Fall 2012 Class Signups!!!!

Good morning everyone! It's time to sign up for your fall 2012 classes! These sign-ups are for both NEW and RETURNING students!

Please read the following before you start signing up:

1) Teacher and Student Class Expectations! The all important guideline for what is expected of the players in Fandom High. Please give it a once-over even if you've seen it in some form or other before - consider it a good thing to click and read while we put up the OCD!

2) Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - given name, then family name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

3) "PC" classes are those taught by a teacher character, the things you're signing up for here, as opposed to the conceptually newer "NPC" classes, which are discussed in their own thread towards the end of this post.

The Important Stuff About Signing Up For Classes

1) Each student character MUST sign up for at least 2 PC classes. Each player may only sign up for a MAXIMUM of 8 PC classes, spread among your student characters in any way you choose, as long as each has the minimum of 2. (Yes, this means that if you only have one student, you could sign them up for 8 classes. Just think carefully about whether you have the availability to handle that.)

2) For any classes that exceed their maximum numbers:

a. If you have two characters signed up for one class, one will be ousted (so make a note of who you'd prefer to get the spot).
b. Student characters played by the teacher of the class will also get ousted.
c. Students who have already taken the same class from the same teacher will also be eliminated, so please note in your ping if you're attempting to repeat the course.
d. If the class still has too many, the Random Number Generator (RNG) will be used to determine the roster from the remaining sign-ups. If you have been RNG'd out, we will let you know as soon as possible so you can choose a second alternative.

3) If you're a TA for a class, you need to sign up for that class. It will count towards your minimum 2 / maximum 8 courses. Please note TA-ship in the sign-up, so the character won't be counted towards the class-maximum of 20 students. Teachers: please refrain from having your own character act as the TA as it defeats the purpose of having a back-up player to post for you!

4) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap.

5) If you sign up, you need to show up. Class attendance is how we keep track of your character's activity. If you repeatedly fail to at least sign in to your classes, we'll have to contact you about it, and you could be asked to leave the game.

6) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.

7) To be fair to people in all time-zones, sign-ups are not first-come, first-serve. Excess numbers in classes will be whittled down with the handy-dandy Random Number Generator (RNG).

The Fall 2012 Class Schedule!

FH class sign-ups will close at 11:59pm Eastern on August 23rd. No late sign-ups will be allowed without extenuating circumstances or proper arrangements, so sign up early in case something comes up! If you don't sign up on time, you'll have to wait for the next semester to play, woe.

General FYI: Feel free to make changes to your class choices as long as you do it before the deadline. We use the final pings in each thread to make the class lists, not the email notifs. Wait for the OCD or you're velociraptor food. Nick and Nu, please report to the velociraptor cages immediately. The rest of you may proceed.

An important step in growing up is realizing that your actions have consequences for people other than you. Through interactive simulations and class discussions, students will get to make choices and realize the consequences before, hypothetically, graduating from Fandom, going back to their home dimensions, and screwing everything up.

This course will explore the exciting and ever growing field of Mad Science. From creating monsters in secret underground labs to punching holes into other realities to playing God with things better left alone, this course will provide a hands-on sampling of various disciplines and techniques studied by mad scientists.

Minion sidekicks not included. Giant ominous Tesla Coils will be provided as needed.

This experimental testing regime cutting-edge curriculum will challenge test subjects students to achieve new levels of physical fitness while working hands-on with technology that could one day improve the lives of people everywhere. Be part of the future! Improve society while improving yourself!

Disclaimer: This class will subject test subjects students to amounts of physical exertion beyond the everyday norm. Aperture Laboratories is not liable for any adverse reactions that may result from exposure to repulsion gel or other test materials participation. All test subjects students are required to turn in signed waivers acknowledging this before beginning the tests class.

Drawing on the professor's own experiences travelling as an itinerant wizard, Wild Roving will teach the skills necessary for successful backpacking experiences, whether one intends to visit a foreign country, continent, world, galaxy, or universe. The class will involve a combination of classroom theory and Danger Shop simulations, covering such topics as acquiring local currency, finding temporary employment, maneuvering hostel politics, and dealing with foreign law enforcement -- when you don't speak the language.

Some people seem as though they breeze through life, winning all of the friends, accomplishing everything they set their minds to without so much as lifting a finger or breaking a sweat. You? Are not one of those people. For one reason or another, be it a physical mutation, a cultural difference, a natural inclination to sit on the sidelines, or just teenage angst, you don't march to the beat of the world's drum. In fact, you're far more inclined to sit off on the sidelines, rolling your eyes at the parade.

In this class, Instructor Jonothon Starsmore talks about life on the sidelines, for those who live there and for those who know somebody who does, and discusses the care and feeding of that little battered and bruised thing that used to be your ability to get up and mingle. By the end of the semester, he hopes that you'll be able to take a step back and look at your definition of 'outsider,' only to see that the line dividing you from the rest has shifted, if only just a little.

NPC Class Requests: Fall 2012

For those students in need of specific core content courses, NPC classes are handwavy, off-screen classes taken online at the student's own pace, and taught by our brilliant and not at all homicidal Danger Shop computer, HAL 9000. No sign-ups will be necessary, there is no minimum or maximum number of these classes your student can take, and they don't count towards or against the requirements for PC workshops.

We'll collect up your requests for class subjects, respond to anything that seems problematic, combine any duplicates, and make a list that will be posted along with the PC wokshop rosters once sign-ups are over. After that, any student may refer to that list when talking about additional classes they're taking!

So, in this thread, please request NPC classes of a normal high school nature that you'd like to be available for your characters to take. (List as many as you'd like in the same comment, but please keep them to classes you actually want, not general suggestions.)
