Ugh. Hashtag It's complicated. Like, obviously, I love my parents, I really do, but as I grow older, the fact that they are very flawed people with some major issues that have lead to significant emotional trauma for me is increasingly evident. Like, my mom (both of them) is an amazing smart woman who makes incredibly stupid choices, she's a badass and her approval means pretty much everything to me, but she's also a selfish alcoholic with absolutely no natural maternal instinct no matter how hard she tries. And my dad...oh, god, my dad means well, and that's sometimes half the problem, because he's kind of a bumbling idiot who just kind of lucked into knocking my mom up. He's incredibly weak at the worst times, and only seems to grow a pair of balls when it's the dumbest thing he could possibly do. But I'd fight like hell for them, even if I think they're absolute idiots.

Though, to be fair, I haven't really been the best daughter to them, either. Like, I have tried to kill them more than a few times, but, in my defense, I was in a cult one of those times...
