SECOND SESSION WORKSHOP SIGN-UPS

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone! It's time to sign up for your Second Session Summer 2022 Workshops! These sign-ups are for both NEW and RETURNING students, and also for teachers and townies, if they are so inclined! Yay! Please read the following before you start signing up:

1) Teacher and Student Class Expectations! The all important guideline for what is expected of the players in Fandom High. Please give it a once-over even if you've seen it in some form or other before - consider it a good thing to click and read while I put up the OCD!

2) Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - given name, then family name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

3) PC classes are those taught by an actual character, the things you're signing up for here, as opposed to the NPC classes, which are taught by woodchucks discussed in their own thread towards the end of this post.

The Important Stuff About Signing Up For Classes

1) Since we've removed the cap on characters, we have also removed the cap on the number of classes your characters can sign up for, but please consider your RL ability to keep up before chucking a character at every class we're offering.

2) If you're a TA for a class, you need to sign up for that class. It will count towards your minimum 2. (Not you, recent grads.) Please note TA-ship in the sign-up for easy of making the class lists accurate. Teachers: please refrain from having your own character act as the TA as it defeats the purpose of having a back-up player to post for you!

3) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap.

4) If you sign up, please, please try to show up. It lets the mods judge if you're still in the game and it makes the work the teachers are putting into coming up with something fun to interact with so worth it.

5) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.

6) To be fair to people in all time-zones, sign-ups are not first-come, first-serve.

And now we get to what you really want to see: Summer Workshops! (Session 2)!!!!

FH class sign-ups will close at 11:59pm Eastern on Sunday, July 3rd, 2022, and are IG knowledge through the weekend. (But I am going away for the week, so the admin-y spreadsheet will go up Wednesday-ish.)

General FYI: Feel free to make changes to your class choices as long as you do it before the deadline. We use the final pings in each thread to make the class lists, not the email notifs. But some things that seem simple at first glance actually have far more complexity and nuance to it than you might first imagine ♥! Take this course and join me on a journey through the world of poetry, specifically the simple and understated Art of the Haiku and explore the inner poet within ♥.

MON: Period 3: Sims: British History

MON: Period 4: Rogers & Stark: 2Paint2Ball

More paintball, but this time the scenarios get more challenging. Smaller targets, variable gravities, teamwork optional, etc. Because we've met you people.

MON: Period 5: Yennefer: Coping With the Non-Modern World

Perhaps the world you came from is not quite as...developed as the one you have found upon this island. Perhaps the idea of returning to a world without modern plumbing, air conditioning, or basic human rights fills you with existential dread, and yet you would like to see your loved ones again or some nonsense like that. Perhaps you simply meant to pop over for a quick research visit and Portalocity stopped returning your calls for actual years, only to find that not quite two months have passed for everyone else upon your return, and you would like to prepare yourself in case that ever happens again. Here's where we'll discuss how.

TUESDAY

TUES: Period 1: Beaker: Extremely Unsafe Science With Beaker

Under the heavy suggestion of the school board, this session Beaker will have guest stars to help with the sciencing! It was be less safe but heavily supervised!*


*Beaker will not actually be supervised. His guests are in no way qualified or inclined to be restraining him. As usual, the school retains no liability for loss or growth of limbs, more or less hair than you began class with, transdimensional portals opening at any stage, or spontaneous combustion.

TUE: Period 2: Solo: Flight & Flying 2

A continuation of the previous class, but it's not a prerequisite: In this class you'll try your hand at different methods of flight, from this world and others. This is open to experts as well as beginners- there should be something new for everyone.

TUE: Period 3: Lecter: Cuisines of Earth

We will visit a different country every week and learn a bit about the history of their cuisine while we eat their food. Come hungry!

TUE: Period 4: Sidon: Summertime Arts & Crafts!

Go beyond the Aquatic Arts and embrace all the summertime has to offer to inspire and spark your creativity in this class where we explore a wide variety of crafts and projects inspired by this most incredible of seasons! Every week shall bring new challenges and new projects to truly engage the artist and crafter inside!

THUR: Period 1: Cara & Jaskier: How to Form a Band

Have you ever wanted to share your musical talents with the world, but had no one to work with you on it? Fear not, we shall teach you exactly how to go about the process. From the importance of a theme to costuming, everything will be covered.

THUR: Period 2: Blackstone: Blacksmith Basics: Armor Edition

A lot of blacksmithing tends to focus on the wide variety of weapons that can be made at a forge, which means it's high time a little extra attention was paid to the thing that protects a person from said weapons: ARMOR! It takes a whole lot more than a seven-week summer workshop to master the art of a good set of armor...it definitely takes longer than a seven-week summer workshop to make a set of armor...but you can at least learn how some of it's done and come out with at least a small piece of it for yourself. Even if you don't come out of it with a serviceable helm or glaive or shin guard, though, you'll still get to work with fire and hitting things with hammers, so it'll be a win, either way!

THUR: Period 3: Diaz: Fandom Gladiators

Compete for for Fandom greatness in a totally high-stakes '90s competition show rip-off because it's fun, you get to have cool nicknames, and wear spandex. Terrible hair not required, but strongly recommended.

THUR: Period 4: Gooseman: A Guide to Mechanical Engineering

This class will continue to expand upon and look at more detailed mechanical engineering projects each week.

FRIDAY

FRI: Period 1: Smith: ACTUAL Ancient Food Crimes

You guys asked for it! Due to the express interest in going way, way, way further back than any of my previous food classes have gone before, we're taking our judicial mind back to the actual food crimes of the past.

FRI: Period 2: Stark: Cupcakes

FRI: Period 3: Yennefer & Jaskier: Relationship Skills

Some people really shouldn't be in relationships. They're simply not capable of respecting other people, or those people's metaphysical autonomy. Hopefully, you are not one of those people, but at any rate you can learn how to be better, and why Geralt of Rivia is the absolute worst, here.
