Apparently we haven't done this since July 2014, and since we have new people with new canons coming in, why not?

Ping in with your canon (as specifically as you'd like for giant insane comic, SW and Power Ranger stuff). Then wait for other people to ping in with their canons! If you're familiar with it, tell them! And then, yay, new people to squee with!

It's a bit rough to start, but then IT GETS SO GOOD.

I watched the first couple of episodes, and then one of the ones with Nicki Minaj! It was cute!

It's so super cute! And worth checking out more thoroughly for the arc they introduce near the end of Season One. (Jail Break is the episode that really won me over. I was refusing to give the series an inch until my coworkers cornered me and watched it with me in the room. And then THAT stinkin' episode happened and I had to go back and watch everything. AGH.)

This is terrible, but all I know about it is what comes up on Tumblr drama blogs. Apparently social justice-y teenagers take cartoons very seriously?

But the show sounds cool.

:D ... There are reasons I don't bother with Tumblr much anymore.

The show is neat, though. They're doing a lot of things that the competition networks *coughDisneyXDcough* still don't have the guts to pull. (It's nice to see two ladies in love and actually allowed to kiss on air, for example. Even if the Gems aren't technically strictly female, they're very much presented as such.)

Yeah, Tumblr gets into a lot of "if you aren't 100% perfect all the time, you're trash and anyone who likes you is trash." And that started to both bum me out and make me feel old, so I quit most of it.

But! I am all for gay cartoon ladies. Even if they aren't strictly ladies.

I heard about the drama of a bunch of jerks ganging up on a fanartist for her representation of Rose Quartz at one point, and I just gotta give my head a shake. I have no patience for that kind of internet 'justice' these days. I'll be shaking my cane at the internet from Twitter, where if I see that kind of vitriol, at least I won't see it in triplicate as I scroll my timeline.

The show is much more open and accepting than its scary rabid Tumblr fanbase, I promise.

Yeah, that was the incident that stuck with me. And, like, there is room for calling out another fan for making art that comes across as inconsiderate or a little ignorant or whatever ... but that's not the way to do it. Nobody should be threatened because she drew a fictional character differently than you think is ideal.

Exactly. It's one thing to go, "uh, that isn't actually okay," and then explain the issue, and another thing to harass and bully a kid over old art until something horrible happens to her.

There are reasons that, while I'll probably never leave Fandom, I will likely never get involved in fandom.

The only fandom I was ever active in was for Buffy, and the literal worst person I knew in it wrote a book about how wonderful it was.

... I feel like that says something.
