SECOND SESSION WORKSHOP SIGN-UPS

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone! It's time to sign up for your Second Session Summer 2021 Workshops! These sign-ups are for both NEW and RETURNING students, and also for teachers and townies, if they are so inclined! Yay! Please read the following before you start signing up:

1) Teacher and Student Class Expectations! The all important guideline for what is expected of the players in Fandom High. Please give it a once-over even if you've seen it in some form or other before - consider it a good thing to click and read while I put up the OCD!

2) Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - given name, then family name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

3) PC classes are those taught by an actual character, the things you're signing up for here, as opposed to the NPC classes, which are taught by woodchucks discussed in their own thread towards the end of this post.

The Important Stuff About Signing Up For Classes

1) Since we've removed the cap on characters, we have also removed the cap on the number of classes your characters can sign up for, but please consider your RL ability to keep up before chucking a character at every class we're offering.

2) If you're a TA for a class, you need to sign up for that class. It will count towards your minimum 2. (Not you, recent grads.) Please note TA-ship in the sign-up for easy of making the class lists accurate. Teachers: please refrain from having your own character act as the TA as it defeats the purpose of having a back-up player to post for you!

3) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap.

4) If you sign up, please, please try to show up. It lets the mods judge if you're still in the game and it makes the work the teachers are putting into coming up with something fun to interact with so worth it.

5) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.

6) To be fair to people in all time-zones, sign-ups are not first-come, first-serve.

FH class sign-ups will close at 11:59pm Eastern on Saturday, July 3rd, 202s, and are IG knowledge through the weekend. (But I am going away for the weekend, so the admin-y spreadsheet will go up Monday afternoon.)

General FYI: Feel free to make changes to your class choices as long as you do it before the deadline. We use the final pings in each thread to make the class lists, not the email notifs. TUE: Period 1: Montgomery: Fire & Rescue Bootcamp

Join experienced firefighter Travis Montgomery each week to get in shape, run obstacle courses, learn about fire, and maybe pick up a little bit of first aid!

TUE: Period 2: Smith: OMG I Could Just PIE

In the grand tradition of summertime cooking classes that explore some of the most revolting unique and surprising recipes from the annals of history and today, this Second Session Recipe Intensive will focus all on the glorious versatility of PIE! Who doesn't love pie? And with this workshop, we'll go well beyond the expectations of the classics. Apple pie? Cherry pie? Key lime? Amateurs'! Take your pie game up a notch with a selection of fascinating new avenues for this traditional dessert that will truly open your eyes to some startling possibilities!

THU: Period 2: January: How to Ride a Bike

Join us for seven weeks on how to ride a bicycle. Maybe other kinds of non-powered Earth vehicles, too! Because it's not going to take seven whole weeks to learn to ride bikes, let's be honest.</s.

THU: Period 4: Blackstone & Diaz: Weapons 101

Weapons! You know 'em, you love 'em, you can't get enough of them!

Or maybe you actually don't know them as well or use them as much as you'd like to, and so, boy, have we got a class for you! This summer intensive is all about...you guessed it...weapons! With each week focusing on a different type of weapon, there's no way you'll walk about from this workshop without feeling more confident in your weapons knowledge or at least most satisfied in your exposure to said weapons. Taught by an expert at using them and an expert at making them, you'll be able to enjoy weapons beyond just that they stab, crush, or shoot!

THU: Period 5: Jaskier & Cara: Bardic Inspiration

The ins and outs of bardcraft and how one might use them in their everyday life! Topics include: Singing, Seduction, Conflict Avoidance, Encouragement.

FRI: Period 1: Argentum & Scientia: Food Photography

A well-known adage among chefs is that "You eat with your eyes," which emphasizes the importance to an appealing presentation to a meal to enhance one's enjoyment of it. Presentation, it is often said, is key. Add this to the rise of social media outlets where one can share their culinary journeys with likeminded folks, and the appeal of a well cultivated hand at food photography can become clear.

So combining one instructor's passion for food and the other's passion for photography, this course will not only enlighten its students to the creation of excellent looking food, but also give you the opportunity to learn how to photograph it to your advantage, so that others will not only appreciate your culinary acumen, but also envy you your upcoming meal.

(Gotta get them LIKES, bro!)

FRI: Period 2: A. Skywalker: Practical Philosophy

At its heart, philosophy isn't about Plato, Nietzsche, or Hegel. It's about thinking about the greater frameworks of our worlds and our lives. Practical Philosophy strives to unite personal experiences with greater thought. Class participation not optional: discussion, challenge and argument are what make us think. And thinking's what we're about.

FRI: Period 3: Stark: Cupcake Skirmishes
