continuing pattern I also own notcyclopsfood, which amused me but is far too specific to "Sins of the Past" for my liking.)

So she's really good at BSing. Therefore. ;)
bittenatarave: Vampverse Gabrielle. In the episode "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," Bacchae are the Xenaverse equivalent of vampires (they bite you and feed on your blood, you become one, they can only be killed by a shard of dryad bone through the heart, just go with it). Gabrielle wanders into a Bacchanal -- which looks exactly like a Goth rave, seriously -- and has this whole sexy blurry-cam dance scene with a bunch of Bacchae girls, and next time we see her she's a Bacchae. Oops?

thismaskiwear: Katchoo's signature poem, written when she was sixteen; you can find it in its entirety in her user profile. I think that's as much explanation as I need to give about this one.
child_of_rage: Vampverse Katchoo. Not only is "Child of Rage" the title of one of the SiP story arcs, it's completely fitting for Katchoo, vamped or not.

laceycantlie: Direct quote from Oscar Leroy in the episode "Whataphobia," as he informs Lacey that the entire town of Dog River knows she's a terrible liar. Which she is.

I explained Karla's the last time, but I really like it, so I'm c/ping it again. Nyah

glacial_witch (which, in my head, I often think is glacial_harpy, but I'll get to that) is a play on words. Karla's is a witch (and I don't think there's anyone in game who's missed that memo) from Glacia. The adjective form of that is Glacian, but Karla is described in the books as being very 'icy.' She's very pale, with white-blonde hair and ice-blue eyes, and wears dark blues and silver whenever she can. Plus, in canon, true anger is not hot, it's cold, and cold anger affects the physical world, leaving traces of ice and frost places. This has happened to Karla several times in Fandom. So it's just a pun based on her homeland, her temperament, and her physical appearance.

stalking_harpy, from the AU, is another play on words. It came from the first post I made, where Karla wandered around as bait, presenting herself as a stalking horse. In my head, anyway, it was her way of keeping vampire attention on her, instead of on the ritual happening elsewhere. However, Karla was doing a fair bit of stalking herself; part of her was out courting death due to survivor's guilt.

Also, in Kaeleeran terms, a Harpy is a witch who is brutally murdered by a male. They become some of the nastiest demon-dead there are; angry, hating males, violent, and cunning. I had worked it out with Sanna and Len before the BDE started that Leto and Ender would toy with her, and Karla honestly figured one of them would kill her sooner or later. She was looking forward to the point when she died and then rose again as a demon-dead Harpy.

Also, in canon, Saetan calls Karla a harpy at least once, because she's a little bitch. It's part of the reason I nearly named the LJ glacial_harpy. I made stalking_harpy thinking that I had, and like the symmetry.

Of all the imagery in Cinderella, the glass slipper is the most iconic. It's what transforms Cinderella from a peasant girl to a princess. In Fables, though, Cindy has become so much more than just a pretty face gracing Charming's arm. She's strong and skilled and deadly, and she's been tempered by her circumstances: her multiple failed relationships, the loss of the Homelands, her decision to become Bigby's spy. To me, that all adds up to the idea of 'steel' as a descriptor. So while her glass slippers may be the most icon part of her story, this version of Cinderella is made of much sterner stuff indeed.

notmyownage - I like to use quotes for my journal names, in this case, Claudia responding to someone telling her she should be with kids her age with "I'm not my own age." Other options were "inthebelljar" and "suckitmagneto"

lovemykilt - Priestly loves his kilt. And "ilovemykilt" was taken (alas!) But this one totally lent itself to some nice variations, like "hatesthekilt" for his mom and "lostmykilt" for the wishverse.

scruffnfeathers - As I recall, I went through, like, seventeen different options for Cass' lj name, most of which were either taken or too long. I think I also wanted to play off saltandammo, and, well, "feathers" is a long word, okay? There's no room for an a or a d.

superartie - Yeeeeeeeeah. This was, like, the second RP user name I created. Ever. Which lead to people thinking that that was Artie's actual name. Which is ridiculous. Who would call a superhero "Super Artie"? He's "Artie, the Strongest Man in the World". Duh. ;D

kissytheface was the final and best choice for Dandelion. Before that I had two other usernames which both centered around hating or not being a viking. Then while reviewing her canon again I noticed that she used "Kiss th' face!" as her closing statement whenever signed off at the end of every issue and went with that instead.

bigbadgunn came about when I was thinking about applying for Gunn last fall. It comes from the episode "First Impressions" where Cordy and Gunn are trying to find Angel's car and they run into a demon called "Deevak" who refers to him as "the big bad Gunn". I didn't even bother to look it up at first since it seemed like something someone would have snatched up. Then after banging my head trying to find a username I gave it a shot and couldn't believe my luck.

iknowstuff Layla Miller's catchphrase was so easy a target that I snagged it years before I would app her so I could keep it all to myself. MINE! I also stole other variants because I'm evil like that. (Besides it'll come in handy in future duplicate universes, right?)

famous_gut Gibbs's handle was pretty damn easy to come up with. If you sit down and watch the marathons of NCIS on USA the reference to Gibb's "gut" comes up at least once or twice in every other episode.

