Open Forum Round-Up And Stuffs (That's A Technical Term)
Hi, folks, and welcome to your slightly overdue Round-Up for September's Open Forum.
Since there weren't a huge number of separate topics discussed, we thought we'd combine the round-up with a few other reminders, plus a refresher on who's hanging out in your admin-team-of-love-and-cookies, since it's been a while and we do have a few genuinely new players among us these days.
So first, a mix of
AIM Chat: Yes, there is one! It's gogremlins, and contents may vary and/or settle during shipping, but it's still there and open for business.
Suggestions: Sex Pollen Week should make a surprise return: your wish is our command! Phone Tree should make a less surprising return: your wish is also our (somewhat delayed) command, and everyone is still welcome to ping into that to add their information!
General Interaction: Open posts are open! Don't be afraid to toss your character into any post that their character-type would reasonably be allowed to attend. Slow-play is also fine, especially in classes, where interaction sometimes gets stymied by timezones and work schedules. It's okay to keep pinging through the week once you have a conversation going; don't be afraid that you've missed everything if you can't participate until darkness falls across the land. And students, please at least sign in to all of your classes; that's the base minimum we need to make sure that everyone is still around and part of the game.
Teacher Interaction 1.0 - From The Forum: Fewer teachers are being applied, and this may partially just be the game settling into a slower stage, but there's also the ubiquitous problem of socializing the adults outside of class. Staff meetings were once a thing, and can be again! The Teachers' Lounge community,![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
fandom_lounge, is also there for your use, a bit like a Common Room community for staff characters. (There's also fandomassistant for TA's.) Both comms should now be set so that you can request membership and an admin will approve it, bingbangboom.
Teacher Interaction 2.0 - Posting Classes and TAs: There's a recent issue that none of the above will help with, though, which is: if you don't post your class at all, it's not likely to get a lot of interaction. We understand: work, Real-Life, technology kersplosions and just plain spacing out happen to all of us. It's been happening a bit more frequently than usual this semester, though, and when we (as players) don't see scheduled class posts going up when they're supposed to, it's easy to lose track of the game and feed off each others' lack of participation.
We just want to remind everyone that this is why we suggest having at least one Teaching Assistant! If for some reason you can't post class, that person is there to jump in and either put up their own class post, or at least toss up an OOC note that class has been cancelled for the week. If you have a posting emergency and you don't have a TA for your class, please shoot us an e-mail at administration dot fandomhigh dot net, and the admin team will scout around for a teacher or student character who can temporarily step in, or, depending on time of day and availability, make an OOC announcement for you.
