Please excuse this interruption of Newbie Weekend for an important announcement.
On January 21st, 2001 a new holiday was born. One that we here at Fandom should all love and appreciate. I of course am talking about National Squirrel Appreciation Day.
And how will we be celebrating this holiday?
With the OOC Secret Squirrel Gift Exchange!

It's an easy process!. Just sign up in this post by 3pm Saturday, January 7th to say you want to participate. Then on Sunday, you will get an email naming who the RNG has assigned for you to play Squirrel for. Meanwhile, someone else gets RNG-assigned your name, and the fun begins!
You will have until January 21st to make them gifts, and here's the catch - you cannot buy anything for them, with the exception of paid LJ time, extra userpics, or that sort of thing.

Hi! Shannon here! And you'll find that I'm actually pretty easy to please!

You see, I like all sorts of things, pertaining to my fannish interests and my perpetual sense of childish whimsy! (I'm an animator now! I make children's cartoons for a living! I totally have childish whimsy!)
You see, I'd like anything - Yes, anything that has anything to do with my boys. Those boys being Dean here from The Iron Giant, as well as Warren Worthington III (
Comic books and cartoons. That's totally a childish whimsy thing.
Now, if you're still stuck for ideas, because I totally grant that "anything" is pretty darn open-ended, here are some ideas for you!
- Icons! Particularly for Jim, whose icons are butt-ugly (I'm an animator who fails at Photoshop, go figure) and aren't set to expire until June sometime.
- Pretty profile graphics! For any of my boys except for Warren, who already got a lovely picture last year that I absolutely adore, courtesy of
- Fanfic! Can be based on FH canon or otherwise, short or long, silly or serious, shippy or-- you get the idea. I love seeing peoples' takes on my boys, and if you feel comfortable writing them, I'd adore seeing whatever you come up with!
- Music! Muuuuuusic. Make me a playlist. Just throw some random tune at me. I'll listen to anything. No. Really. Anything. I even only kind of want to stab my eyes out when the Teacup links me to Miley music. THAT IS HOW MUCH I LOVE MUSIC.
- Art! YES I MEAN IT. Draw me a stick figure portrayal of my boys! Of my boys with your characters, or their best friends, or whatever. I might do art for a living, but you know what? Nothing makes me happy like someone taking the time to draw pretty things for me, no matter what their actual artistic skills might be.
Things I don't particularly want? That's a simple one- Anything that costs you real money. I have a guilt complex when people spend money on me. Seriously. I like, start gnawing at walls and twitching and then I insist on paying you back. Generally by throwing icons at you that I probably don't have time to make come February. And besides- I'm angry at LJ and don't really want them to get more money on my behalf. Please, keep your money, buy yourself a sammich, we'll both be happy. :)
And I think that's everything, Secret Squirrel! The things I listed off were just a few examples of stuff I like, and if that stuff doesn't work for you, I have plenty of Fandoms besides that you can dabble in. If you're doing the artist or the fic thing, for example, I adore FFVII, MirrorMask, pretty much anything X-Men related, Journey Into Mystery, all things Disney...
Cartoons. Cartoons are a safe bet. Go nuts, Secret Squirrel, and thank you for wading through this... crazy 4:30 AM wishlist that I probably should have waited until morning to write. <3

Michelle here! Thank you so, so much for signing up for this! This is my very first Secret Santa IG eeeeever, so I promise that whatever you do, I will squee and squee for it.¹
Here's a list of things I would most especially appreciate to give you a starting point!
♣ Fic! Fic is my most favorite thing of all. Especially about my boys, for some reason. Any rating, genre, pairing, whatever you wanna give me, I will be totally delighted to read it. I most especially love fic set in an FH setting, with FH peoples and whatnot, though canon stuff is amazingsauce too!
♣ Fanmixes! As some people are already aware, I am sort of clueless about music, and I'd love to get some good themed stuff to listen to that works for my characters!
♣ Icons! Especially for Miley, omg. The girl is such a camerawhore, but icons have been insaaanely hard to find for me. But really, any of my kids could really use some new pretty. :D
♣ If you're up for it and don't mind, paid time or icon space is always welcome but totally not necessary!

eviladequateVERY GOOD THIS YEAR.I love all things shiny, especially pretty icons for my kids (Eric is sadly lacking in the pretty which I realize is Just So Sad). I also love new music and fanfiction of all ilks, especially if they are starring my kids. Mood themes are also loved as I am lazy and never seem to know where to find pretty ones.
Paid time is also much loved and appreciated, but not at all necessary.

