meme: sorting hat!
Since we haven't done this one since almost a year ago to the day, and I'm once again totally alone in my office all day long. Wah.

For those of you not familiar with Harry Potter, there are four houses into which the students are sorted based on certain defining traits:
Gryffindor - daring, courage and chivalry
Hufflepuff - hard workers, loyalty, fairness
Ravenclaw - wit, learning, and wisdom
Slytherin - cunning, resourcefulness and ambition
A couple points for clarification because I've seen a lot of sorting stuff over the years:
All hero types are not necessarily Gryffindors.
All jerks/bad guys are not necessarily Slytherins, nor are all Slytherins necessarily jerks/bad guys.
Hufflepuff is not where you stick someone just because you can't think of anything else.
People can totally fit into more than one house.
All you have to do is ping your characters in, and people can chime in with which house they think your character belongs in. You can totally comment as to where you think your character should go, too. Feel free to give reasons when sorting peoplebecause that's half the fun, just don't be mean or I will totally come over there. And don't forget to check back during the day as more people ping in.

I totally can't say work as an excuse. I have a to-do list with three things on it and I'm here another six and a half hours.
Re: Rapunzel | Celia Bowen | Irene Adler | Cheryl/Carol Tunt | Rory Skywalker | Sookie Drake
I haven't interacted enough with Celia or Irene yet and I don't know their canon that well. Based on Sherlock Holmes original stories I'd probably put her in Slytherin but based on what I've read in game I'd lean her towards Ravenclaw.
Cheryl/Carol... Jesus. I have no idea.
I'm rambling. Does it sound like I'm rambling?

HOWEVER. I also see a lot of Gryffindor in her, because Raven's utter devotion to her friends makes her do

Barry Ween/Vic Moretti/Jayne Cobb
Hard for me to pick just one for my group except for Jayne. Jayne's a total Slytherin.

But Anders seems like a sort of reluctant Gryffindor -- like, a guy who totally will do the right, brave thing, and will go off on quests and adventures and so on, but is going to bitch his way through it.

But I curious if people agree so HAVE AT IT.
Johnny
World-saving, swaggery, super-courageous and attention-seeking but maybe doesn't think through his plan 100% of the time -- but it still somehow works because he's a total, total Gryffindor.

Eleanor Lamb / Pam Poovey / Rinoa Heartilly / Rikku
Eleanor Lamb
I lean Ravenclaw for actual canon-Harry-like reasons -- ie, I think Eleanor inherently wants to be good, and would sit there going, 'Not Slytherin, not Slytherin,' mostly because we all know that's where Sofia would go, and Eleanor wants the opposite of that.

Hannibal Lecter
Re: Hannibal Lecter
I mean, the whole eating-people does make him stand out a little, sure. But I think he'd want to be in Ravenclaw, too -- if the hat was debating it, like it does in canon with Harry, Hannibal would totally want to be in Ravenclaw because being in Slytherin would totally blow his cover.
(Not that all Slytherins are evil, at all, but it would definitely make it harder to cover up the whole cannibal thing if his house was kind of known for being not-that-nice.)

So I guess I'm saying Raven's a Slytherpuff? Is that a thing?
And meanwhile Pinkie Pie is going to like, take over as Hufflepuff house head when she comes back to Hogwarts to teach after being a student. She is the Hufflepuffiest Hufflepuff ever.

Jono/Warren/Elsa/Sparkle/Nikolai/Reno
Re: Jono/Warren/Elsa/Sparkle/Nikolai/Reno
Sparkle is definitely a Slytherin, but I think it's by necessity. He had to be for himself, because nobody else was. He's a survivor, and that's meant he's had to get street-smart and ruthless sometimes. By nature, I think he's a lot closer to Hufflepuff; he just hasn't had people to be loyal to, much benefit from his hard work, or much fairness in his life. *hugs him*
Jono, on the other hand, is most definitely a Gryffindor. Possibly not for the best of reasons all the time (he is worthy, dang it, and needs to stop throwing himself in front of metaphorical bullets for people!), but a Gryffindor.
Reno so far (don't know his fandom) seems to be the good kind of Slytherin - he'll do what it takes to get things done, though hopefully that involves keeping people alive.
Nick, you are such a Gryffindor! Stop pretending you're a Slytherin. *sigh*
Warren...I have no clue about! Hufflepuff maybe, because of the loyalty?

Kathy/Evie/Karla/Navaan
Kathy/Karla
Kathy is a toss-up, I'd say. She's one of those kids that sat down under the hat expecting Ravenclaw because of how hard she studies, and even the hat had to take a moment to waffle about it before flinging her into Gryffindor, confusing the heck out of everyone, especially her. And then shit got real and she completely stepped up to prove that she's Gryff material, no question about it. Her parents hate it.
Karla is one of those not-evil Slytherin, I'd say. She does what she needs to do in order to do what needs to get done, consequences be damned. Yeah, she'll push herself too hard for her friends and run off to play hero and she's more fierce than a whole pack of badgers if you hurt her friends, but being Queen comes first, and everything she's had to do along the way shows just how ambitious and resourceful she really is.
... So somebody should put her in a snek sweater.

Joker | Squall | Mike Ehrmantraut
Squall Leonhart
Gryffindor's out, because while Squall's the hero type, he doesn't do it because he needs to save the day, he does it because it's his job. He's not a Slytherin; he doesn't have that kind of cunning or ambition. And he's not a Ravenclaw who likes knowledge: he wants to know how to do specific things in order to further what he needs to do.
But I'm not calling him a Puff as in the default "he doesn't fit anywhere else vOv" thing either. He's -- okay, it takes him a while to realize that he cares about people, because trauma, but once he does, it's like, touch his peeps and die.
So it's like he's a Hufflepuff at heart who was traumatized into pretending he was a Gryffindor, and then when he learns to give a shit about people, back into Puff.
