Summer Session I Workshop Signups!!

Good morning everyone! It's time once again to sign up for classes, for the first summer semester of 2012! These sign-ups are for both NEW and RETURNING students!

Please read the following before you start signing up:

1) Teacher and Student Class Expectations! The all important guideline for what is expected of the players in Fandom High. Please give it a once-over even if you've seen it in some form or other before - consider it a good thing to click and read while we put up the OCD!

2) Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - given name, then family name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

3) "PC" classes are those taught by a teacher character, the things you're signing up for here, as opposed to the conceptually newer "NPC" classes, which are discussed in their own thread towards the end of this post.

The Important Stuff About Signing Up For Classes

1) Each student character MUST sign up for at least 2 PC classes. Each player may only sign up for a MAXIMUM of 8 PC classes, spread among your student characters in any way you choose, as long as each has the minimum of 2. (Yes, this means that if you only have one student, you could sign them up for 8 classes. Just think carefully about whether you have the availability to handle that.)

2) For any classes that exceed their maximum numbers:

a. If you have two characters signed up for one class, one will be ousted (so make a note of who you'd prefer to get the spot).

b. Student characters played by the teacher of the class will also get ousted.

c. Students who have already taken the same class from the same teacher will also be eliminated, so please note in your ping if you're attempting to repeat the course.

d. If the class still has too many, the Random Number Generator (RNG) will be used to determine the roster from the remaining sign-ups. If you have been RNG'd out, we will let you know as soon as possible so you can choose a second alternative.

3) If you're a TA for a class, you need to sign up for that class. It will count towards your minimum 2 / maximum 8 courses. Please note TA-ship in the sign-up, so the character won't be counted towards the class-maximum of 20 students. Teachers: please refrain from having your own character act as the TA as it defeats the purpose of having a back-up player to post for you!

4) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap.

5) If you sign up, you need to show up. Class attendance is how we keep track of your character's activity. If you repeatedly fail to at least sign in to your classes, we'll have to contact you about it, and you could be asked to leave the game.

6) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.

7) To be fair to people in all time-zones, sign-ups are not first-come, first-serve. Excess numbers in classes will be whittled down with the handy-dandy Random Number Generator (RNG).

The Summer 2012 Session 1 Class Schedule!

FH class sign-ups will close at 11:59pm Eastern on May 4th. No late sign-ups will be allowed without extenuating circumstances or proper arrangements, so sign up early in case something comes up! If you don't sign up on time, you'll have to wait for the next semester to play, woe.

General FYI: Feel free to make changes to your class choices as long as you do it before the deadline. We use the final pings in each thread to make the class lists, not the email notifs. Join Yakko Warner as he introduces you to some of the more interesting events and people from world history, as filtered through his *unique* perspective.

Just be warned, the subjects might make less sense than they did before you took the class.

This workshop, led again by your enthusiastic instructor Electroclash, is geared towards showing young hopeful heroes the way to making the most of their publicity, whether it concerns the right pose to strike in a promotional photo or knowing how big a fee to ask for for the use of your likeness in a comic book.

Though often dismissed as stories to frighten childen, there are plenty of creatures that really do go bump in the night. Each Class will focus on a different creature, including ways to identify them, deal with them, and, most importantly, keep yourself safe from them. Many lectures will include a hands-on activity that will give students the opportunity to interact with the creatures directly. Depending on how closely they paid attention, these activities may be dangerous, but not fatal.

Pinkie will program different "historical" events into the Danger Shop, so that students can experience them first hand. Classes may well include tea with the afformentioned non-existant Tsarina, helping the three pony tribes make peace and found Equestria, assisting Saint George in convincing the dragon to help conquer William the Conquerer -- essentially, Pinkie will take some very vague information and legends from Earth history and turn them into ADVENTURES!

Heavy emphasis on practical lessons, which will include: how not to go crazy while watching the same Dora episode 43 times in a row, Doing the Voices while reading stories, cheating at Candyland and getting a kid to go the fuck to sleep.

Not your typical arts and crafts course. In this workshop, art is a faculty for freedom of expression, individuality, and a way of helping deal with complex life issues. We'll focus on the therapeutic power of art and show that artistic talent is not required to let you enjoy playing with paint.

Expect the practical, and make sure to dress in something you don't mind never being able to wear again.

NPC Class Requests

For those students in need of specific core content courses, NPC classes are handwavy, off-screen classes taken online at the student's own pace, and taught by our brilliant and not at all homicidal Danger Shop computer, HAL 9000. No sign-ups will be necessary, there is no minimum or maximum number of these classes your student can take, and they don't count towards or against the requirements for PC workshops.

We'll collect up your requests for class subjects, respond to anything that seems problematic, combine any duplicates, and make a list that will be posted along with the PC wokshop rosters once sign-ups are over. After that, any student may refer to that list when talking about additional classes they're taking!

So, in this thread, please request NPC classes of a normal high school nature that you'd like to be available for your characters to take. (List as many as you'd like in the same comment, but please keep them to classes you actually want, not general suggestions.)
