Spring 2025 Class Sign Ups!

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone! It's time to sign up for your Spring 2025 Classes! These sign-ups are for EVERYONE: students, teachers, and townies. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. Please read the following before you start signing up:

1) Teacher and Student Class Expectations! The all important guideline for what is expected of the players in Fandom High. Please give it a once-over even if you've seen it in some form or other before - consider it a good thing to click and read while I put up the OCD!

2) Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - given name, then family name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

The Important Stuff About Signing Up For Classes

1) Since we've removed the cap on characters, we have also removed the cap on the number of classes your characters can sign up for, but please consider your RL ability to keep up before chucking a character at every class we're offering.

2) If you're a TA for a class, you need to sign up for that class. It will count towards your minimum 2. Please note TA-ship in the sign-up for easy of making the class lists accurate. Teachers: please refrain from having your own character act as the TA as it defeats the purpose of having a back-up player to post for you!

3) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap. "Blame the moose" has been working for years!

4) If you sign up, please, please try to show up. It lets the mods judge if you're still in the game and it makes the work the teachers are putting into coming up with something fun to interact with so worth it.

5) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.

6) To be fair to people in all time-zones, sign-ups are not first-come, first-serve.

And now we get to what you really want to see: Spring Classes!!!!

FH class sign-ups will close at 11:59pm Eastern on Friday, January 3rd, and are IG knowledge at the Welcome Picnic.

General FYI: Feel free to make changes to your class choices as long as you do it before the deadline. We use the final pings in each thread to make the class lists, not the email notifs. TUESDAY

TUE: Period 1: Argentum: Photography: Focus on Photographers

In this class, get ready to focus on the art of Photography through the lens of the people who are taking all the shots! Each week will be a dedicated focus on a different photographer's work, where we'll explore their portfolio, talk about their technique, discuss our opinions about their work, and maybe try a few things that we can learn from their photographs for ourselves! No previous photography experience necessary, just an eagerness to learn and appreciate this great contemporary art!

TUE: Period 2: Atreides: Mad Kings & Queens: Raving Royals and How to Survive Them

Many of us have been inspired at some point by great men and women in history. The past, however, was also shaped by the insane, the irrational, and the degenerate -- people with absolute power and few inhibitions.

From the whimsical to the deranged, we will explore the catalogue of chaos and depravity left in their wake, and look at various ways they were removed from power.

As always, this course is not recommended for the faint-of-heart.

TUES: Period 3: Skywalker & Tano: The Power of Friendship

Friendship is the most powerful force in the galaxy, so let's go on a magical adventure of friendship and in the end we'll find that the real friends were the friends we made along the way.

WEDNESDAY

WED: Period 1: Cutter & Temple: Introduction to Paleontology

Learn about the ancient past and how it helped shape the Earth as we know it today. This class will also learn about the different type of fossils and the types of environment and time periods that they came from.

WED: Period 2: Rogers & Stark: The Great British Bakeoff! But American!

We'll learn how to bake together, since your teachers are not good at it a variety of categories of baked goods including--but not limited to!--bread, cakes, cookies that aren't hard and terrible, and pies without fish in them!

WED: Period 3: Sims: Bettering Your Community & Yourself

We all live here, so let's do what we can to make it better! We'll be cleaning things, helping people, and hopefully having a good time doing it. And when there's nothing to do, we'll be working on ourselves.

THURSDAY

THURS: Period 1: Amicitia: Let's Play Some Sports!

Hey! Let's play some sports! And learn about them, too, in this class designed to give you a little fun physical activity and knowledge of some sports and games that you might be familiar with or maybe might be completely new to you! Yeah! Sports!

THURS: Period 2: Cara & Foster: Relaxing for Dummies

Have you ever struggled with how best to simply relax and enjoy your time without needing to have something to occupy your time? Do you want tips from two type A weirdos on these matters? Then you've come to the right class!

THURS: Period 3: Blake: Health Education

If you don't know what a vaccine is or aren't sure if you've ever had one, you need this class. If you don't know how to use a condom, you need this class. If you've never heard of germ theory or a vitamin, I am begging you to take this class. We've made great advances in this universe in the field of not dying, and I want you all to benefit from that, both through an improved personal understanding of how to stay healthy but also by not taking the next smallpox back to your home dimension.

FRIDAY

FRI: Period 1: Smith: So You're New to the Multiverse...

So, you're new to the multiverse, huh? Or maybe you aren't, but it still sort of makes your brain hurt when you think about it a little too much or try to negotiate some of finer details of existing in an interdimensional nexus. Whatever the reason you might feel the need to enrich yourself on handling these particular points, this class is meant to help you sort of figure it all out. Or, barring that, at least expanding your experience so it's a little less weird when you encounter multiversinal mischief and mayhem....or even cause it (unintentionally or not!) yourself.

FRI: Period 2: Raiden: Potatoes!

You may be wondering, "But how is he going to teach a full semester about potatoes," and to that I say, "How could I not teach a full semester about potatoes? They're so full of delicious potential. We'll learn how to make hash browns and french fries and latkes and even some potato dishes that aren't fried (and don't forget the sweet potato!) and learn some of the history of this wonderful and nutritious tuber.

FRI: Period 3: Stark: Cupcake Wars (Yes, Again)

It's time for even more friendly cupcake competitions. Each week will have a theme and a winner will be chosen. Probably. Unless your instructor decides not to be competitive after all.
