SUMMER 2023 (SESSION 1) WORKSHOP SIGN-UPS

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone! It's time to sign up for your First Session Summer 2023 Workshops! These sign-ups are for both NEW and RETURNING students, and in our new tradition for the summer, the workshops are open to EVERYONE: students, teachers, and townies. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. Please read the following before you start signing up:

1) Teacher and Student Class Expectations! The all important guideline for what is expected of the players in Fandom High. Please give it a once-over even if you've seen it in some form or other before - consider it a good thing to click and read while I put up the OCD!

2) Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - given name, then family name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

The Important Stuff About Signing Up For Classes

1) Since we've removed the cap on characters, we have also removed the cap on the number of classes your characters can sign up for, but please consider your RL ability to keep up before chucking a character at every class we're offering.

2) If you're a TA for a class, you need to sign up for that class. It will count towards your minimum 2. (Not you, recent grads.) Please note TA-ship in the sign-up for easy of making the class lists accurate. Teachers: please refrain from having your own character act as the TA as it defeats the purpose of having a back-up player to post for you!

3) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap.

4) If you sign up, please, please try to show up. It lets the mods judge if you're still in the game and it makes the work the teachers are putting into coming up with something fun to interact with so worth it.

5) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.

6) To be fair to people in all time-zones, sign-ups are not first-come, first-serve.

FH class sign-ups will close at 11:59pm Eastern on Friday, May 5th, 2023, and are IG knowledge at the Welcome Picnic.

General FYI: Feel free to make changes to your class choices as long as you do it before the deadline. We use the final pings in each thread to make the class lists, not the email notifs. MON: Period 2: Blackstone: Blacksmithing Basics

Blacksmithing is an art that takes years to master properly, but if you'd just like to learn some of the basics, find out more about the process, or find a great new workout for your arms, have we got the workshop for you! This seven-week intensive will introduce you to the tools, concepts, and practices of working metal and making metal work for you! Each week will be a different lesson contributing to a project so that a head full of knowledge isn't the only thing you'll take home with you!

MON: Period 3: Sidon: Underwater Basket Weaving & Other Aquatic Arts

Water you waiting for? It's time to dive right into summer with the exciting and thrilling return of Underwater Basket Weaving (and Other Aquatic Arts)! There will be arts! There will be crafts! There will be games and sports, and all sorts of activities in the water, just in time for summer! So come on and sign up! It's sure to be a splash!

MON: Period 4: Beniko: Galactic Field Trips

Learn about a different dinosaur every week, from the well known to the lesser known this workshop will cover an in-depth look at a variety of different dinosaurs.

TUE: Period 2: Shunsui: The Art of Bashō

Come and explore the writings and art of one of the most celebrated poets in all of Japan, Matsuo Bashō ♥. Each week, we'll look at a selection of poem, discuss their meaning and inspiration, and maybe work on a little poetry of our own ♥.

TUE: Period 3: Argentum: Fandom Photography Scavenger Hunt

Fandom Photography Scavenger Hunt? What's that, you may ask? WELL, it's a great way to combine the fun of photography with all the exciting things around this island into one super cool workshop for the summer! Each week, there will be a list of things to find around the island to snap a picture of and report back and share your finding with the class the following week! Who can find the most puppies around the island? How about business signs with the letter R? Which spots have the best views of a sunset? Let's find out, and, most importantly, take some great pictures along the way!

TUE: Period 4: Aphra & Isabela: Loot, Loot, Loot

They say that the real treasure is the friends you make along the way. Those people are lying. The real treasure is the treasure you find along the way, whether that's valuables, knowledge, cultural artefacts, or an elaborate fake you later pass off as the real thing. And we're here to teach you all about the treasures along the way. You might even find a friend or two.

THU: Period 3: Scientia: Camp Cooking Essentials

A full kitchen is hardly a necessity for creating delicious meals with relative ease. In fact, perhaps all one might need is a campfire, a few useful tools, and a handful of recipes to get them through in even the roughest of conditions. This class will explore various methods and varieties of meal preparation for the great outdoors...just in time for summer.

FRI: Period 1: Smith & Stark: 20th Century Food Crimes

It's that time again, everyone! It's time to crack open those old dusty Betty Crocker cookbooks and scrounge up some of the most vile, disgusting, bewildering, headscratch-inducing recipes of the last century, where we try to figure out the whats, wheres, hows, and, most importantly, WHYS of things people used to actually put in their mouths. And maybe to put in your own mouth, too, if you're brave enough.

FRI: Period 2: Sims: The Other Kind of Tea

A chance to drink tea (or coffee) and spill gossip about celebrities, royals, and other public figures.

FRI: Period 3: Amicita: Let's Go Camping!

It's summertime! Let's go camping! This workshop will ensure that you're well equipped with all the essentials for a successful venture out into the wilderness, from knowing the best spots to getting the best gear, great campside activities, and maybe a little adventure and survival thrown in there, too. And, yeah, there will definitely be s'mores, too.

FRI: Rand: Flight & Flying

It's a class about learning how to fly and land planes and starships without 'rapid unscheduled disassembly'. If you need more of an explanation, you're as stupid as that guy is.
