BDE Sign-Ups! Come And Get 'Em!

And it's time for sign-ups! You can find more information in yesterday's post here. The first couple of pieces of OCD on this are mostly a headcount, so get it in any time before BDE start, July 23rd. The last two pieces of sign-up are due early this Sunday, July 22nd.

We'd like to see a balance of good and evil, if at all possible, but we won't be capping either sign-up. Brainstorming post will go up in a bit!

Note that in the top OCD, you should declare your character's real allegiance. Feel free to note if they're pretending to be sekritly something else, however.

Viva La Resistance!

No, you won't have to get a buzz-cut or wear a Guy Fawkes mask in order to do this. But you could if you really wanted to, we suppose.

You're fighting the power. Whether you're pretending to be on the side of our not so benevolent dictator or are actively underground and hiding from those looking to turn you in is up to you. Remember, though, this is a very dangerous place to be. You could be captured and Imperio-ed. Or worse. And you need to be careful with your power usage, too, because if the bad guys get one whiff of you and your power... well, you might wind up in detention.

The resistance will be spending the week working on a plan to break into detention (seen below), release the people inside, and then take on Umbridge once and for all. What that plan's going to be? Well, that's going to be mostly up to you.

Loyalists: Being Bad Feels So Good

Black leather and corsets optional. We've read that Villainous Handbook after all. We want you to be as comfortable as possible as you crush the enemies of the glorious leader!

You've either been Imperio-ed into submission, or you're doing this job willingly. That will be up to you! Be on the lookout for those who are less loyal, or smell funny, or make fun of your bitchin' leather jacket and evil henchman look.

And if you want to creep around? Well, we won't stop you. It's a dystopia, and you're the bad guy. Chat with your fellow players and have fun.

The lovely necroslacker will be reprising the role of Umbridge.

Detention: It's No Breakfast Club

Please, no one put lipstick on with your boobs. It would just be awkward.

You're someone who proved too difficult to control or convert. The kind of game breaker god mode that puts everyone to shame. So... you ended up locked into Detention. Possibly for a very long time. And you're mad as hell. Are you going to take it anymore?

Detentionites are officially stuck. The detention walls keep magic from crawling out, up to and including any teleportation abilities you might have. It's a null-zone for the powerful and the magical.

People in detention will be able to interact with each other, but not with anyone else, at least until Saturday, July 28th. After that... well, you'll probably be at the front of the queue for giving Umbridge a whuppin'.

AU Journals

We'll be switching all on-island characters over to AU journals for this BDE, both to help differentiate them from their canon-Fandom counterparts, and to give you more icon space to fit your BDE character! Please use the OCD below to indicate what your new journal is going to be so we can add it to the friending list. Sign-ups close at noon PST, Sunday, July 22nd.

Classes

Teachers are welcome to teach the same classes as they have been doing, albeit in Umbridgified form-- or you could completely turn it around and teach something entirely different. Or maybe your teacher is actually hiding out with the underground/dead/not-on-island, and you want someone else to take up the job - any adult (townie, teacher, alum, expat) is allowed to step up and take over a current class, if the teacher okays it. Please let us know about any changes to your class's line-up in the OCD below.

Brainstorming

A post for brainstorming will go up tomorrow! It'll be open to anyone to hash out plans and figure out where to put their characters. A few admin positions are set (Peter and Ender Wiggin are part of the organising committee of the resistance, Umbridge with the... well, with Umbridge, Anakin Skywalker is dead, Bo is one of her main leather-clad henchwomen. Zoe Winchester's in detention...) and there are Umbridge's rules (no co-ed rooms, no public affection, enforced personal space of four inches (NO TOUCHING), random dorm inspections, and there's a curfew) as well as an official Umbridge radio channel (bringing you daily motivational messages as well as information) and an underground paper. Otherwise, it's entirely up to you guys how you fill everything in. Go wild.

Okay, this is an actual, real, legitimate question. NO VAGUE STATEMENTS HERE.

Basically, I want Yakko to be one of the Hogwarts ghosts, but with a class. He's there, he has a job to do regardless of who's in charge, and no punishment is really going to be effective on him. (Let's face it, he'd pretend to have Imperius affect him just long enough to kiss the person who cast it and then run away, and I'd like to think there's no chance he'd ever successfully get locked in detention.)

Would it be okay to have him be a force of chaos on the outside who's too much of a pain to try to drive off anymore and is too nonsensical to be an actual threat? He'd basically be a non-affiliated resistance member posing as a loyalist, or just a really bad loyalist.

This would of course be played for comedy as he antagonizes... well, whoever is around.

For those of you who are balking at the inevitable uploading of upwards of a hundred icons, I just went scouring the internet and found two different LJ-Icon batch uploaders, both of which I just tried out, and they work just fine.

First, there's the downloadable one, which is pretty straightforward. Unzip the file into a folder, drop the icons that you want uploaded, named however you want your keywords to be, into that folder, run the program, and presto!

The second is the online option. Register, dump your icons into a .zip folder, upload, and... also presto!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have icons to sort. This shouldn't take long!
