Okay! We promised you more details on the finale last week when we announced the BDE (sign-ups there are still open!), and so here you go: the solution to fixing the evil the carnival imprints on anyone who fall victim to it is… love. Love, sweet love. And what better way to show one's affection for somebody than through a hug?

Indeed, this is a problem that can't be fixed by punching it really hard.

Hug it out.

But I don't know anyone who'd want to hug my character!

That's okay! We have you covered! There's always the option of modding your character being hugged by a roaming band of NPC huggers (which we'll establish on finale day) - or you can sign up in our shiny OCD below to be RNGed.

RNG…?

Yep! Have a becarnivalled character in need of a hug? Sign up in the appropriate OCD and we'll let the RNG crunch numbers and find you a hugger. Conversely, if your character's staying normal for the plot and needs something to do, please consider signing up to be a hugger. Your fellow Fandomites will thank you.

Probably after they've tried to kill you, but still.

If we don't get enough huggers, admin characters will, of course, step in, so everyone gets a chance to play out going back to normal.

But I don't want to be RNGed…

Be a spork-thrower. Those knife throwers are using antiquated technology. Jalian can be on the forefront of carnival cutlery throwing.

I signed Éponine up to run a carnival booth and ferret out likely marks for other carnival denizens. Maybe Jalian could lure them into another game booth or sideshow tent of DOOM afterward?

For that matter, if anyone else wants to have her occasionally pick out targets for them, I'm up for it.

I'm not sure if that fits Jalian much, but now that I've changed my mind about Cecil, he could definitely do it! :)

Hugger looking for a huggee? Huggee looking for a hugger? Here's where you can brainstorm, if you don't want to hit the RNG but you don't have other plans.

No, seriously, alien tendrils means that Venom can GROUP HUG EVERYONE. And he's available for it!

If you've already got a hugger in mind and things set up, you're good to go!

How long does a hug have to last to count? Is it immediate? Is there time for the carnie to fight back or try to escape?

...Do they have to conscious for the hug to be effective?

I'd say the huggee would be able to fight back until a couple of seconds into the hug, after which they'd still. The hug would have to go on for a somewhat significant amount of time (like, less wrap-your-arms-round-WHOOPS-I'm-outta-here, more old-friend-I-haven't-seen-in-a-while).

And no, they don't have to be conscious.

For the physically transformed, will they change back right during the hug?

Yep, most certainly! The RNG is just there to find our huggees some love if they need it or want someone random.
