Meme: Reverse questions

I want a meme. We haven't done this one since September.

Tag in with your characters and then people will comment asking the MUNS anything about the GAME or THEIR CHARACTERS, because we all know the muns will answer when the characters won't. They can be specific questions ("How does he feel about her?") or general questions ("Why did you choose this character?", "How do you channel them?", etc).

Don't forget to check back to see who else has pinged in for questions!

Yasha / Beauregard / etc

No guarantee I'll get to these any time soon today because why must my weekends always be consumed by adulting but why not?

Honestly, yeah, there are definitely moments of that. For Beau more than Yasha, I think, since at the point they're at in canon Ashley was still mostly in New York working on Blindspot and so Yasha was either not around or being very minimally modded by other players for combat purposes with no real character development going on. (I am way far away from getting to the point where Yasha's back full time, which tbh I have no idea how to even pull off.)

But yeah, for both of them there are certain interpersonal dynamics within the M9 that I feel are kind of key to character development (or sometimes just a lot of fun) that I can't really replicate, at least without being able to put more thought into it than I can manage.

What's the hardest thing about playing characters from another roleplaying game?

Maybe this is weird, but there's a particular kind of pressure that comes from knowing I'm playing a character that was specifically created and developed by one person for their own roleplaying purposes, as opposed to one that was developed in multiple drafts or in a writers' room or something like that. Kind of like I'm borrowing the keys to someone's car, where I'm like "I promise I'll be really careful and return it to you in pristine condition, okay?"

It's not even that hard, I just make it hard on myself, whoops.

What are the pros and cons of playing canonmates? Yasha and Beau are obviously a current case but you've also had Éponine and Cosette!

Pros: It's really easy to coordinate when certain scenes or interactions need to happen, and I never have to worry about modding myself or making sure everybody's on the same page!

Cons: I'm not able to enjoy/display as much of what I think is fun about their interpersonal relationships as I'd like to, because I cannot be bothered to ping off myself that much. Granted, that was not really as much of an issue for the French girls. The Sentinel Babes, though, oh my god.

What drew you to playing both Yasha and Beau? What was it about them?

So back when I first started planning out Beau's first canon catchup, I kept joking at people that I was going to end up wanting to app Yasha by the end of it. And people kept telling me I should do it. So that happened.

More serious answer, though: they're two people who have a lot of the same kind of damage though to different degrees and and often for different reasons (and a couple of very similar ones). It's had the same kind of impact on both of them, but they've dealt with it differently and it manifests completely differently in both of them; I find that fucking fascinating. (Also never going to get over how Marisha and Ashley managed to pull that off, given that nobody had any idea what the others' character ideas were when they were creating them.)

Besides, canon gave me two explicitly lesbian main characters, and how am I not going to enjoy that given how rarely it happens?

You’re talking to the guy who read all the quotes you posted on the meme earlier this week on CR and relished every one!

What are your favorite types of scenes to play? Do different characters have different types of scenes where you feel they really shine, or is it pretty straight across the board for everyone?

I... honestly have no idea, really, having failed at doing much of anything for a while now? In general though I kind of like situations that let me play up distinguishing elements of characters' personality but also kind of push them out of their comfort zones a little, I think, e.g. whenever Yasha has to socialize and be super awkward about it.
