new old meme: the rant meme!

While looking for something super old the other day I came across a meme that as far as I can tell we haven't done since 2008. So maybe let's try it again!

Comment with any subject that you would like me to rant on, with ~~possible~~ probable swearing involved. Any subject - I don't even have to agree with it.

Ping your characters in, and players can ask them to rant about any subject. For instance, you can ask Anakin about sand and watch him go! You can use OOC knowledge to get them started, but remember that this doesn't actually transfer in-game.

Have fun, and remember to check back to see who else you can get a wall of text from!

I'm just trying to work! I don't even mind sharing the space, even if I was there first. But I'd really like to not get injured because I missed a woodland creature throwing projectiles at me while I'm possibly already doing something dangerous. It'd be the dumbest way to die, save the Wood-throwing till I'm done.

He had everything. He had family who loved him and a good upbringing and training and he could have done anything, and instead he decided to blow it all up, and to keep blowing it all up every time he was presented with an option to do something else. He says he didn't hate Han, then what did killing him even accomplish? He followed Snoke, who treated him terribly, he wanted to follow in Vader's footsteps while knowing exactly how badly that went and how it destroyed his mother's career, and all he ever succeeded in was making himself miserable.

I've forgiven what he did to me, and I'd have been willing to help in any way I could, and joining forces to rebuild it all could have been a good thing. But the only way he be willing to do that is to make me like him, while he knows that I know how miserable he is.

You know, it's not that I'm angry? I really am not. I'm not weirded out either, it's just. Do you know how long I've been trying to find my brother and the people who took him?

Seventeen years.

And I finally found them! I felt at home there, which is-- a whole other thing I still have to unpack, but-- I found them, and they were in the middle of an invasion, so first I had to fix that. And Dylan got caught in the middle of it, too, so I had to fix him.

And right as I finished that. Right as he's in the hospital and there's a chance he might be better and I might have my brother again-- right when it's starting to feel like I have a little bit of control over my life...

... I get grabbed by, or, or, tossed to? Took a wrong turn into? A whole different place. Like-- fuck!

I feel ya on the two character thing.

Let’s have a rant about east coast versus west coast.

People using your father's name during sex.

Why? Just why? It always ruins the mood! He's got nothing to do with the sex, either, He's a sadistic control freak who just likes pushing people's buttons! How did His name become people's go-to when having sex anyway? Have they seen those terribly inaccurate pictures humans make of Him? Do you think that's sexy? Of course not! What is the matter with you?!

Work will definitely get in the way of this, because, boy, do I have some ranters, but I will try to do them justice when I get home!

Summer: the difficulties of working with Jello

Rosa: birthday parties

Anyone over the age of six celebrating a birthday should go to hell.

It's like, oooh, big deal, you survived another year, just like tens of billions of other people on this planet. And, statisitically speaking, the longer you're here, you're more likely to do way more bad on this Earth than you'll ever do good, so, if anything, past the age of six, you should be punished for your birthday, not celebrated.

They're like the ultimate participation award.

You don't even do anything. All that really happened was the world made a full rotation, which, guess what? It does that every other day of the year, too. Woooooow. Suuuuuuper impressive. We're all so proud of you for just existing for the full duration of that. Real good work there, asshole. Have some cake and some presents.

Honestly? Working with jello isn't actually that difficult at all, which is why I like it so much. You can put anything in jello. Like, literally anything, and it works! It's so versitile and interesting and you can really do some cool stuff with it, including some really weird shit, and that's even better.

My one real complaint, though, comes in when you start mixing alcohol into it, because there's only so much alcohol you can use before the whole thing gets ruined and goes to shit. Like, I get the chemistry of it and how it compromises the structural integrity or whatever, but sometimes i really wish you weren't actually limited to how boozy you could make jello, even if, like, okay, yeah, I get it. But come on.

The McShaw trouble. Magically spoiling food. Because, you know, it's not like there aren't masses of people suffering from food insecurity even in a supposedly bucolic town like Haven. And -- and -- they ate local. THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO DO. I mean, mind you, I'm glad we're not seeing whole swathes of corn out in the midwest going rotten on the stalk because someone cut in front of Bill in line at the bank or something, but still.

And COME ON. It rots the entire field? A whole apple orchard went bad. Pigeons fell from the sky. And those poor cows, just because Bill likes ice cream sandwiches as comfort food. . . . Is this supposed to get Bill to go vegan? Are McShaws secretly causing colony collapse in bees by having honey in their tea? If he didn't eat organic and went for tv dinners, could he cause catastrophic shutdown of packaging plants?

PEOPLE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO GET UPSET WITHOUT DESTROYING ENTIRE FOOD CHAINS.

Professional bullies. You know what the people who bullied other kids for fun in school go on to do when they grow up? I mean, some of them get therapy and get their shit together. But the ones who really liked it and don't feel shame go on to become cops.

Oh, sure, there are probably those who go in wanting to "do good for the world" or "protect people", but how long do you think they last, when their coworkers are running around harassing and entraping and profiling people with impunity? It's a culture of corruption. I grew up in a culture of criminality and I've seen conmen with more ethics and dignity than your average cop.

ACAB. *looks at Danny and Audrey and Nathan* They just . . . are also sometimes fun to hang out with.

It had to have happened a bit like that. I can't see why anyone would want to drink coffee without a lot of alcohol in it, not even if you turn it into an excuse for a fancy desert.

Of course I haven't tried it. Why would I? Have you ever smelled it?

You know how sand just gets into every single crevice and just stays there, making everything itchy and awful? Take that, then make it cold until you go inside and then it melts and everything is cold and wet and miserable and you have snow.

Kriffing snow. I grew up in the desert, so even though sand is the literal worst, I enjoy a nice, dry heat, but nooooooo, I had to marry a girl from Connecticut who thinks snow is romantic and likes sweaters and scarves and cute hats and wants to make snowmen in the snow getting cold on purpose and no. No.

Just no.

Well, back pre-Lucifer (ahhhh, pre-Lucifer. My life was so much less complicated.), the DJ was a way to 1) not be like Caritas and 2) provide me a mobile, non-island, untraceable snack should they turn out to be terrible at their job, play bad music, or be annoying. Plus a DJ goes with a dance floor and we have one. I wasn't going to be choosing music all night. I have better things to do with my time.

So a good DJ was extremely handy--it made for one less thing for me to worry about, made sure it didn't look like I was murdering all of the other DJs--though I was--and provided something to dance to. Now we have sad piano music and sad piano music groupies. And I can't eat either of them. It's trying.

Teenagers!

Well, what's there to say? They think they're cute and they're not, they think they're hilarious and they're not, and they think the rules don't apply to them because they are cute and hilarious and that's just. not. true. I have nothing in common with children born in the 21st Century who have been around for a gnat's blink and think they are great experts in absolutely everything. I choose not to waste my time like that.

You know, honestly? I've worked with worse? At least these guys have their free will. And don't seem intent on harassing people just because they can. Which is more than I can say for the Volunteers. Definitely don't miss them.

It's just too bad their way of exercising free will usually manifests in figuring out creative ways to get out of doing anything resembling actual work.

Also, the identical thing always makes me think there's more of them even though logically I know there's only nine.

Uuuuuuugh. She's not a pet, she's a familiar. She's not 'tame', either, but no, she won't attack you. At least, she won't attack you without reason.

But even then, at worst you're just going to end up with some scratches, maybe a bite or two. Because she really does know better, it's just that sometimes she lets her temper get the better of her. Or, okay, sometimes my temper gets the better of her.
