FALL 2022 CLASS SIGN UPS

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone! It's time to sign up for your Fall 2022 Classes! These sign-ups are for all students, and the Community Center classes are for all characters!

Please read the following before you start signing up:

1) Teacher and Student Class Expectations! The all important guideline for what is expected of the players in Fandom High. Please give it a once-over even if you've seen it in some form or other before - consider it a good thing to click and read while I put up the OCD!

2) Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - given name, then family name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

3) PC classes are those taught by a teacher character, the things you're signing up for here, as opposed to the NPC classes, which you may handwave taking so that your student hasn't taken three classes for their entire high school experience.

The Important Stuff About Signing Up For Classes

1) Each student character MUST sign up for at least 2 PC classes. Since we've removed the cap on characters, we have also removed the cap on the number of classes your characters can sign up for, but please consider your RL ability to keep up before chucking a character at every class we're offering.

2) If you're a TA for a class, you still need to sign up for that class. It will count towards your minimum 2. Please note TA-ship in the sign-up for easy of making the class lists accurate. Teachers: please refrain from having your own character act as the TA as it defeats the purpose of having a back-up player to post for you!

3) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap.

4) If you sign up, you need to show up. Class attendance is how we keep track of your character's activity. If you repeatedly fail to at least sign in to your classes, we'll have to contact you about it, and you could be asked to leave the game.

5) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.

FH class sign-ups will close at 11:59pm Eastern on Friday, August 26th and are considered IG knowledge for your small-talking at the welcome picnic convenience.

General FYI: Feel free to make changes to your class choices as long as you do it before the deadline. We use the final pings in each thread to make the class lists, not the email notifs. MON: Period 1: Smith & Stark: Intro to Fandom

Welcome to Fandom Island! If you haven't figured it out after the Welcome Picnic (or even after a semester or two, really), it's really weird! It doesn't come with a handbook, and almost all the brochures are wrong. But this class is here to help you navigate through all the weirdness and quirks and trauma as it happens, from two very seasoned veterans of All Things F'ed Up.

MON: Period 2: Aphra & Isabela: Non-Deadly Heroics

Saving the world is great, we live in after all, but have you perhaps considered that self-sacrifice while very noble and worthy of song should maybe not be considered as your first and only option? If not, then is this the class for you.

MON: Period 3: Solo-Fel: Fight Stuff!

Have you lived through an invasion? Do you want to prepare for one? Or maybe just want to brush up on your skills? In this class you'll learn some techniques, and then get to fight in different Danger Shop scenarios from week to week. Powers and weapons welcome most weeks.

Because sometimes you can't just shoot a problem. Learn the art of subtle finesse, the Anakin Skywalker way.

TUESDAY

TUES: Period 1: Sims: Libraries and Books: Highlights and Dangers

Libraries can be wonderous places, and books can be marvels. But both can also prove to be dangerous, whether it's getting lost or getting eaten. Come visit some libraries, learn how they're organized, experience different sorts of books, and learn some of the danger signs of them.

TUES: Per. 2: Diaz: It's Actually Not That Complicated: Life Lessons from the Films of Nancy Meyers

A deep exploration of the themes, lessons, and interior designs of one of the most celebrated and entertaining writer/directors of our time, and how to apply them to enrich your own life.

TUES: Period 3: Rogers & Stark: History of American Inventions

Knight! Ford! Whitney! Stark! American inventors and their inventions have changed the world, for better and worse, for hundreds of years. This class will combine US history and some hands-on work with the inventions in question as we bounce around in time and try to imagine a world without cars, lightbulbs, or safety devices on massive industrial equipment.

TUES: Period 4: Raven: Dealing With Your Dark Side

Many of us in Fandom struggle with a darker side of their nature due to circumstances of their birth, unwise bargains, questionable ways of learning, heritage, or a myriad of other reasons. This class seeks to help you better manage dealing with unwanted thoughts and impulses through a variety of techniques.

WED: Period 1: Gooseman: Mechanics of Engineering

This course will provide an in depth overview into the theory and practical applications of engineering mechanics

WED: Period 2: Foster: Beginner's Guide to Heroism

A learn as you go guide to becoming a superhero for the average person. Super powers are definitely a plus, but changing the world with your skills also apply here! Join us as we work it out together.

WED: Period 3: Blackstone: Shop Class

It's fall, so that means it's time for SHOP CLASS! Time to learn all about how to build stuff and create interesting things, learning useful techniques and about things like metalworking and electricity and machines both elaborate and simple, and a whole lot of other things in between.

WED: Period 4: Lecter: Getting to Know Earth

Whether you're from Earth or somewhere else, chances are you haven't explored much of it. This class is here to give you that option. Come visit all areas of the planet and learn things about it. (And probably eat, to be honest.)

THURSDAY

THUR: Period 1: Cutter: Intro to Paleontology

In this course students will be learning about the history of the ancient past through the study of fossils and how life evolved on Earth . Students will also be learning about key extinction events and how this has helped shape the planet as we know today,. There will be a chance to get practical experience as well.

THUR: Period 2: Cara & Jaskier: Sexy Crimes

The most important and overlooked element of any criminal endeavour is STYLE. STYLE and SEX APPEAL. So come and learn how to be sexy doing sexy crimes. BE HOT. DO CRIMES.

THUR: Period 3: Kyōraku: The Art of Peace

War. Hmm. What is it good for? Some great sages might suggest absolutely nothing, but, whether they are right or wrong, a battle may some times seem inevitable ♥. But perhaps, even in times of war, one may find a path of peaceful resistance. In this course, we will study the fine and often misunderstood Art of Peace, and discuss a pacifist's approach to war...and other daily squabbles ♥.

FRIDAY

FRI: Period 1: Beniko: Topics in Sith Philosophy

Learn the Sith code (if you didn't last semester) and apply it to theoretical cases in an effort to determine where and why it works and where and why it fails. Field trips may be involved; let the instructor know if you get spacesick.

FRI: Period 2: Sidon: Hyrule History and Legends!

Come and explore the thrilling and exciting, rich history of a land far, far from this one, the land of Hyrule! A land of adventure! A land of tragedy! A land of hope! The land that I, Sidon, the Zora Prince and your intrepid guide to this marvelous world, call home! There is never a dull moment to be had in Hyrule, so take a journey with me, through history and legends, and perhaps share some of your own and learn new things that will inspire and move you, even in this world now!

COMMUNITY CENTER CLASSES

These classes are offered for all characters--townies, teachers, and students--to take. Because it's more casual, it's not essential to sign up for it here to attend, but it's nice to give the players an idea of participation levels.

TUES (PM): Smith & Stark: Chopped: Fandom

Do you have what it takes to rise to the challenge and create food that's technically edible from an assortment of random (and hopefully not terrifying) ingredients each week? Join an ACTUAL CHOPPED CHAMPION and Stark in this competition cooking class that challenges you to think outside the box and put your culinary creativity to the test!

Or test the instructors' tolerance. Or just for sweet revenge against one of them, anyway.
