meme: more than meets the eye
It looks like this one was just done in May, four months ago to the day, but now there's new kids! And maybe people changed over the summer! And plus I find it really helpful when I'm playing with people to know what they're supposed to look like, too.
And also I'm bored.
And also I'm bored.
There are certain characteristics about the people we play that *we* know, but we get tired of repeating in every introductory ping. There's also stuff that players wouldn't really be able to figure out just looking at an icon--how tall someone is, if they have an accent, what kind of clothes they are wearing...and in some cases, if their eyes/hair/whatever are different than the PB we've picked.
So wax poetic about what your characters look/sound like, if they have tics or scars, if they have a distinct singing voice, etc!

Rhys is missing his arm and his eye right now because he went and ripped them out in a cringe worthy QTE in the game. Oh god, I'm not particularly squeamish, but it made me nope out for a little bit.
Other than that, he is tall and lanky. I call him my trash giraffe because of it. Also because he's trash. He wears a dumb ass Hyperion vest and has a skinny tie that randomly tucks into his pants. It's made fun of in the game. I love it.
He also has a data port in his temple to plug into stuff should he need to.
Oh, and when this dumb bastard gets his arm back, he doesn't cover it up. Just rips the sleeve off to show it off.

So Peter's hair is actually decently long, a bit below his shoulders, and he usually wears it pulled back in a ponytail. And he's clean-shaven or scruffy, not actually bearded. It's just hard to find PB pics that reflect that!
Also he's tall - 6'4". And his eyes are grey.

→ Ada Miller is a carnie. The carnival is in her blood, in her bones, and she was born on the midway. She's swagger and glitter and top hats and the dust of the road, the best barker the Millers have, always looking behind at where she's been and never looking forward. And all of that packs itself into the way she moves.
→ Her accent is a mix of her mama's pure Alabama native, and generalized Southern United States. The carnival lives just outside of Phoenix, AZ for three or four months a year, then travels the South and Midwest. Members of the Miller Family come from all over, however, (Chester is from New Jersey), so Ada's accent is a hodgepodge of everything she grew up hearing. She puts on a totally bland could-be-from-anywhere Midwest accent when performing, and can mimic almost anything if she wants, but doesn't bother on Fandom. Ain't no Townies gonna run her off th' island for being carnie trash if she doesn't talk right.
→ Tends to either wear her hair down with her curls flying everywhere, or in a loose ponytail. She has a lot of hair, and sometimes it just gets in the way.
→ Ada is a member of 'Please let it be hot out because the less clothes the better' club. Any given day during the spring and summer, Ada is wearing short-shorts or a skirt, a tank-top, and slightly large cowboy boots. And a LOT of body glitter. She uses it to camouflage her scales...
→ Oh yeah, she's got scales because she's a mermaid.
→ Current Scale Status: Her scales are currently an iridescent coppery/gold color, which makes it pretty easy to blend with body glitter and her skin tone.
Teensy scales are on her abdomen where she got stabbed by the Brood. They're so tiny that she doesn't even bother to glitter them most of the time. Scales juuuuust barely bigger than body glitter are all along her collarbone, at the small of her back, tops of her thighs, and in the fold of her elbow. Her biggest scales are the size of her pinky nail, and are located at the nape of her neck.
→ Right now, she does NOT have a tail! Her legs are still legs, thankfully. She just has webbed toes (hence her hate of shoes and inability to wear ones in her size), and very small webs between her fingers, and the scales. If you cut Ada, she bleeds blood, it's just got different DNA.
→ Non-magical 1000%. Mermaids in her world are evolution, not magic, so if you sense magic you won't get anything off her. If you can smell/sense non-humans, then Ada will ping strangely. While her father was human, mermaid DNA says "Bzzzpt! You Lose!" and Ada's doomed to end up fully aquatic eventually.
→ Fairly graceful, and clearly at home in her own body. Has great spatial sense, because Mermaid Evolution and needing to be able to think/move in multiple directions at the same time.
→ Very faint scars around her wrists that resemble rope-burn, which she rubs at when she's upset or lost in her own head. Similar scars near both ankles, but given her propensity for wearing boots, they shouldn't be seen that often. Both sets are the result of a trauma she really does not want to talk about, so bringing them up will result in her shutting down and walking off.
→ As we move in to fall, will wear more long skirts/dresses, eventually switching to pants and SO MANY LAYERS OF SWEATERS. SO MANY. Ada doesn't like restrictive clothing because it's uncomfortable on her scales, but she gets cold super-easy.

