It's that BDE-tiful Time of the Season
Ladies and gents of Fandom! Big Damn Event time is once again at hand!
On the night of Wednesday August 4th into Thursday August 5th, something is going to go terribly wrong with the island. The machinery underneath the school is, in a cosmic sense, the same machinery across all different versions of Fandom. Eventually, after a few hints during the week that something is not quite right, it will finally buck and fail under the pressure of being used so often recently across so many dimensions. The effects will be disastrous, cleaving the skies to bits and cracking the interdimensional walls that keep Fandom safely separate from the rest of the multiverse.
What will this mean for the island?
It means that parts of the island will begin disappearing into the multiverse - and other things will be pouring in through the holes left behind them. Fandom will lose many of its characteristic establishments, and suck in only nasties to replace them. The end of the line result? The destruction of the entire island!
At least, if things aren't stopped before they get out of hand. Townies and teachers will be able to volunteer their homes and places of work for the Great Black (and Temporary) Void; the entire island is going to be dealing with the interlopers and struggling for a way to fix the damage.
And for those of you with particularly sadistic tastes, your characters, too, can get sucked into a hole and temporarily vanish from the multiverse entirely, left in limbo until the island has been rescued from its fate.
But wait! There's more!
During the early breakage, some of Fandom's finest will be sucked through the crack in reality. Rather than be frozen in the void as will happen to later victims, these folks will find themselves thrown into one of three rather inhospitable worlds, which are also in danger from the gaping holes in reality. Their task, once they awake? To survive long enough to follow the cracks, figure out a way to fix the Fandom machinery, and get home before it's too late.
Your choices, which will be explained upon in greater detail later, are as follows: a barren, irradiated wasteland on the East Coast; a murky underwater base full of hidden danger-- or an abandoned coal mining town hiding its fair share of nightmares...
The BDE will wrap up on Sunday, August 8th. Keep an eye out for sign-ups and more details this week! Questions? Comments? Pie? (With marzipan on the top?)

Is it so wrong that my first thought upon noting the date and reading that was "Wow, wouldn't it just suck for Anakin to have Leia get vanished on her birthday?"
But I'm not that mean.
Maybe.

... since when?

Uh. I ask this just out of being curious, yes. O.O

So in essence, this is a way to get one of your characters off the map for the rest of the plot, if you'd like to be concentrating on others - or get them some 'what happened to my missing days' trauma.

Now, I only have to figure out how this works with all the canon plottiness I have planned.

That is all.

When you say that establishments are going to disappear - do you mean that there will like suddenly be a huge black hole where, say, Caritas used to be? And when the plot is over, would it re-appear?

This is too very awesome and it's a time when I'll have time to play and yeah, I'm kinda stuck on OMG.
Well, that and "Claudia SO wants to get a chance to get at that machinery."

Will the victims who are transported be able to bring things with them, provided they are on their person? If, for instance, someone always carried a weapon off-campus, would said weapon go with them to the other world?

That is a
totally accuratehorrible way to refer to New Jersey.no subject