And on one occasion Ziva mentions that Gibbs has a six pack. I'm not asking how she knows this...


And because I just love the name:

cantjossme was for Mel Fray because it had been years since the Fray comic had been published and I was relatively assured that there would be no more canon. trickster_twin gave me the name and I stuck with it.

Then the Season 8 comic came along and lo and behold I was jossed. Which led to Mel appearing in the Vampverse as sogotjossed

The lesson of all this is that you should never tempt fate and choose a user name safely assuming you are free from post canon mucking of Joss Whedon. Ever.

Cara's my only newbie since last time, and her journal name is pretty much based entirely on the mental image of her having to explain over and over again to various Jedi that she wasn't a Sith, at least not that kind. Because that's the kind of thing that amuses me.

I did try coming up with some that were based more on Seeker canon, but the only one I really liked, rhymeswithtorture, was too long, woe.

I'm sure I've explained most of these the last time, but I'm too lazy to check and too bored to care!

raspberryturk is something of a double-whammy, both for the bright red shock of hair that Reno's got, and for, of course, his tendency to stick out his tongue. It's a Reno thing. Also, you know, he's a Turk.

furnaceface is pretty self-explanatory, really. I'd told myself that I was going to app either Jono or Angelo from Generation X, depending entirely on who I came up with a snappy username for first. Jono's popped into my head entirely randomly one evening, and so he won. Later, I found out that it's also the name for a geeky Canadian band>, and I just about peed myself laughing. *overshares*

puppy_fair Zack Fair. Who is frequently called a puppy. Seriously, I put a whole lot of thought into this one, you can tell.

shiroi_tiger was actually one of those ones that I chewed on for a while, because I knew there had to be some reference to the white tiger that Katsumoto compares Algren to, and I wanted to sneak some Japanese in there. So it was either going to be white_tora or this one, and Relly assured me that shiroi_tiger rolled off the tongue more nicely. I agreed and the rest is history.

not_a_parakeet was made back before I had even decided which incarnation of Warren I was going to app. I just knew that I wanted to app one, and in the comics, poor Warren frequently gets called things like "you overstuffed parakeet" (in a loving way) by his teammates. It still fit well enough once I'd settled on the movie canon, and so here it is.

Mine aren't terribly creative but I could use the mental break so here we go:

Claire: wantstocheer because at the canon point I pulled her from, she wanted to join the cheerleading squad at her new school and her dad wouldn't let her. Then she tried out anyway and there was a lot of drama around it. I also own walkedthrufire which I like a lot better but I had been using that elsewhere so. In the wishverse, she was nomorecheer because being trapped in a vampire-riddled Fandom wasn't very cheerful.

Joan: joan_notjane because her name is Joan even though Adam consistently calls her Jane. I couldn't come up with anything more creative than that.

Paige: angelandwitch because she is half angel (Whitelighter) and half witch.

Ashley: lovethenubbins okay, this one I am proud of :D In an episode of Sanctuary, there are these adorable fluffy creatures that Ash decides to call nubbins. They end up being a bit like tribbles in their capability to reproduce and in addition, they release some kind of phermones that make everyone horny. Ashley adores the nubbins and keeps one in her room. She also makes a comment to Henry "have you seen my nubbins" which leads to him staring at her chest. So it amuses me.

Chris: neurotic_witch because in canon, Paige refers to him as a "neurotic little freak" and that was too long for a username and he *is* a witch so it worked.

