Meme: Happily Ever After

Okay, all of these goodbye posts are depressing me, so tada, a new meme!

We've all sent characters off into the sunset. Here's a chance to babble about what those people are doing now. Are they married? Divorced? Suffering from high cholesterol because they don't know when to stop chasing a bacon truck, Biff?

And for characters who are still active, where do you see them being in five years?

OKAY OLD CHARACTERS FIRST. And dammit I'm using old journals because I'm gonna be all nostalgic.

Buffy Summers's time is slightly off due to being dead and Nothinged during that whole BDE, but she got revived afterwards (...when they remembered her, which sounds so bad when you look at it that way) and is currently in the middle of the super depressing, Spike-banging season six.

Quinn is going to go to Yale. She won't make Skull & Bones, but she'll pledge a sorority and be active in its leadership. She might not quite be top of her class like she wants to be -- she's bright and works hard, but she really didn't go to the most demanding high schools -- but she'll get good grades and graduate, probably with a degree in political science. And then she'll bounce around New York for a decade or so, mostly working in public relations at consulting firms. Eventually she'll meet a Christian bad boy with a high IQ, good abs and a nice smile, get married, and move back to Ohio for the kids.

She is going to do awesome and I'm not just saying that because I love her. Sniff.

Also, she will never text and drive.

Barbossa is still terrorizing the Caribbean. He's picked up an undead, unkillable monkey named Jack who is very good friends with the squirrels who race along the ropes and tell Barbossa all of the gossip. Barbossa is considered weird even among pirates for the squirrel thing. His love is the sea but he still stares picturesquely into the sunset and thinks of a ninja he used to know and their star-crossed love.

And then he makes someone walk the plank because he's not really good with emotions.

Angela is graduating from NYU this spring. She's a year late because she had to juggle being a mom, but she made it. She's published a couple poems and short stories in small literary magazines, and she's been talking to agents about her first novel. (It's about a normal high schooler who goes to a supernatural high school, shockingly enough.) She and Marty haven't quite gotten around to getting married yet -- they might just have the world's longest engagement -- but they're very happy and are discussing whether Abbie needs a younger sibling.

Quinn Morgendorffer is (oh Jesus) like six years after her days at Fandom High, and actually about to graduate from a real college despite changing her major four years and taking time off to tour Europe with some guy she met. She settled on majoring in business, which is a surprise to her, too. She's using graduation as an excuse to move the hell out of her apartment with Sandi (which she only agreed to because Sandi sort of guilted her into it) before someone ends up murdered.

Oh, and probably right before graduation she met a really nice guy who wasn't The One or anything, but taught her what a real relationship should look like.

Brooke Davis is currently becoming a little mogul. She's living in New York and her clothing company, Clothes Over Bro's (I hate you, apostrophe) is actually a thing. She's becoming a pretty big name designer whose shows are some of the most looked forward to at Fashion Week. They're also about to kick off a magazine, of course named B Davis.

And maybe her love life is incredibly dead at the moment and her mom's horrible and all, but still! Successful!

And then in later years she's going to move herself back to Tree Hill, reunite with all her friends, meet a guy who fell in love with her from a book, and get dumped on for like three straight seasons till she finally gets a happy ending.

If I go by canon, Nadia's totally been killed by a coffee table by now (it's the silent killer!). I figure she's probably at the very least hooked up with Sydney Bristow and APO, dating Eric Weiss and spending whole episodes bowling while Sydney and Vaughn go off and be spies.

Or she and Weiss totally ran away to DC together instead of her getting all zombified and then comatose by the giant Rambaldi device her foster-mother-slash-evil-secret-aunt built, and now they're an awesome spy couple raising little spy kids who will eventually have to fight international criminals at an inappropriately young age in order to rescue them. (Their secret power? LOBSTER NOISES!)

I support this second version of a happier ending.

Tyler is ... Tyler, though he's in Malibu now. He's getting a little old for the fights, but he still pads down to a meeting every couple weeks because he likes keeping an eye on Fight Club. None of the Space Monkeys beating each other up these days believe he's Really That Tyler, but that's okay: They're more meatheads and less terrorists anyhow. He makes and he sells soap for a living. It's not incredibly profitable, but he doesn't really want or need much. His mental health is about as good as it's ever going to be. There are meds, there's counseling, and he doesn't lose time much these days.

It's a nice life, not that he'll admit it.

