Hello, how are you, good evening gentle folks of Fandom. And Steve. It's that time of year once more, that special time when you can just feel the reality of spring and the oncoming summer. It makes you get the urge to do something fun and/or cracktastic

...just me? Just me.

Well, nevertheless, its still BDE time! That's right, folks. It's time to get funky, fresh, and--in this case--maybe a lil' pixelated.

Late Thursday night, April 7th, a mysterious and pixelated castle will appear deep within the preserve. From there an 'infection' of adorable 2D graphics will spread across the island to have bunches of mysterious red flowers and polka dotted mushrooms sprout. Floating blocks of bricks (easily broken with a headbutt), yellow blocks that toss gold at you if hit them, random green pipes appear all over town... In short, Fandom Island will turn into Mario Island!

Yeah. We went there.

Friday, April 8th, and Saturday, April 9th: people will wake up to discover all the wonderful and pleasedon'tsueus changes that happened all over the island! This means there will be new but ODDLY FAMILIAR abilities available for everyone and plenty of beasties on which to give a try out of those new powers (or old powers, for those characters who have them).

But be careful; along with the pixelated land and powers comes great responsibility. Nah, we're just kidding. But you could get sent back to the starting point of the game - and if that happens too many times, you'll be trapped in the dorms for the rest of the weekend! There are new rules to the universe in place just for this event, and you can find them on the Abilities document linked above!

Late Saturday night, however, the nefarious purpose of this invasion comes to fruition: the kidnapping of all our princesses! Or, you know, the small NPC children on the island. One of which is actually a boy, but that doesn't stop narrative causality.

Sunday, April 10th, Bowser will find out that Fandomites enjoy crazy powers and beating up goombas, but take a dim view on kidnapping. Especially kidnapping of little ones. So there will be the tried and true method of getting rid of evil invaders. An angry mob to storm the castle! The mob will find this difficult as the only way into the castle they can find are four of those odd green pipes that hadn't worked up until now. So, splitting up into four groups, it's time to kick some serious ass.

While the finale groups are off storming the castle, there will be slightly tougher monsters running around the island for people to fight, and an all-out aerial assault on the outside of the dorms for those people stuck therein to defend against.

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

Green 1-up mushrooms will only be handed out by RNG, and will let your character leave the dorms one extra time after they'd normally be stuck there for the rest of the weekend.

Well, Momoko will take a chance on getting a 1-up.

There'll be four teams of 5 people each. Who'll end up on which team, and which team will get to fight the final boss, will be up to the RNG! The finale adventures will be pre-played over the week leading up to the live action weekend, so please keep your availability in mind when signing up.

So, then, like, will the island be 2D? Or just the items? Like, will everything suddenly be scrolling-screen style and people have to walk in a straight line and can only get around people by jumping over them? Or will the items be, like, totally invisible from the side, and only viewable when facing them straight on?

Am I overthinking this? Probably?
