SPRING 2022 CLASS SIGN UPS

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone! It's time to sign up for your Spring 2022 (gulp) Classes! These sign-ups are for all students, and the two Community Center classes are for all characters!

Please read the following before you start signing up:

1) Teacher and Student Class Expectations! The all important guideline for what is expected of the players in Fandom High. Please give it a once-over even if you've seen it in some form or other before - consider it a good thing to click and read while I put up the OCD!

2) Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - given name, then family name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

3) PC classes are those taught by a teacher character, the things you're signing up for here, as opposed to the NPC classes, which you may handwave taking so that your student hasn't taken three classes for their entire high school experience.

The Important Stuff About Signing Up For Classes

1) Each student character MUST sign up for at least 2 PC classes. Since we've removed the cap on characters, we have also removed the cap on the number of classes your characters can sign up for, but please consider your RL ability to keep up before chucking a character at every class we're offering.

2) If you're a TA for a class, you still need to sign up for that class. It will count towards your minimum 2. Please note TA-ship in the sign-up for easy of making the class lists accurate. Teachers: please refrain from having your own character act as the TA as it defeats the purpose of having a back-up player to post for you!

3) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap.

4) If you sign up, you need to show up. Class attendance is how we keep track of your character's activity. If you repeatedly fail to at least sign in to your classes, we'll have to contact you about it, and you could be asked to leave the game.

5) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.

FH class sign-ups will close at 11:59pm Eastern on Friday, December 31st and are considered IG knowledge for your small-talking at the welcome picnic convenience.

General FYI: Feel free to make changes to your class choices as long as you do it before the deadline. We use the final pings in each thread to make the class lists, not the email notifs. Ahhh, the Art of Poetry ♥! Beauty in Words ♥! Small snippets of the heart's desire or epic rambles of heroic undertakings ♥! Poetry is a vast and ecclectic world that we shall explore together in this class, from sonnets to haiku, limerics to ballads, and everything in between ♥!

MON: Period 2: Aphra: Exit Strategies

Life's full of sticky situations, so it's always a good idea to have a plan to get out of them without setting everything in your life on fire. Learn how to make those plans in a relatively controlled environment!

MON: Period 3: Pryde-Barton: Mythbusting

In this class you will conduct science experiments to prove or disprove popular myths. The use of the Danger Shop means that some experiments may get more intense than something in the classroom.

MON: Period 4: Yennefer of Vengerburg: Guiding the Powerful Yet Incompetent

As unfair as it may seem, you can't always be in charge, nor can you rely on those who are in charge to make the correct decisions on their own. Bluntly: sometimes kings are idiots. Convincing them to do so is both an art form and a learned skill, which will be learned through interactive role-playing.

TUESDAY

TUES: Period 1: Sims: Books v. Movies

Over the years, a lot of movies have been made out of short stories and books. We'll be reading some of these stories and watching their movies and discussing the differences between and relative merits of both.

TUES: Period 2: Smith: Rage Against the Machine: How to Dismantle and Destroy Bogus Galactic Empires

Big ass evil space empires getting all up in your galaxy: it's more common than you think! And, believe me, having dealt with at least four different said big ass evil space empires in just about as many years*, you're gonna want to do something about that sh*t. So take this class! Learn how to maybe spot the signs of a rising galactic empire before they start blowing up planets! Learn tips and tricks for team building, weapons smuggling, covert operations, and how to use corporate sponsorships against the megolithic empire! I've picked up a few things here and there and managed to bring down at least two of them so far, with no intention to quit anytime soon, and now I'm here to share those mad skills with you all! Let's GOOOOOOOO.

TUES: Period 3: Stark: Living with Trauma

TUES: Period 4: Atreides: Mad Kings & Queens: Raving Royals and How To Survive Them

Many of us have been inspired at some point by great men and women in history. The past, however, was also shaped by the insane, the irrational, and the degenerate -- people with absolute power and few inhibitions.

From the whimsical to the deranged, we will explore the catalogue of chaos and depravity left in their wake, and look at various ways they were removed from power.

As always, this course is not recommended for the faint-of-heart.

