ooc: who's ready for a bde?

Hey, boys and girls! It's time for your player-run summer BDE announcement! And it's based on a recent Thrilling Adventure Hour show (available to listen to here), because of course it is.

From Thursday, July 25 until Sunday, July 28, Fandom is going to be invaded... by your fans.

See, for the last eight years, the radio stations's signals have reached another dimension through handwavy handwavy magic stuff, and people have been watching to our adventures, thinking it's just a television show that's been broadcast for their viewing pleasure. And some of the more die-hard fans have come to see Fandom in person on vacation, and they will be OH. MY. GOD. SO! HAPPY! to meet all their favorite characters!

Because they think everyone in Fandom is a TV character. These fans are a little fuzzy on what's real and what's not sometimes.

For the first day, these fans will be available for interaction to get their squee all over your characters, annoy them by begging for pictures and spoilers and by showing them this fanfic they wrote about you, hope you don't mind it's a self-insert RPF! On the second day, the fans will be gaining a certain ability to rewrite the "show" the way they want... which means that they'll be changing your characters' lives and situations all willy-nilly.

Things will go back to normal as of the finale on Sunday, and we'll have more info on that closer to the date. Now for a little explanation...


Who's going to be playing these fans?
Well, you can! This is one of the few times you can play a non-AU kid original character at Fandom High. There will be a sign up post where you can get more info and submit a short app. I'll be playing one of them, but we'll be accepting up to four more people to play fans during the week/end.

What kinds of things are the fans allowed to do to our characters?
Pretty much anything you set your imaginations to. Remember, these people are coming in with a fan's perspective. So they can try to set up characters they want to be together (regardless of current pairing), send characters off on a bus out of town if they don't like them, set them up in an AU, turn them into a Mary Sue, whatever you feel comfortable with.

Keep in mind, these fans won't be doing anything to your characters without OOC permission.

What if I want to bring a character back?
Yay, you can! All former/dropped/retired characters are game to be brought back, though you'll have to sign them up so we know who's coming.

What if I want my character killed off/sent away?
That can also be done. Again, we'll ask you to sign them up for that so we know it's happening.

I have alumni. How are they affected by this?
If your alumni are off island and you want them to stay there for the whole plot, they're not affected at all unless they talk to someone who's been changed, or who tells them about it.
If you want to bring your alumni into town for the start of this plot, that's totally okay, and the days of the BDE won't count towards their on-island totals.
If you want the fans to bring them back into town randomly, you can do that too!

Will my character know their lives are being changed?
That's entirely up to you! The level of effect will be up to every individual player, and we can blame Fandom for why some people are affected and some aren't. So if, for example, the fans paired up two random characters:
Both characters could be totally into it without realizing anything's wrong.
Both characters could be together without having any idea how it happened.
One could be totally into it while the other doesn't know how this happened.

How your characters react to the changes around the island is totally your decision. If you'd also like the fans to try and change your character and not have them affected by all, that's fine! Just work it out OOCly with someone playing a fan, and there's no need to sign up for that.

How will the fans know what I want from my character?
There will be a sign up post after we've selected the fans, about a week from now. If you're planning to do something big (new pairings, deaths, bringing back old characters) we ask that you drop a comment in there to say what you're planning to do. This is so the fans can see what it is you want done and so things can be looked over by us/the admins in case any plots toe the line. If you want a specific fan to work their mojo, you can also work things out OOCly and preplay things, too.

This isn't my thing. How do I opt out?
You don't really have to, since everyone will be opting in to be affected. The fans will only make the characters do things with OOC permission, so if you don't sign up for anything and don't ping the fans, they'll leave you alone. If you choose to interact with anyone who has been affected by the plot, though, you will of course have to deal with them being different.

Will my character remember this afterwards?
Yep! Everyone will have full memory of the events.

What if I want to keep something the fans changed?
That depends on what it is. If the fans pair up two characters and you decide you'd like to keep them together, or gave your character a job as part of a stripper AU or something, go for it! But anything that is given/taken away during the plot will go away as of Sunday. So if you made your character a millionaire, that money will be gone when the plot's done, etc.

I'm also really, really okay with a fan giving Anakin a makeover. Jesus hair is so out, ya'll.

Just throwing out that I'm up for pretty much anything with Jessica, Mira, and Zayne. Especially any cracked out ships for Jess, because that seems to be a thing I enjoy.

I think I'm kind of cruel. Because I'd really, really, really love to have Allie turned human for the weekend be it by magic spell, mystical artifact or whatever.

Also if anyone wants a pregnant alien, the traumatized daughter of the President or a mystical svetocha to play with, my alum and my dropped characters are all available.

It would probably help to list my peeps: Anna, Alex, Natasha, Steve, Petra, Zero, Z, Roy.

And the retired ones I'd be most comfortable bringing back would be Miho, Spock, and Jenny, I think, but if anyone has an idea for any of the others I'm open.

All of my kids past and present are open for hijinks! (Presuming there's anyone with an interest in hijinking.) So Bo/Xander/Mavis for present day and Door/Francine/Eliza/Emmett/Illyria/Cally/Edmund/Ace for rewriting history.

In conclusion, I play a lot of girls for a die-hard m/m slasher. This is not a new observation, just one that becomes painfully obvious when I list them out.

I'm a total blank slate for this one so my current guys are open for ideas. And those guys would be: Jim Kirk, Sam LaCroix, Nobody Owens, and Percy Jackson.

As for my past peeps, I'd be totally willing to bring back John Crichton (or kill him off or make him anything since I know Natalie wants to bring Aeryn back and I can do anything to up the dramaz), Benton Fraser, Cedric Diggory, Ned and Loki.

Maybe Cedric'll get caught up in Twilight-mania or something since poor RPattz can't escape that.