You'll need to wait for She Who Plays All the RDJs Ever to get online to hear whether he's still with Tony or not. (I say sure, why not.)

I think it would depend on if Tyler teamed up with Rhodey and Pepper to beat the ever living shit out of him didn't dump his ass over the passive suicide attempts in Iron Man 2!

If so, Tony is busy tormenting Banner by nailing his twin and possibly ripping on Steve for being a fucking zygote.

Daisy ran off into the sunset with the Ninth Doctor in the TARDIS, if I recall correctly. Which probably means she got ditched in London with hopefully at least a winning lotto ticket when they switched show runners the Doctor decided it was time to move on. I see her as being reassigned to another big city to adopt new personality traits based on what she thinks will make her most attractive while she waits for her final reap and her reward.

Christian's in Paris, making cow eyes at Satine and trying to convince her to be a writer's wife instead of a courtesan.

He is not going to succeed. But he's happy enough, for now.

Death is doing ... pretty much what she's been doing since the first thing that could die came into existence. She takes your hand and leads you where you think you belong.

She thinks about the people she knew as a human more than she suspects she should. She doesn't go out of her way to watch, but when she can she checks in on people. She doesn't say anything, but it's nice just to see them.

And she'll never do a year as a human again. She can't.

A college where she can't keep her cats with her.

Angela will be transferring to a small, Christian college close to home in the fall.

Hey, let's not use a wee icon for this.

And she's totally still dating Ron. Got an epilogue to get to, yo.

Coming up on three years in the game, and I still have no drops. Oh well.

But, in five years Natalie here will be in a band called Kid Chameleon with a certain Scott Pilgrim (plus other people), and she'll probably be metaphorical moments away from asking him to start calling him Envy, after which everything will go to hell.

Apart from her career.

Josh Lyman is currently the chief of staff to President Matt Santos and has finally gotten his shit together enough to date Donna without putting his foot in his mouth more than two or three times a day. He insists it's part of his charm. He's been carrying around an engagement ring in his pocket for the last few weeks, but has decided to wait to ask her to marry him after the Democratic Convention.

Or maybe during the convention. Josh hasn't exactly figured out how to separate his office and home lives.

He's getting a little burned out but refuses to admit it. He doesn't want to run for office himself and that leaves political operatives very few job options, and he'd rather go mute forever than be a talking head on one of the cable channels.

Archie Kennedy is still living in modern-day San Diego these days, having become too enamored of 21st-century amenities to really want to go back to his own time, where he suspects he wouldn't be able to re-join the Royal Navy anyhow, not after the incident where he went into seizures and had to be knocked out to avoid endangering the mission.

He is quite happily employed at the Maritime Museum of San Diego, where he's particularly fond of giving tours of the 18th-century Royal Navy frigate, and helps crew the Californian (http://www.sdmaritime.org/californian/), especially when it does its annual tour up the coast (http://www.sdmaritime.org/californian-coastal-voyage/). (Which his erstwhile player really, really wants to go on someday.)

He avoids the Gaslamp District for one week every July, though. Not that he wasn't used to cramped living conditions in the Navy, but the press of the annual Comic-Con crowd is just too much.

(Yes, I almost posted this from [livejournal.com profile] brat_intraining's account. Yes, I'm horribly amused.)

Claudia will be heading back to South Dakota, where she figures she'll have an eventful but otherwise fairly standard career in artifact retrieval before retiring in secret to her own private island.

She's wrong, but that's what SHE thinks will go down.

She's going to refuse to go to college until finally Myka convinces her to at least take a few classes at a time at the University of South Dakota because she needs a bachelor's degree to officially join the Secret Service and become a real agent. But she'll get derailed from that when her new best friend and partner in artifact retrieval gets killed by Anthony Michael Hall, at which point she'll go just a little bit crazy and possibly try to hijack the entire Warehouse for her own purposes, only to have to be talked/taken down by Myka, Pete, and special guest star Dana Scully, who help remind her that there are good things in the world, too, and she doesn't get to play God with all that power in the Warehouse.

Which I didn't realize until today but is actually totally my prediction for this upcoming season, minus the Scully bit (though I wouldn't put it past the show to try and get Gillian Anderson to guest star).

Anyway, then she'll probably decide she needs to go somewhere else for awhile to resettle her brain and head for the place that helped her feel more sane back when she was going a bit nuts trying to rescue her brother and show up in Fandom to teach, like, alternative history or robotics or something.