* Pretty iconses! (You don't have to worry about photoshopping the gem into Raven's -- I have a saved image I use for that.)

I've been about as well-behaved as can be expected this year, but you already knew that.
There are a few things I'm wishing for this year, and I'm hoping that you'd be willing to oblige me:
♥ ICONS! Particularly for Surreal and Ghanima. Children of Dune has horrible lighting, making icons difficult. Heck, you can even clean up the ones that Ghani already has and I would love you forever. Most of my icons for Surreal come from the horrible movie The Last Legion (AKA Colin Firth, Action Hero), which means it has not been iconed much. I'd love icons from any of her movies, really, if you like Bollywood films! Especially Dhoom II, 'cause she wears a lot of hot leather in that one.
♥ A moodtheme for Morrigan, because I'm sure there HAS to be one for Dragon Age: Origins, but I haven't found it yet.
♥ Muuuuuuuuusic.
♥ Fic! I only ever write fic for other people as gifts, so I'd be tickled pink if you gave me something about any of my girls, canon or FH-centric.
♥ PDFs of my canons, to load on my new Nook! So that I can always have them handy for ready reference.
♥ I still have not seen GoT, AHS, or any of the new fun fandoms 'cause I don't even have basic cable. Got something you think I'd like? Hook me up with a torrent link.
♥ I'd prefer if you don't spend real-money on me, since I just turned-off my auto-renewals for a reason, but if you really want to, I won't object to more icons for Ghanima.

Hi hi hi! I've been .... good-ish this year.
Really, if you take the time to make anything at all for me, I'll likely be childishly delighted. But if you want to narrow things down a bit, the things at the top of my wishlist are:
★ Fic. Dear lord, I love fic. Short, long, fluff, porn, FH, canon, whatever. I'd love stories about any of my current or retired characters. I'll also point out there is a grand total of one New Amsterdam fic on the web and I wrote it, so special love for anybody who wants to play in that sandbox.
★ Icons. Especially of Dianna Agron with her S3 hair and of Tara, Tyrion and Juliet in character.
★ Music. I worship people who can make fanmixes because my brain tends to freeze up on them, so that would be incredible. I have broad-ranging and eccentric tastes. If you like it, there's a good chance I'll like it too.
★ Art! My profile graphics are a bit rudimentary, so helping me update them would be amazing. I would also like journal headers, and Juliet could use a moodtheme.
I'd really prefer you didn't spend real money on me, both because I'm not comfortable giving LJ more money right now and because some of my characters are paid through or past the time I expect to retire the journals. But if you really want to, I'd take extra icon space for Jack or Juliet.

I was good this year! In comparison to last year! And like most others apparently, I am easy to please!
* ICONS. I love me some icons. Audrey is especially difficult to find ones for (as not many people icon Haven), with Jaina as a close second (as OTH has been on hiatus/OTH suuuuuuuuuuuucks now so most of the icons I find, she looks too young).
* Music! As my car radio barely works these days, I live off my iPod, and I am a huge fan of pretty much anything but country. Seriously, I listen to like classical and jazz, too. If you throw something at me, there's like a 95% chance I will love it.
* Profile graphics. I am not the best at PhotoShop and want prettiness.
* PDF's/ebooks. Because apparently the only way I get to read these days is if it's on my computer, and I am always looking for new stuff.
There's no need to spend money on me, as I'm a sucker who keeps upping her paid time, but if you really want, Jaye, Stacey and Kitty can always use more icon space.