WEDNESDAY

WED: Period 1: Gooseman: Intro to Mechanical Engineering

In this class students will be looking at a more in depth overview on the principles of mechanical engineering and how that applies to the making and repair of machinery.

WED: Period 2: Blackstone & Diaz: Weaponry

Weapons! You love 'em, you use 'em, you'd like to learn more about them! Then, boy, do we have the class for you! In this intensive course, you'll have an expert at making 'em and an expert at using 'em there to teach you the ins and out of any and all weapons! Big weapons, small weapons, ranged weapons, explosive weapons! You name it, we've got it, in an informative and fun exploration of things that hit, smash, cleave, shoot, and everything in between! Whether you love learning things or simply love hitting stuff, this class'll get the job done!

WED: Period 3: Sidon: Great Legends of Hyrule

Come with me, Sidon! The Zora Prince! On a fantastical journey through the Great Legends of Hyrule! From mysterious dragons to powerful goddesses to Swords the Seal the Darkness, the magnificent land that I call my home is filled to the brim with spectacular stories of heroics and intrigue, of magic and mystery! Join me on this epic journey of storytelling and learning as we explore these wonderous tales...and hopefully share a few more of your own, as well! There is never a dull moment to be had with the most traveled Zora in all of Zora history is involved! You simply will not want to miss a single exciting tale!

WED: Period 4: Rogers & Stark: Bakeineering

Have you taken a bunch of baking classes and are looking to expand on your knowledge? Have you taken zero baking classes but are confident in your skills as a builder? Are you just stuck in this class because the moose has a weird sense of humor? However you ended up here, look forward to learning how to make cookie chandeliers, three-dimensional gingerbread skyscrapers, and edible robots that can go through obstacle courses!

Do your teachers know how to do these things? Eh, they'll figure it out.

THURSDAY

THU: Period 1: Argentum: Photography

They say a picture's worth a thousand words, right? But not all pictures are created equal! In the class, students will not only learn about the art of photography, from taking pictures to equipment, to finer points like framing, lighting, and perspective, but we'll also learn about photography as an art, its history, its impact and importance, as well as a variety of careers that might use photography.

If nothing else, it'll be a great way to really get those selfies to POP!

THU: Period 2: Amicitia: Wilderness Survival

There's more to surviving the great outdoors than camping, though that's definitely not a bad place to start! This course will explore various aspects of the rugged wilderness survival and enjoyment. No glamping allowed!

THU: Period 3: Cara & Jaskier: ALL PUNCH

At its heart, all fighting can be abstracted down to punching. Join us and learn to punch with not only your fists, but also your feet, your head, your weapons, and most importantly, your heart.

FRIDAY

FRI: Period 1: Hendrickson & Amicitia: PE Health Class

Get that PE class requirement out of the way and have fun while doing it. Learn the basics of health and wellness while participating in a range of sports, events, and challenges ranging from skiing to swimming to running obstacle courses. Yes, there may be dodgeball but also so much more! Whether you consider yourself a beginner or a pro, this is the PE class you want to end up with-trust us!

FRI: Period 2: Scientia: Home Economics

Home economics is a course that will focus on gaining an understanding and appreciation for daily issues and improving aspects of life that impact individuals, families and communities, such as relationships, shelter, clothing, finances, and nutrition. In cultivating an intimate knowledge of basic skills to enhance ones experiences to a more organized and mindful way of life, one may find new possibilities open to them to appreciate the small things and get the most out of the larger ones, with concerns to development, personal and family finance, housing and interior design, food science and preparation, nutrition and wellness, textiles and apparel, and consumer issues.

COMMUNITY CENTER CLASSES

These classes are offered for all characters--townies, teachers, and students--to take. Because it's more casual, it's not essential to sign up for it here to attend, but it's nice to give the players an idea of participation levels.

MONDAY: Lecter: Coping Through Cuisine at Any Age

Fandom being what it is, learning good coping mechanisms can be important. Many people cope through food: preparing it, cooking it, and eating it. This class will take students of every age through the ways that food can help us cope positively. Come hungry!