Veronica: marsheadtilt her first username was veronicamars1 because I was trying to make sure I snagged her when the game started. I changed it because that was super lame. Mars is her last name obviously and she is famous for using her headtilt to get people to do what she wants. In vampverse, she was vampyheadtilt because she was a vampire and still managed to get people to do what she wanted. I also own several other journals for her including mars_fbi and notbadassyet (which was a precanon Veronica).

chose_humanity is pretty simple: especially in the first season, Mitchell keeps asserting that 'humanity is what I chose'. The other vampires chose to live in the dark, feed off junkies and 'butcher their way out of society' (tm Mitchell), Mitchell chose to live among humans. And it is a choice, and a hard one to support.

hasthegirlballs comes from Bob Kelso's opinion on Denise in Scrubs season 8, after he tries to bully her with his medical credentials and she threatens to beat him up. "I like her," he says, "She's got girl balls!". Pretty much Denise in a nutshell.

unborn_renegade actually fit better back when Jak was still game-1 Jak. The 'unborn' was, in that case, both a reference to his confusing time-traveling birth story and to the fact he hadn't actually turned into Crazycakes Jak from game 2 yet. Renegade is the subtitle of the second game, and it's pretty much who he is, once he graduates from being Wide-Eyed and Silent.

on_her_korhal is a mixture of one of my favorite songs by a band called Krezip, 'In Her Sun', and the name of the militia group Kerrigan used to work for - The Sons of Korhal. If you hear the song, you might... get some of my thought patterns. Also, her vampverse name past_gettysburg is a reference to the Battle of New Gettysburg, a space platform in Kerrigan's galactic sector. In our regular FH!verse, she was left to die there by her superiors and taken by the Zerg; in the vampverse, she escaped that fate: she lived past Gettysburg.

spring_lost was, strangely enough, not actually meant to funtion as a mirror to mouthy_merc's username. It was a reference to Nate's original surname of Dayspring, as well as one to his old island, Providence, which was supposed to be a new spring for humanity, but wound up sinking into the sea. And it sort of references Milton. I can be sort of pretentious, shush.

endsthegame is... well, his name is Ender. His trademark is that he can put an end to a game by learning the rules and employing decisive action to completely screw those rules over. He's also done with games, so it works in that capacity, and it references the first book's title, as well as Bean's quote from Ender's Shadow where he ever-so-transparently tells everyone to shut up, buck up and listen, this is Ender's game. /rant As for endedthegame, well. That didn't take a lot of creativity.

And finally, because I still love it dearly, bitch_prince is a reference to an early but awesome Merlin fanvid called The Bitch Prince, which covers Arthur in all his bitchly glory. Rinoa had Alice's problem: I would think of fun, interesting usernames for Rinoa, and look them up, and ... they were already Rinoa journals, for someone else. Rinoa has certain themes to her -- the wings, white feathers, angels, her role as the Princess of the Timber Forest Owls, her position as a Sorceress -- and if you jam those into a blender, any result has long been taken for a Rinoa journal.

Angelo is her dog's name, though, and angelo_wings had a really neat flow to it. I worried that it would scan wrong, even with the underscore, but I liked it too much to care.

trickster_twin: Because in the NJO canon the Vong associated Jaina with their trickster god, and her twin brother with their slayer god, yadda yadda I've explained it before. I'm kind of tempted to change it, since she's over the canon where it actually applies, but I don't know to what. dontmakemeabughugger is too long.

whos_got_spirit: Because I am HILARIOUS. Adrian's a spirit user, that's where he gets all the cool powers (even if he doesn't know it yet). I originally had another journal for him, and I don't remember what, but it was just very meh, so I started trying to play on the spirit thing and I figured when this one made me lol, I was keeping it.

notavalleygirl: Because Kitty's Valley girl accent in the early episodes bugs the hell out of me.

can_be_more: I was in a rush the day everyone signed up for the game. It's a line from the very first Farscape episode, and while I always said I wanted to change it, I think if I haven't in five years, I'm keeping it.

fates_jaye: fates_bitch was taken. And again, I was trying to get her signed up for the game super super fast because for some reason I thought someone would snatch her up before me? Idk.

iruinenglish: Because Buffy does things to the English language that should never be done. Between the making up words and adding the suffix "age" onto everything for funsies, yeah.

I'm kind of proud of Jason's username because I usually fail at even vaguely creative usernames.

So, Jason was not a well-liked Robin, partly because the writers didn't even like him and partly because fanboys are kind of stupid sometimes. (Sorry guys!) There was a storyline where Jason found his birth mother, but it turned out that she was, as Sam would say, a twatwaffle who was being blackmailed by the Joker into working for him. She turned Jason over to the Joker and told him how Jason was Robin, which earned Jason a beatdown with a crowbar. Then, on top of that, he and his mother were trapped in a building and seemingly blown up, and at the end of that comic, there were two 900 numbers, one to call if you wanted Jason to live, and one to call if you wanted him to die. The fans ended up voting him off the island, until Judd Winick (*heavenly chorus*) came along and resurrected him. *pets Jason*