Hi! My list is going to be a lot like other people's lists, but I guess that means you have a lot of options, huh?
- Icons are always awesome. My characters are as follows, with the characters who could benefit from icons the most up top:
Katchoo has more icons than I can shake a stick at, much less have room for, so don't worry about icons for ol' crankyface there; for Gabrielle, I do need more icons of her with the short hair from late S4 through S6; I'm not terribly particular about which outfit she's wearing, though.
Profile graphics for Stephanie, Anakin, and Gabrielle (who needs a new one) would not go amiss either.
Oooh, or mood themes. You don't even have to make them; I fail at tracking them down, so just point me to shiny ones if you know of 'em.
Fic is also a shiny thing. Any of my characters are game!
I am not actually asking for music, though, since my tastes are weird and that would be all stressful. But if it's bluegrassy and/or Celtic-y there's a really good chance I'll love it. Banjo or fiddle? GIMME.
If you're really strapped for ideas, I won't get mad about paid time as a last resort.
I am also a complete sports nut, if this happens to jog your imagination in bizarre or interesting ways, in which case I fear you but in a good way, I promise.
I think that should cover it, or I'll ramble aimlessly forever.

I've been very very good this year...well, I've been all right. Anyhoodle, let's talk about what I would like for Squirrelmas!
*Icons! Icons are awesome. I would especially love icons for Anna (whose PB is just now in the target age range so a lot of the existing icons are too young; also, if you have 'shop skills and feel like 'shopping her clothes white or her all scaryghostie Dressed in Blood that would be, like, icing on the amazing cake) or Steve.
* Profile graphic things. They're kind of an impenetrable mystery to me but I love them and am gradually learning how to fill one in without making a complete hash of it.
* Music! I love music. Character-based playlisty things or just random music, GIVE IT TO ME, SHOW MY EARS SOMETHING NEW. And seriously, I will probably like anything. Anything. I have extremely varied tastes.
* Fic! I love fic perhaps most of all, and fic about one or some of my crew would be awesome
The only thing is, please no paid time. I'm not happy with LJ right now and I don't want them getting any more money out of me or on my behalf. If you're seriously strapped for ideas, rec me some books! I read all the time and am always looking for new shinies.

This year I haven't set anything on fire unless it was supposed to be, and that's as close to good as I get.
*I like shinnies, especially for my journal. I still don't have my info page set up and have a basic layout and the whole mess with comments just confuses me to bits so anything in that general is lovely and awesome.
*I love music and soundtracks and playlists. I am currently listening to a mix of Irish drinking songs, current pop hits, a bit of German metal, and podcasts. I really like music. Also, podcast suggestions.
*Seriously, anything shinny. I'm kind of full of flail fail right now and everything makes me go squee.
I'm only playing Darcy right now.

I'm pretty easy to please and really, receiving anything just makes me happy.
* I love pretty icons, mood themes, headers or profile pics for my characters. I am woefully graphically-challenged so any of these things would be awesome!
* Music! I love fanmixes for my characters or really, almost any kind of music. Except rap. I'm not really a fan of rap.
* Fic of my characters doing FH stuff or with FH people. I really enjoy seeing what other people envision for my characters.
* PDFs of my canon or any other canons you think I might enjoy to put on my new Kindle! I love reading.
* Anything else that you think I would like. Just have fun with it.

This is Chris - Happy New Year and really, I'll take just about anything. I hope you have fun making it, whatever it is.
I'd love fanfic set at FH with my girls, or AU's, or set in the future. Sillyfic, angstfic, romancefic, fic with gumdrop rain, you name it, it'd make me happy.
Icons are also great, or those profile headers-- Parker doesn't have one, and the other three just have some basic ones that have the contact info on them. I end up sticking to GIMP when making icons or visuals myself, so I always find anything like this impressive. Any art or manips or mood sets would thrill me.
Music is *awesome*, I love our music exchanges. Or just finding me some, or finding me icons. I never have enough time to go look for any of this myself.
Please no paid time; I appreciate the thought, but LJ is on my last nerve these days. I may change my mind about them in a few months, but not right now.

Actually, any art or fic doesn't have to include my girls, although I'd love that. I'm into Leverage, Warehouse 13, Stargate, Sherlock BBC, White Collar, DCU comics, Dresden Files, Firefly, and Buffyverse as well as the universes above. So if you get an inspiration for FH fic or art that includes one of those but not my girls, I'd be happy to accept it. (I miss Sophie. Sigh. Or Evie Carnahan, or Susan Pevensie, those would be cool too....)