BritishImperial accent.♠ Tall - she's taller than Leto! I tend to go with almost 5'9" - same as the actress.
♠ Blonde with reddish/coppery highlights which goes to her shoulders. Usually worn in elaborate twists or braids under FABULOUS HATS when out in public. It's only ever down in private or with friends, and even then it still usually has tiny braids in it.
♠ Has the deep blue-on-blue glowing eyes (yes, they are VERY NOTICEABLE) of the Fremen.
♠ This semester she'll be Fremen tunics/robes while teaching, but is usually wearing fabulous Imperial gowns when in public. She's got one or two pairs of 'contemporary' clothing that she only wears when going off-island. Renee and Faith made her buy them.
♠ Impeccable posture and manners. She is a Princess Royal and Empress of the Known Universe, and behaves accordingly. In public.
♠ Very graceful, liquid motion, much like a predator. She *is* Fremen. Since she is a desert creature, there is no unnecessary movement. She is economy of gesture.
♠ She carries a crysknife with her at all times, although it's often concealed during her office hours or while teaching under the folds of her elaborate gowns.
♠ Ghanima is Pre-born; her mother, Chani, consumed so much melange during her pregnancy that Ghanima awoke to full, adult consciousness before birth, receiving the genetic memories of both their male and female ancestors. This means she has voices in her head. Lots and lots of voices, and they're all real people. She's got excellent mental discipline, but probably would register strangely to any telepathic abilities.
♠ She is Bene Gesserit, Reverend Mother, and Sayyadina all in one. Ghanima can read the tiniest twitch of your eye or gesture of body language to know when someone is lying or hiding something and will call you on your bullshit.

And skin ranging from "white" to "downright chalky", since it gets whiter the longer she's in the sun.

- Roscoe is about 5'8" or so and has an athletic build. He's got hella muscles. He may look a bit taller, too, because he wears heels often.
- He's half-black and half-white, with dark brown eyes.
- Currently, his hair is mostly shaved in the style below-

- Wears makeup most of the time, unless he's working out. That includes nail polish, eyeliner, sometimes lip gloss or lipstick, and mascara.
- Wears men's and women's clothes interchangeably, about 50/50. He likes long skirts, black leggings, colorful mesh tops, jean vests and tank tops, as well as athletic shorts and jackets. He's a big fan of baseball caps and knit hats too. For shoes, you'll see a lot of heels, but also a lot of boots and athletic sneakers.
- Usually has a purse of some kind on him (he calls them handbags. He loves handbags). Wears a lot of jewelry, too. Lots of bangle bracelets and long gold chains.
- Most of his clothes/makeup/handbags are very expensive, if you're the type to notice that sort of thing. He does have a small collection of thrift store finds, though.

- Doesn't have much of an accent, but he's from Los Angeles.
- Talks loudly.
- Can sing really well - he's taken lessons.
physicality
- Moves very gracefully, with good posture and a keen awareness of his surroundings. He doesn't often bump into things.
- Can dance really well too. He's good at most physical activities he tries: dancing, skateboarding, basketball, those weird Wii Fit games that make you get up and move around.
- Touches people a lot, just casually. He's barely aware that he's doing it.
smell
- Every once in a while, he might occasionally smell a little bit like weed.
- Usually he smells like Axe.

Unless noted, Archer is always in a suit and tie. If he's gearing up for a fight he's usually dressed in black and wearing a $900
turtletactical-neck shirt. He has black hair and blue eyes and (in my mind) resembles a very young yet handsomer Sean Connery.However, for some reason the description of Zooey Glass from Salinger's "Franny and Zooey" comes to mind whenever I think of Archer. He's "the blue-eyed Jewish-Irish Mohican scout who died in your arms at the roulette table at Monte Carlo."
Archer is always loud and usually drunk or drinking some kind of alcoholic beverage.

She is usually wearing black clothes and a black leather jacket and boots. . If she knows she might be going someplace where there will be trouble and has to use her powers, she'll wear her X-man unitard underneath her outfit as her normal clothes will burn off once her power activates.

The tattoo on her arm in those pictures linked above isn't there yet, but she'll get it later.

She's very thin and flat-chested and moves gracefully and fast.
She wears eyeliner but otherwise not a lot of makeup.
Her speaking voice is on the lower end of normal.
She's the exact opposite of clumsy and notices everything in her peripheral vision.
The faster she's moving, the more focused she is. If she sits still for too long, she almost wants a nap. She zones out.

He is shorter than you might expect, 5′ 7″ going with the actor's height.
While he can definitely be quite intimidating if he wants to, I almost always let him be more relaxed and less of an emperor when he's in Fandom and among friends. He figures he will have enough of the former in the millennia to come.
He also has extreme strength and speed, and is virtually indestructible, which is why I don't really want to put him in any fights.
And clips, because I like to go looking for them.

He will always ALWAYS have liquor at hand. Whether it's in a glass, a tumbler, a cup, a flask, or straight from the bottle in a pinch, if you see him without liquor, something has gone terribly wrong.
You can basically trust Frank to look mostly like his PB in terms of his face and hair because I found a PB who looks like Teen Paul F Tompkins enough to make my icons accurate.
