Open Forum Round-Up and Some Changes!
The takeaway from February's Open Forum; (aside from all of you are awesome) was "Let's clean things up!" and we agree. (With both.) For the past month, we've been busy following through on the suggestions therein and making some updates and changes that we hope will help everybody out.
Cleanup and Updates
The town directory, both addresses and business entries, is updated through ... well, today. Welcome, Mr. Mayor. We also added a note to the sidebar of
ft_directory about where/how to update your business information, and that's now part of the Welcome letter for new townie characters as well.
The character directory on the website has also been updated through Hi, Mr. Mayor, including the removal of dropped characters and shifting all the graduates into their proper alumni categories. Additionally, in order to make it easier to find characters in the directory, we've switched the order around so they're alphabetized by first (or only) name unless (Hi, Parker, Mitchell, and Priestly) they almost always go by something else.
We've also removed all of the outdated pages hiding on the site from the old version of the FH database, so you won't come across those accidentally anymore when googling. (Or if you do because Google still has them cached, they won't actually be there; you'll get a 404 error and a link back to the main page.)
Ch-ch-ch-changes...
We're a smaller, tighter, more balanced game afterholycrapula seven and a half years, and we think it's time to reflect that in the area of fandom caps, so we're making two changes before things gear up for new applications in April!
The Gamewide Cap per Fandom, which was set at 10, hasn't been employed (or needed) for several years now, so we've removed it entirely.
If one fandom ever begins to dominate to the point where it's a problem, we'll re-examine the situation, but for now, the playing field is wide open.
The Player Cap Per Fandom, which has been limited to two on-island characters per fandom for quite a while, is being increased to three.
There's a smaller group of players now, we all know each other a lot better, and we're confident that nobody's going to grab allllllll thePokemon characters from their favorite fandom, leaving none for the rest of us. (Again, if problems arise, we'll revisit the issue.) So if you've been staring at your character roster and angsting over possibilities for the summer, it's time to take another look with this in mind!
Both FH directory/user-info entry and the website have been updated with this information.
