Your Spring 2012 BDE!

Hello folks! It's time for Fandom to be invaded again, and this time around, the island's citizens will have to deal with...the school board! If that doesn't sound scary, well, just keep reading.

If you've ever wondered where Fandom High gets all of the money for exotic trips, a seemingly never ending supply of food in the common rooms, and enough salary to keep the administration from running for the hills, well, wonder no more. Some of the school's benefactors are going to be coming for a visit, from April 14-20. The only problem? Those benefactors have no idea what Fandom is like, and it's up to the citizens of Fandom to ensure that it stays that way, so the school doesn't lose its funding.

To make the benefactors' visit as pleasant as possible, the school board will be enacting some new rules for the duration of the visit:

- All students and teachers must look normal both inside and outside of school, or at least pretend. If you do not have a way of appearing normal, it's okay, because someone will be coming with the school board to assist in this task.

- All students will be expected to wear uniforms: adorable skirts or dashing pants for the ladies, and don't forget sweater vests, guys!

- All teachers will be expected to wear uniforms and, well, they're not exactly Hogwarts robes.

- All classes must at least sound like something real students would take.

- Our benefactors are a bit...old fashioned, so students will be reassigned to same-gender rooms.

In addition, the residents of the town will be asked to make some adjustments as well:

- The drinking age must be enforced everywhere.

- All weird animals must be kept in the preserve and out of eyesight.

- All townies must dress in Earth and time appropriate clothing.

The school board's plan is to have the benefactors visit on Monday, April 16, and then be shuffled back home safe and sound. Of course, the island has a mind of its own, and things rarely go according to plan here...

- Monday, April 16: Anyone drinking Red Bull, or any other caffeinated drink, will find themselves with wings, which will need to be hidden from the benefactors.

- Tuesday, April 17: The island is going to be hit with an alien invasion - a wee squeaky green alien invasion. These adorable aliens will be getting themselves into all kinds of trouble around the island, and if you save them, they'll follow you around for the rest of the day, declaring their undying gratitude to you in creepy unison. Inspired by this, the administration will be ordering an invasion of violent, bitey bunnies to arrive the next day (Portalocity still owes us, after all).

- Wednesday, April 18: The administration will learn that when one wants a controllable invasion, one should not use bunnies, as they tend to reproduce quickly. If anyone else on the island happens to be inspired by the bunny invasion, and would like to add to the chaos tomorrow with animals of their own (by ordering them or conjuring them or whatever it is people can do), this would be the day to plan that, hint hint.

- Thursday, April 19: The bunnies are still reproducing! New creatures are being added to the mix! Things will be a little crazier than anyone expected! After the general fightyness, a still-troublesome population of remaining creatures will be dealt with once and for all, which just leaves...

- Friday, April 20: ...the benefactors, whose true nature will be revealed before they are gone from the island!

Here are some of the things we need from you guys, via the OCD below:

- Who's going to cause IC problems with the uniforms?
The administration will threaten Dire Retribution for this...but will never actually get around to carrying it out. Funny how that works! If you think your character would make a fuss over having to wear a uniform, let us know below.

- Who do you want your students to room with?/Will your student be here during the BDE?
All of the students who are currently rooming with someone of the opposite gender will be reassigned to same-gender rooms for the duration of the school board's visit. If you would like to OOCly pick your student's roommate (like on school trips), comment in that thread below. If your student will not be here during the BDE, please let us know below as well. Anyone in an opposite-gendered room who doesn't pick a roommate and doesn't say they won't be here will be RNGed into a new roommate assignment.

- Who would like to add to the invasion mess on Thursday?
If your character would be inspired to add to the mess by summoning or importing some creatures to the island, let us know what you would like to have them bring in below. They need to be fightable by general Fandom means, so that any of your fellow Fandomites would be able to dispatch one. We'll let you know if any of the ones signed up won't work, and why. If you would like some ideas of high-breeding animals, here's a good list. (WARNING: TV TROPES!)

- Who would like to play someone from the school board?
The school board will be roaming the island during the week and checking up on everything they possibly can - classes, businesses, dorm rooms, etc. - to make sure the rules are being followed. School board members will be played out of separate journals from your regular characters, like any guest, and any school board member coming from the same canon as characters currently on the island needs permission from those players first. The school board members must be able to pass as "normal" and we are looking for five of them, to be added to the admin-run member. If more than five characters are volunteered, we will run the RNG to decide who will be coming.

This thread is as much for brainstorming what kind of trouble to cause.

Cara already *has* a uniform thank you very much, she doesn't need a new one.

And she will not be wearing skirts, no matter how fugly the pants are.

Also, as a former ~~victim~~ wearer of school uniforms similar to those, there absolutely needs to be a bunch of people getting assigned uniforms several sizes too large with the assurance "she/he'll grow into it". And people wearing their nice wool jumpers and blazers in a rainstorm right before everyone needs to be packed into a tight space.

Hanna will totally have issues with this, yes. She'll want to do whatever is possible to accessorize and make it more fashionable.

Anna literally cannot take off her dress, and she's pretty sure wearing the uniform over her dress would just look dumb. She'll probably cite religious reasons, which is why she claims she's wearing the same dress all the time now, when asked.

Petra is probably going to take her uniform apart and sew it back together in a more fashionable cut, and then accessorize the hell out of it. But she swears the shortness of the skirt is because she's so darn tall! (Also, she is lying.)

Is it OK if we get some bizarre rebellion going in the other direction? Lucrezia's going to find those outfits far too modern, and will long for her Renaissance silks. I'm not sure how to play with this angle, but I kind of think it'd be fascinating to have some students also from past eras (or possibly just Ren faire fashionistas) trying to make the dresses longer and more modest (while also flashier and with more jewelry, as you do). Thoughts?

Oh, that skirt is so getting tailored. And oops, those buttons were shoddily attached! Et cetera, et cetera.

Lex would like to protest gendered uniforms, if the girls get to wear skirts, the boys should too.

Look, the skirt is going to get rolled up into a miniskirt and it will be accessorized to hell and back, but that's just the way it's going to be.

Warren, by the end of the week, is probably going to completely be losing his shit about the uniforms-and-hiding thing. Expect him to be burning through uniform jackets like they're made of paper after a few days. Wingholes in the back! Ripped seams from failed attempts at stretching!

... He'll offer to pay for replacements, at least.

It's like being on a trip, except with more polyester and less making out.

Different question! Rinoa currently has a solo. Can I volunteer the empty half of her room to any displaced girl moved out of a boy-girl pairing? It'd be fun to have a temporary roommate.

Actually, I think the BDE would be a good time for Jono to cut his losses and take off for a little while. Looking forward to flinging Warren and Dean at it, though!

Sam, Claudia, Vincent, and Zinzi will all be running away/turning into something fuzzy to run free on the preserve for the duration. Only Pinkie will be sticking around.
