SUMMER 2021 (SESSON 1) WORKSHOP SIGN-UPS

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone! It's time to sign up for your First Session Summer 2020 Workshops! These sign-ups are for both NEW and RETURNING students, and in a repeat from last year, the workshops are open to EVERYONE: students, teachers, and townies. (but not all of them, so be sure to read carefully.). YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. Please read the following before you start signing up:

1) Teacher and Student Class Expectations! The all important guideline for what is expected of the players in Fandom High. Please give it a once-over even if you've seen it in some form or other before - consider it a good thing to click and read while I put up the OCD!

2) Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - given name, then family name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

3) PC classes are those taught by an actual character, the things you're signing up for here, as opposed to the NPC classes, which are taught by woodchucks discussed in their own thread towards the end of this post.

The Important Stuff About Signing Up For Classes

1) Since we've removed the cap on characters, we have also removed the cap on the number of classes your characters can sign up for, but please consider your RL ability to keep up before chucking a character at every class we're offering.

2) If you're a TA for a class, you need to sign up for that class. It will count towards your minimum 2. (Not you, recent grads.) Please note TA-ship in the sign-up for easy of making the class lists accurate. Teachers: please refrain from having your own character act as the TA as it defeats the purpose of having a back-up player to post for you!

3) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap.

4) If you sign up, please, please try to show up. It lets the mods judge if you're still in the game and it makes the work the teachers are putting into coming up with something fun to interact with so worth it.

5) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.

6) To be fair to people in all time-zones, sign-ups are not first-come, first-serve.

FH class sign-ups will close at 11:59pm Eastern on Friday, May 7th, 2021, and are IG knowledge at the Welcome Picnic.

General FYI: Feel free to make changes to your class choices as long as you do it before the deadline. We use the final pings in each thread to make the class lists, not the email notifs. Have you ever wondered what exactly being a Jedi entails beyond laser swords, terrible haircuts and questionable fashion sense? Wonder no longer as an accredited expert on Jedi history and philosophy takes you on a deep dive of what it really means to be one with the Force.

MON: Period 4: Sidon: Underwater Basket Weaving and Other Aquatic Arts!

It's summer, and that means wonderfully warm weather, spectacularly sunny skies, and as good a time as any to enjoy the plentiful bounties of the sea and all the water has to offer! In this course, you will be lead by none other than I! Sidon! Prince of the Zora! In all the delightful dalliance of the deep! Weave baskets....underwater! Swimming! Fishing! Waterfall diving! Maybe even waterfall CLIMBING! The options are as vast as the wonderous ocean itself, though we shall, alas, have but a short time to explore them! So join me on a fantastic exploration of watery fun for everyone!!!

TUE: Period 1: Valentine & Djarin: Bounty Hunting for Beginners

Join us for a seven-week crash course in bringing in your very own bounty! Learn how to track a ne'er-do-well across the galaxy, capture the criminal by whatever means necessary, and bring them in to the authorities alive (if maybe a little cold.)

TUE: Period 2: Smith: Culinary Crimes

From the dark recesses of the Mid-Century Cookbook and BEYOND lurks recipes so astonishing, so incredible, so disturbing that they can only be considered crimes against cooking, and they are long overdue to be brought to justice! Dragging up some of the most horrible old recipes I can find, we will dredge up these dastardly dishes from obscurity and put them to trial once and for all...by recreating them and boggling at the madness that went into their creation, and ultimately deciding if it's truly overdue for answering to its crimes or...perhaps...maybe not that bad, after all.

TUE: Period 3: Kyōraku: The Art of Haiku

Ahhh, poetry ♥! When one strives to put the music of one's soul into the written or spoken word ♥! And just like Souls themselves, poetry can take on a wide variety of forms, to the classic sonnet, the sweeping epic, and, of course, the brief and understated haiku ♥.

So join me on a journey of appreciation for these little droplets of verse known as the haiku, where each week will doubtless bring inspiration, beauty, and a better sense of the world as a whole through the exploration of the words used to beautify it and give it proper praise ♥. After all...

Sam will be lecturing on such important possible topics as:

A Salute To All Superheroes But Mostly Captain America
A Salute To All Islands But Mostly Not Fandom
A Salute To All Muppets But Mostly Sam Eagle
A Salute To All Birds But Mostly Bald Eagles
A Salute To All Desserts But Mostly Apple Pie

But also Sam’s class is partially Sam telling everyone how weird they are, because Sam thinks they are all weirdos. Sam is not wrong, really.

TUE: Period 5: Yennefer: Magical Theory and Practice

"But magic works completely differently where I'm from!" I don't want to hear it. Some things are universal, and some are just good sense (and some can get you high). In this workshop we will discuss both these universal concepts and what we can learn from our differences.

TUE: Period 6: O'Hara: The Future History of Science

We may be part of Earth's 21st century, but that doesn't mean we have to put up with this level of technology. Come help me pull Fandom into the 22nd at least! We'll work on clean energy, hover technology, and AIs, and suggestions from other advanced scientists are also welcome.

THU: Period 2: Argentum: Photography

Do you like taking photographs? Are you an amatuer photographer, a snapshop enthusiast, or hope to be a professional some day? Want to be a master of the selfie? Well, then, this class is for you! I might not exactly be an expert myself, but photography has been a passion since I was a kid, and now I'd like to share all my knowledge, wisdom, and sharp-shooting skills with you, in this course that will explore photography from all sort of angles!

(Haha, get it? Angles? Like with a camera--nevermind. Maybe it was funnier in my head. You're not actually going to include that part of it, though, right? Oh, okay, good).

THU: Period 3: Skywalker & Skywalker: Try Not to Die

Like Dr. Lecter's class of exploration but with weirder food, more puppetry, driving on the wrong side of the road, and running through cities you've never been to. So, not at all like Dr. Lecter's class.

THU: Period 5: Jaskier & Cara: Adventures in Adventuring

The ins and outs of an adventuring life! Complete with advice on damsel saving and villain fighting.

THU: Period 6: Jones: Drinking Games and "Wine" Tasting

Actually it'll probably be very little wine and/or tasting and just drinking. Look, it's just a f***ing excuse to get s***-faced. Okay?

FRIDAY

FRI: Period 1: Scientia: Cooking for Camp and Field

One need not sacrifice quality food and sustenance while one is on the go; in fact, there are many aspects of being out on the field that could potentially heighten one's culinary experiences. In this course, we will look at methods of cooking outside of the kitchen, in the great wide beyond, when one's resources are limited and their situations not ideal. With these lessons, one might find they can eat like kings even in the muck of the trenches or simplicity of camp.
