SUMMER 2023 (SESSION 2) WORKSHOP SIGN-UPS

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone! It's time to sign up for your First Session Summer 2023 Workshops! These sign-ups are for both NEW and RETURNING students, and in our new tradition for the summer, the workshops are open to EVERYONE: students, teachers, and townies. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. Please read the following before you start signing up:

1) Teacher and Student Class Expectations! The all important guideline for what is expected of the players in Fandom High. Please give it a once-over even if you've seen it in some form or other before - consider it a good thing to click and read while I put up the OCD!

2) Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - given name, then family name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

The Important Stuff About Signing Up For Classes

1) Since we've removed the cap on characters, we have also removed the cap on the number of classes your characters can sign up for, but please consider your RL ability to keep up before chucking a character at every class we're offering.

2) If you're a TA for a class, you need to sign up for that class. It will count towards your minimum 2. (Not you, recent grads.) Please note TA-ship in the sign-up for easy of making the class lists accurate. Teachers: please refrain from having your own character act as the TA as it defeats the purpose of having a back-up player to post for you!

3) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap.

4) If you sign up, please, please try to show up. It lets the mods judge if you're still in the game and it makes the work the teachers are putting into coming up with something fun to interact with so worth it.

5) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.

6) To be fair to people in all time-zones, sign-ups are not first-come, first-serve.

FH class sign-ups will close at 11:59pm Eastern on Friday, June 30th, 2023, and are IG knowledge.

General FYI: Feel free to make changes to your class choices as long as you do it before the deadline. We use the final pings in each thread to make the class lists, not the email notifs. It's time to go beyond the basics of blacksmithing and explore some of the more intermediate or intricate skills that make the fine tuning of metal and metal working so interesting, fun, and challenging! Go beyond just hammering and tapering, tempering and quenching with a look at a new blacksmith technique every week that'll have all your friends impressed and your arm muscles sore!

MON: Period 3: Sidon: The Care & Appreciation of Animals

This session, come down to Furnado Animal Shelter and experience the joy and excitement of caring and appreciating animals! We have a wide variety of adorable critters, majestic creatures, and delightful animals just waiting to be cared for an appreciated! You'll get experience with so many of them, and walk away feel better knowing you've helped make a shelter pet's day much better! We'll also learn about the animals and where they come from, get in plenty of play time, and overall just have a fun, educational, and fulfilling experience! Huzzah! Come on! Let's go learn about animals firsthand!

MON: Period 4: Beniko: Learning Alien Cultures

More trips to Lana's galaxy, but this time all to Odessen - instead of exploring other planets, we'll be exploring other cultures. You'll meet a different nonhuman being each time, and have them teach you about their culture, and then answer any questions you might have.

TUES: Period 1: Cutter & Temple: Introduction to Dinosaurs II

Continue to learn about different dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures from a range of different time periods of Earth’s past.

TUES: Period 2: Shunsui: The Art of Laziness

In a hectic world where there are always things that need to be done and there are always goals to achieve and topple and momentum forward, laziness can be seen as a bad word. But in this class, we will explore that being lazy is actually an often neglected virtue ♥. Learn how to embrace your laziness and discover that it really can be best to just take it easy, smell the roses, and go ahead and have that nap or get to that thing later ♥.

TUES: Period 3: Aphra & Isabela: Buckle Those Swashes

Do you long for adventure? Does the open sea (or deep space) call your name? Do you want to be a pirate? Yes, of course you do, and luckily you have a real live pirate captain (and one rogue archeologist) here to show you the way!

THUR: Period 2: Diaz: More Yoga

It's more yoga. It's the coolest class all summer. We might focus on chakra or something this time, I don't know. Take it and find out. Or don't. Actually, yeah, just don't. That's cool, too.

THUR: Period 3: Argentum, Scientia & Amicita: Team-Building for Fun and Profit!

Hey, you know what? Team-building is important, and not only that, but team-building is fun, and it enriches your lives in unexpected ways! Sometimes even life-saving ways! And so three dude that have been working together far longer than any of them would really like to admit are going to lead you and your new team in this class through some great team-building exercises to teach comaradie, teamwork, trust and synergy to make you a better team player and hopefully even make some new friends and connections, perhaps even some unbreakable bonds and lifelong companions!

FRI: Period 1: Smith & Stark: 20th Century Food Crimes, Continued

Seven weeks is not nearly enough time to properly torture...er, I mean, EDUCATE...anyone on the boundy of weird, fascinating, and potentially criminal acts of culinary endevors that the 20th century had to offer, so buckle in as we dive even deeper into the rabbit hole of horrible recipes and try to figure out WTF was going on in their heads back then...and maybe, just maybe, come around to even appreciating some of it.

It's the return of movie night - a chance for everyone not from Earth, or from an earlier or later version to catch up on pop culture references.

FRI: Period 3: Rand: Getting Out of Scrapes - Fast

Do you have superpowers? Do you not have superpowers? It doesn't really matter, you're probably going to wind up in trouble with the authorities and/or Hutts at some point in your life. Each week, we put you in a scenario, see how well you do, and then talk through how to handle it next time. Easy peasy.
