BDE: Fan Applications
Hello, all! You might have read the earlier BDE post and thought "I have ideas on how to be a fan!" Well, this is the post for you!
What we need are people who will be around and available to play from Wednesday, April 27th through Sunday, April 30th. Playing a fan means you have to create the journal, find a PB, and get your kid out there. These can be totally original characters, or you can base them off of something (ie, "that girl on Tumblr that hasn't stopped talking about Tom Hiddleston for a year straight", "the serial fic starter with 106 WIPs on AO3"; "the 'but actually' Redditor"; "the 'it's about ethics in gaming!!11!' Twitter troll; "the 'I've just showed up on the internet and all of these arguments are new to meeeee' Discord kid"; "the casual fan who thought they'd come to this convention to make friends but omg yikes"; "the Big Name Fan whose veeeeeeeeeeery specific kink warped how everyone watched this show for three seasons"; "the annual flouncer now on their fifth email name"; "the viral TikToker"; or our favorite, "the Fandom Old who is just. so. tired. of the discourse.") Just remember that these should not be canon characters.

Basic description of character: That fan who thinks this season is problematic because it prominently features an entity that is blatantly, painfully obviously supposed to be the big bad. Come get your bad faith discourse! Here for your spicy hot takes and complete interest in/ability to grasp nuance.
Any additional fannish interests?: Performative outrage.
What ideas do you have for this character in this plot?: Basically I just figure that (aside from my own nefarious purposes) I'd offer her up for anyone who wants to be accosted by someone telling them that they're Problematic, and possibly retconning out any Problematic-ness in their backstories, or just sending them out of town on a bus or into an emocoma because they're cancelled.

Character name: Kara, aka KewlMom4lyfe. She thinks ironic misspelling makes her cool. Nope.
Character age: Ollllld. Too old for Tumblr. DEFINITELY too old for TikTok.
Basic description of character: Melissa McCarthy adjacent frazzled mother of four, she is coming to the convention because OMG TIME OFF FROM HER KIDS, YES PLEASE. (She was here in 2013 and her Eric crush has not abated ONE IOTA. And she still thinks Anakin is bald and wearing a wig.) She's been involved in the FH fandom since the very beginning and believes that Han/Bagaos was the apex of shipping and that Shane/Tara got a bad rap. (She has really terrible taste, okay.) She's the one who remembers and catalogs all the older characters and longs for the Good Old Days before Marvel took everything over. Power Rangers 4LIFE!!111, yo. She's mixed it up in the Fandom forums and has angry flounced after every spring BDE for almost twenty years and is addicted to hurt/comfort scenarios of all types. And coffee shop AUs. She loves coffee shop AUs.
Any additional fannish interests?: She's old school, yo, and hasn't really watched a new, non-cartoon TV show or movie since 2003 and as such is constantly confused by the new characters and gets them mixed up.
She's also big into the mommy blogs and bores the absolute shit out of the other fans with stories about her kids.
What ideas do you have for this character in this plot?: If you need someone to bring people back from the past or send current characters on a bus to nowhere, KewlMom is your girl. She also has REALLY TERRIBLE taste in plotting, so if you need your characters to do something really OOC, she'd be happy to fix that for you.

Basic description of character: A serious and unapologetic whumper. Does it make medical sense? Whatever, of course not. Is her smut safe or sane? Hey, she's not pretending to be a role model here. Are those shibari positions even physically possible? Pffft, you're destroying her ART, okay? Anyway, the bondage is a METAPHOR. These are (usually) consenting (supposedly) fictional (mostly) adults! Antis DNI, please. It's not like the cannibalism kink fic wasn't properly tagged, okay?
Any additional fannish interests?: She's been writing fic off and on for almost ten years so she thinks she's a Fandom Old and likes to pretend she knows all about fannish history, but she's only vaguely aware that LiveJournal was a thing.
What ideas do you have for this character in this plot?: Does anyone want to get tied up/knocked out/sidelined in a trunk/comatose, or otherwise incapacitated? She's your gal. She might just turn Luke's into a literal, not at all appropriately run kink dungeon.

Basic description of character: Known in is *ahem* small group of friends as Photo Bomb Phil, he is never without his camera and extra memory cards. And he likes taking photos. A lot of them. Of EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. So prepare for lots of paparazzi style flashing and photos going off anytime Phil sees one of his faves walking down the street or runs into you trying to enjoy a quiet cup of tea at The Perk or get some shopping done at a local shop. Just smile, pose, and MAYBE you will get back to whatever you were doing with minimal light spots lingering in your vision for the rest of the day.
Any additional fannish interests?: Obsessive over his favorite island personalities, loves getting selfies with people, and considers himself a bit of an influencer. Will totally post these pics online to all of his social media platforms!
What ideas do you have for this character in this plot?: Down for any photo bombs, innocent (sort of) stalking, constant nagging for photos and selfies, and general obsessive fanning over the island residents. Open for anything so make use of him while he's here!

Basic description of character: Megan is an OG. The OG, if you listen to her. She was here last time, where she heard about someone else's Sterek fic idea, wrote it herself and denied any similarities, then took it off the internet so she could turn it into a bestselling novel. She has turned it into a lucrative career as an ~author~ and no, she legally can't hear your pitches, also she hates the idea of losing her BNF status to go legit, so this is all about proving she's still with it.
Also no one better bring up the time she begged her fans to buy her a new laptop.
Any additional fannish interests?: She is totally into your epic ship if you have one and she always has been, okay, even though she's been really busy on the NYT bestseller list. For real. Your drama is nothing compared to the time she...
What ideas do you have for this character in this plot?: She knows pathos! She knows drama! She definitely thinks your love life needs more excitement and that you need leather pants! If you want random dramatic additions or maybe to randomly become a Chosen One, Megan is your girl.

She only like, just got into FH, but she binged it all in the space of a month and she’s in the middle of one huge WHOPPER of an AU fanfic. Coffee shop AU? No, that’s SO last decade. All of her favorite characters past and present are working in an Amazon warehouse and they find love and happiness off-hours while suffering through the horrors of capitalism during work!!
Any additional fannish interests?: Smut should be two ADULTS who really love each other having missionary sex in the dark, omg. Also, she has come up with SO MANY AU kid ideas, guys.
What ideas do you have for this character in this plot?: Want your characters smushed together like Barbie dolls for their happily ever afters? Or do they need to suffer a TERRIBLE, SCARRING ACCIDENT or ATTACK and a subsequent all-fixing hug-snuggle? Emily doesn’t care that your characters never met!! She’s ALL ABOUT the crossovers!! Including with herself!! Captain America/Reader anyone?

What ideas do you have for this character in this plot?: Basically anyone who wants some handcrafted ridiculousness solemnly presented to their character with the expectation that they will love and adore it.
