SUMMER (SECOND SESSION) 2018 WORKSHOP SIGN-UPS

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone! It's time to sign up for your Second Session Summer 2018 Workshops! These sign-ups are for both NEW and RETURNING students (but not graduating seniors, unless they're TAs.)!

Please read the following before you start signing up:

1) Teacher and Student Class Expectations! The all important guideline for what is expected of the players in Fandom High. Please give it a once-over even if you've seen it in some form or other before - consider it a good thing to click and read while I put up the OCD!

2) Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - given name, then family name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

3) PC classes are those taught by a teacher character, the things you're signing up for here, as opposed to the NPC classes, which are discussed in their own thread towards the end of this post.

The Important Stuff About Signing Up For Classes

1) Each student character MUST sign up for at least 2 PC classes. Each player may only sign up for a MAXIMUM of 8 PC classes, spread among your student characters in any way you choose, as long as each has the minimum of 2. (Yes, this means that if you only have one student, you could sign them up for 8 classes. Just think carefully about whether you have the availability to handle that.)

2) If you're a TA for a class, you need to sign up for that class. It will count towards your minimum 2 / maximum 8 courses. Please note TA-ship in the sign-up, so the character won't be counted towards the class-maximum of 20 students. Teachers: please refrain from having your own character act as the TA as it defeats the purpose of having a back-up player to post for you!

3) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap.

4) If you sign up, you need to show up. Class attendance is how we keep track of your character's activity. If you repeatedly fail to at least sign in to your classes, we'll have to contact you about it, and you could be asked to leave the game.

5) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.

6) To be fair to people in all time-zones, sign-ups are not first-come, first-serve. Excess numbers in classes will be whittled down with the handy-dandy Random Number Generator (RNG).

Expanding beyond the beach, this workshop is here to give you a good summer experience, even if you spend the rest of it cooped up in air conditioning.

MON: Period 2: Bob: Fun With Magic

Sure, magic can be deadly or annoying or used by rotten people, but it doesn't have to be that way! When was the last time you had *fun* with it? Welcome to a class that may feature anything from magic things to ride, to magical pranks to pull on each other! It'll be fun (for your teacher, at least). No magical abilities needed to take the class, though if you have any, you may be drafted to help out.

MON: Period 3: Carlysle & Wilson: Netflix 101

Learn everything from how to choose the right show to binge to how to stop binging and go to sleep! (jkjkjk that's impossible)

MON: Period 4: Skywalker: Even More Flying

We'll get to even more of the ships--both real and simulated ships/planes/hovecrafts that look the coolest to fly. Because it's the summer and even if you're learning, it should be fun.

TUESDAY

TUES: Period 1: Rogers & Stark: PE Part 2

We still haven't made you play stickball! Or rock tossing or whatever it was Steve did for fun before TV! Come for the PSAs, stay for the laps.

TUES: Period 2: Reno & Iris: Sabotage, Infiltration, and Blowing Shit Up

Like it says on the tin! Enjoy six weeks where the first three weeks will be devoted to making sure your sabotage, infiltration, and blowing shit up skills are up to snuff, and then spend the next two weeks planning and plotting how to put them to use for the grand finale against your fellow students, teachers, and townies in week six! This cannot possibly go wrong!

TUES: Period 3: Aphra: Baby's Second Fieldwork

Now that you've got a taste for real proper archaeological fieldwork, it's time for another taste. With even more actual digs!

THUR: Period 1: Kenway: Swashbuckling!

Right, so you've decided you'd rather live free than toil as some other man's labor. Good. Now how do you proceed? Captain Kenway'll lead you through the best ways to battle, to plunder, and to get those bloody sails workin'.

THUR: Period 2: Jarrus: Laying Low 2.0: More Lessons for Life Under the Radar

A continuation and expansion on the laying low workshop offered at the start of the summer, this class will cover topics such as improvisation, identity, making certain basic needs are met even while on the run, and, yes, when fighting might be necessary after all. All students welcome, whether they've taken the previous class or not.

THUR: Period 3: Cara & Burnsides:Self-Care for Optimal Stabbing

Adventuring is hard, and it's easy to forget the little things. But those little things are important and neglecting them can be fatal. So come join us in learning how to do a little self care. So you can stab folks better.

FRIDAY

FRI: Period 1: Shokudaikiri: Japanese Blades

The blades of Japan are far more than simply katana! In this class you'll meet 7 different types of weapons and they'll show you the basics in how to wield them!

FRI: Period 2: Starsmore: Brooding for Dummies

Spend the next six weeks learning to brood from the CHAMPION at competitive brooding! Learn from the best to be the best! Classes will include the best way to brood, where to brood, when to brood, and what fashion is most suitable for brooding! Being on fire and/or looking consumptive and tragic will earn you extra credit but it's not necessary! Brood your little teenage hearts out with the champ!

FRI: Period 3: Blackstone: Construction 102

Construction is a marketable skill that will be useful wherever you go; shelter is one of humanity's basic needs, after all. This summer workshop intensive will cover the basics of construction with hands-on experience in an actual building project, where students will learn how to be safe, how to work together, and how to take pride in a job well done.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN CONSTRUCTION 101 NOT REQUIRED.

COMMUNITY CENTER CLASSES

We have two Community Center classes this session. As always, it's not required to take these classes and they are open to students, townies, teachers, alumni in for that day, squirrels, etc. If you want to sign up, though, it's helpful for the teacher to gauge interest!

TUES: Lecter: Eat Your Heart Out

Have you ever watched Chopped and wished you could supply the ingredients? Or been sad (or glad) you couldn't eat the results? Well, now you can! Each week, Doctor Hannibal Lecter will bring the kitchen and some basics, and then make a meal out of those and whatever else you bring. Students, teachers, townies, alumni - drop on by and bring ingredients, and he will use them all!* Then, you will have to get to eat it! Vouchers to purchase food, if the guinea pigs students are so inclined, will be provided.

*Any toxic or non-edible ingredients will end up as garnish or table decoration.

THUR: Octavian: Modern Earth Entertainment (Continued)

Because we've been enjoying it (and occasionally sobbing like anything), another set of nights watching Earth movies and wondering what sense they make and/or why all the animation is traumatizing! Come out, eat popcorn, drink soda, and watch movies!
