Meme: Class ideas!

Because it's that time of year again, and I, for one, am drawing a blank. Some copy-pasta from last time:

Sometimes we start running out of ideas for what our characters could teach! Or have a great idea for an adult to play but...come up short on a class idea.

Thus, a crowd sourcing meme! You can either put your current adult character down and have people chuck ideas of classes at them (ie: "Anakin Skywalker should absolutely teach a class on making friends and influencing people because he clearly HAS NO IDEA HOW TO DO EITHER THING and it would be hilarious," or "Steve Rogers should teach a class about stage makeup and stunt work because of his time on the USO circuit."); ideas for amazing tag-teacher mashups; teachers you wish someone would apply; or adults/alumni you want to apply and need a class idea for!

Go forth and brainstorm!

I have all of one adult on-island right now. And all I can think of is a yoga class at the Community Center. . . .

I kind of think Duke would be really fun with something he absolutely did not plan on teaching, and he accidentally ends up with like, classic lit.

I do headcanon him reading a lot of, like, Tolstoy. . . .

(I on the other hand would maybe have trouble writing such a class, as I've skipped most classics.)

Me too, and the one time I taught an English class it was mainly me going to the Spark Notes website and going "what was that book about, anyway?"

I will say, your suggestion got me thinking of the lit classes I did take (I had to take six of them for my major, I was just REALLY GOOD AT DODGING CLASSICS), which made me think of my "journeys in literature" course, which led me to Duke maybe doing a class on, like, the history of Earth travel. OREGON TRAIL! THE TITANIC! CAVEMEN CROSSING THE BERING STRAIGHT! . . . . OTHER THINGS I HAVEN'T THOUGHT OF YET!

I haven't decided if I want to move her to teaching so she's more involved with the island ~~especially given the other class I've submitted...~~, but maybe, maybe…

. . . I haven't interacted enough with Iris, clearly, as I'm drawing a total blank on character-specific classes.

But I do think it'd be fun to do, like, a math class where all the word problems were Fandom-specific. "A universe-eating cloud has started chewing on one end of the island, three miles away. The rickshaws can move at 10 miles an hour, but can only get you halfway there. How much of the island will have been eaten by the time the strike team arrives, if they have to travel the rest of the way on foot?"

By some miracle (by which I mean I stumbled on an old thing and decided to steal it) I actually have my class for this semester, but am always always always on the lookout for new ideas.

Kitty could do a bartending course!

. . . Possibly as a CC class, if the moose objects to actively encouraging alcohol consumption by minors.

...I do need some more bartenders. HERE COME TAKE A CLASS.

Definitely coming out of the woodwork for a moment to field any ideas or suggestions for Rosa, because she is being difficult again.

Although I am legit looking at possibly three other teachers right now without her (*cough*), so I am also fine with her taking a semester off.

BUUUUT.....

(Also potential alternatives for Amaya just to show her that she really CAN'T just teach shop for all eternity)

I'd say she and Duke could get forced to tag team a class, but it might result in a murder.

And since solving the murder is a no-go because you dont exactly have to be Sherlock Hmes to figure that one out, the class then becomes the challenge of how to cover up the most obvious murder in the entire multiverse instead...

I'd be lying if a dual-effort moose-mandated yoga class didnt at least a few times cross my mind, though...

Most stressful yet amusing yoga class ever.

Maybe as a summer workshop!

You could also have competing classes somehow. I don't have suggestions on what that means exactly, but, rivalry!

Honestly, this is a class idea I've tossed around a few times for myself, but I would love to see your and Rosa's take on a class built entirely around Maxine Sayings.

Ohmygod. What is your brain and can I please distill it to just inject inot my own for pure, unadulterated nonsense crack? Because I not only love that, but I love that you've been just sitting on that even more.

Alternatively, I did stumble across an FFXV shipping post based on the Love is... comics, which I feel is a solid and suitable alternative for such beautifulness.

I mean, I'm kind of fond of my brain, but you can borrow it! So long as you give it back! … and I've been sitting on this for over a year. >.>

as for the 'Love is' idea:

a) that's super, super cute and I LOVE IT and b) I'm sorry, you're ruining me with Ignis AND shirtless Gladio :D

I know this is a bit vague, but I think Amaya should be forced to teach something about feelings. Maybe something like Sex Ed with a focus on the emotional parts. I suppose it would annoy Rosa to have to teach something like that too. Or together.

Do not even tempt me to force Amaya into a coteacher position for Shunsui's class, because I can't let my girls have nice things, apparently. XD

You know it would be wonderful. At least Shunsui would be ok with it?

Most likely in a tag-team with Verity, but maybe by himself? Either way, ideeeeas.

Has Verity done a cryptids class? I feel like maybe she has. Could they maybe do an "non-human/alien species 101" class or something?

I would love it if someone with better research skills/memory than I would do a History of Fandom class. Not only has this game been around FOREVER, but we've got so many random "back in the 20s in Fandom, this or that baddie attacked before. . . ." that could be played on.

Plus, like, you could probably just literally make shit up (with admin approval?). "During the American Civil War, Fandom fucked off to Vulcan for three years, but only after it accidentally unleashed an undead plague on one version of the war. . . ."

How far back are we allowed to go for "old characters"? 'Cause my brain went right to Cally. Or Dewey Finn. . . .

Ha! I mean, all the way back except Cally. She is disqualified due to the actress's NXIVM association. :D

I've considered having Seivarden teach something. Or possibly Breq, but I think Seivarden would be more annoyed and the possibly secretly enjoy it. I can't come up with enough lessons about tea though.

Could she do a whole etiquette class, maybe? Or would that boil down into a weekly rant about how everyone should be wearing gloves?

I'd love an etiquette class! I'm not sure how many lessons I could come up with though, so yeah, it would be lots of ranting about gloves and teabags. "How to be civilized" is a good class name though.

Maybe, like . . . different types of etiquette from different cultures. That gives you more classes, and has lots of potential for her to just -- be appalled at everything she's teaching.

Ooo, that's true! There are definitely enough terrible things people on Earth do to fill up a whole semester. ;)
