SUMMER 2024 (SESSION 2) WORKSHOP SIGN-UPS

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone! It's time to sign up for your Second Session Summer 2024 Workshops! These sign-ups are open to EVERYONE: students, teachers, and townies. Please read the following before you start signing up:

1) Teacher and Student Class Expectations! The all important guideline for what is expected of the players in Fandom High. Please give it a once-over even if you've seen it in some form or other before - consider it a good thing to click and read while I put up the OCD!

2) Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - given name, then family name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

The Important Stuff About Signing Up For Classes

1) Since we've removed the cap on characters, we have also removed the cap on the number of classes your characters can sign up for, but please consider your RL ability to keep up before chucking a character at every class we're offering.

2) If you're a TA for a class, you need to sign up for that class. It will count towards your minimum 2. (Not you, recent grads.) Please note TA-ship in the sign-up for easy of making the class lists accurate. Teachers: please refrain from having your own character act as the TA as it defeats the purpose of having a back-up player to post for you!

3) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap.

4) If you sign up, please, please try to show up. It lets the mods judge if you're still in the game and it makes the work the teachers are putting into coming up with something fun to interact with so worth it.

5) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.

6) To be fair to people in all time-zones, sign-ups are not first-come, first-serve.

FH class sign-ups will close at 11:59pm Eastern on Saturday, July 6, 2024, and are IG knowledge.

General FYI: Feel free to make changes to your class choices as long as you do it before the deadline. We use the final pings in each thread to make the class lists, not the email notifs. MON: Period 2: Argentum: Pet Photography

Hey, do you like adorable animals? Do you like taking pictures? What about pictures of adorable animals? Well, then, do I have the summer workshop for you! Come learn all about photography and all about pets in this amazing opportunity to put two awesome things together in a fun, informative, and most of all, cute as heck! class!

MON: Period 3: Tanizaki: Fandom Grand Prix

If you took my last class, you already know that Video Games are GREAT! But out of all those great video games, the greatest is probably the RACING GAME! So we're going to focus on that, with an exciting new course and concept each week! Come race against your classmates AND your instructor, in a virtual reality setting where there are no speed limits, no cops, and no consequences!

MON: Period 4: Sims: Daily Modern Life

Are you from the past? The future? Another planet? Earth but were sheltered? Learn how to do laundry, use a microwave and stove, work a mobile phone, and more basic skills for living.

MON: Period 5: Blake: First Aid: Extreme Edition

Apparently 'my buddy just cut his own hand off with his laser sword' is a plausible scenario around here, so learn what to do when that happens in this workshop, along with other scenarios that become way more common when your friends have powers or whatnot.

TUESDAY

TUES: Period 1: Anakin Skywalker & Tano: Self Defense for Shinies 2: Mind Games

Training your body is only half the battle, you must also train your mind. Learn Jedi meditation techniques and also lightsabers because Anakin gets bored meditating.

TUES: Period 2: Raiden: The Wonderful World of Pizza

Let's spend seven weeks traveling the world and learning how pizza is different in different places! What could be better?

TUES: Period 3: Smith: Nightmare Party Planning from the Mid-Century

Hey, you wanna come regret everything and party like it's 1959? Then this class is for you! As an unexpected expert in the weird things that people thought were cool in the mid-20th century, we're going to troll through all sorts of recipes and party ideas from the not-so-distant past and work on creating a truly nightmare party that your friends will talk about (for better or for worse) maybe even well into the next century! It'll be fun! And there's definitely going to be Jello.

TUES: Period 4: Andrew Skywalker: Understanding the Other

Can we ever truly understand another? What is necessary for genuine empathy? And what is the Other, anyway? Philosophers, sociologists and historians alike have argued about these questions for centuries. In a series of seven classes, and through the loop of both our own experiences and those of long-dead thinkers, we'll examine what it takes to understand viewpoints far outside ourselves.

TUES: Period 5: Beniko: More Earth Tourism

Whether you're from Earth and haven't seen much of it, or you're from somewhere else and have seen even less, here's your opportunity to see more of it! We'll travel around and play tourist in a different place each week.

TUES: Period 6: Senshi: Grow Your Own Garden

Not only is it good to be as self-sufficient as possible, but food tastes better the closer to home it comes from. When it comes to produce, you can't get much better eating than something you grew yourself with your own two hands. Taking some space in the community garden, we'll grow a few varieties of local, fast-growing crops so you can have yourself a nice bushel or two of vegetables by the time class is over.

THUR: Period 1: Ingram: Plants

Learn to better appreciate plants both in Fandom and beyond. Then plant some of your own to bring home and brighten up your living space.

THUR: Period 2: Vess: Treat Yourself

Some of you never learned to relax and pamper yourself and it shows. Rather than argue about the concept, I'm making it available for course credit, so even the most stubborn of you - not that I'm naming names, but you know who you are and so do I - now have a reason to experience it beyond the apparently déclassé desire to lightly indulge yourself. While this class is focused on those new to the art, those who would enjoy an hour a week spa-centric self-care are more than welcome.
Professor's Note: Because this is a class, clothing is required. At the very least, the standards of public decency must be met, though all levels of modesty are respected.

(This class is for characters over the legal drinking age in their dimensions only.)

From the very first sip to the very last bite, the experience of pairing a good wine with good cuisine is a fine art not to be missed. And where better to enjoy these things than the very source from which they came? This class will take globetrotting to the level of fine dining and fine wine-ing as we visit a variety of renowned wine-producing areas of this world, discuss what makes them unique and special, and discover how the local cuisine also compliments the vintages.

THUR: Period 5: Blackstone: Build-A-Crumbler Workshop

What does a Crumbler do? It lifts, it chops, it crumbles! Or whatever else you'd like it to do, because the only limit of a true Crumbler is your imagination! In this workshop, we'll build personal variations of our own Crumblers from the ground up! Like making things and working with machines? Then come on down and see what kind of crumbling your own Crumbler can do!

A lot of people are bad at romance which is weird because it's super-easy. But it's okay, world-famous romance peddler Felicia (the nom de smut of world-famous Doctor Navaan) is here to teach all you bad at romance people how to not suck at it.

FRI: Period 2: Beaker & Eagle: Cultural Appropriation

...we are now learning that is not what appropriation means. Bother. Utilizing Portalocity we will experience even more culture! And yogurt!
