And now to finish out June (and our midsummer break), the island is once again having a bye week. Once again, the island will find itself outside of Baltimore, everyone's homes and businesses will be as structurally sound as normal, and there will be nothing and no one trying to kill the island's inhabitants. Well, nothing and no one unusual, I'm not responsible for anyone picking fights with the alot.

Is it home?

Well...not exactly. And people will be able to tell as soon as they wake up. This is a black and white world, with glorious sepia sunrises and sunsets. So bust out those tasteful black and white icons, they'll be getting quite the workout this weekend! (Of course regular colored icons are a-okay to use, but that doesn't change that the world and everyone in it looks like an extra from Pleasantville.)

But wait! What about Pride?!?

Look. It's Pride weekend. Do you really think the island is going to let it stay black and white for Pride?! No way. So, come Saturday, just before the parade gets started, a rainbow is going to arc across the sky and with it, color will come back to the island.

The effect will fade by sepia sunset on Sunday, but for the weekend, we get bright and vibrant colors.

Dates: June 24 - June 30

Causeway: On! You can go into B&W Baltimore or to your home dimensions. If you do go home, there will be a few minutes where you remain black and white, then color starts to fill in. The effect is reversed when you return home.

But like, okay. I had a colonoscopy yesterday. I'm sure I've forgotten SOMETHING after that (and the resultant tapas orgy because FOOD.)

Sparkle is SO going to be taking artsy photos all week. At least partly to keep himself from flailing too much about inheriting Pride (GOD STARSMORE GIVE A GUY A BIT MORE TIME TO PLAN) and partly because LOOK AT THIS PLACE.

So naturally, he'll be stocking clothing to go with the mood. He has no idea what colours they'll turn to when the colour comes back, sure, but at least during the week, you'll be able to have your photos taken in glorious cinematic B&W if you swing by Demon Marcus, and he'll help you kit yourself out in clothes for Pride, too. Of course he remembers which garments had rainbows, at least.

Don't end the world before FH Pride!

Throw monsters and radioactivity at her and she'll deal, but this is the week that's gonna drive Sabine nuts.

That's fine. The next bye week is gonna drive (almost) everyone nuts.

Wait, hang on, if someone's taking artsy photos all week, would they turn into color photos when the effect wears off? Or would it be a photo of something black and white at the time so it would stay black and white? Or would film photos work differently than digital photos, if the film camera was loaded with color film, since the chemicals that normally produce the color would become colorful again at the end of the week, but the digital camera still just recorded the ones and zeroes associated with the greyscale?

AM I OVER THINKING THIS? YES. YES I AM. YOU CANNOT STOP ME. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

My only response (and literally what has been in my head this whole time I was thinking about this)

See, now you're reminding me of the Warehouse 13 episode where they get stuck in a Noir world, and Pete's like "Oh my god we traveled back in time!" and Myka just gives him a look. "Actually, Pete, the 1930s, like the rest of history were in color."

I'm also wishing I had more artistically oriented characters right now, so they could bring up this question/discussion ICly.
