Meme: Reverse Questions with a Twist

It's gonna be a super quiet week and I don't wanna. We last did this in August but I have a weird amount of new questions, so babble at me.

Pose a question (or as many as you'd like, and they don't all have to be in one comment, so you can come back later and add more if you want) to your fellow players about the game or their characters, and they will Wall-of-Text if they want to, look, I know how some of you are answer them. They can be personal or silly. You don't have to answer all of them! Nothing counts in game, of course and etc.

Questions might include "Which of your characters are you the most like?", "Which BDE was your favorite?", "What music do you RP to?", etc.

Who's your easiest character to play right now?

Rey. Jaina's super, super easy but she gets out less.

Do you think your characters have forms of Earth ID, and if so, what? If they don't have it, why not?

Jaina's had fake IDs since high school. Same for Sabine.

Kitty's driver's license is legit.

Rey really should have something. Doesn't.

Do you like looking for outfits/recipes/what have you to link in posts?

Depends on the situation. Most of the time unless it's a fancy event or needs a costume I don't bother. I like finding drinks for the bar.

And Rey's got a pretty small Earth wardrobe so I just upload all of that stuff up her journal and link as necessary because if she's wearing it, it's notable.

What's your favorite aspect to play of your characters?

[thatsmysword]

Henry: he's so inquisitive. I don't have to worry about him talking about himself too much because he genuinely just Wants To Know Things, and he's affable while trying to get to know them. (I also enjoy that that's 50% just who he is and 50% him trying to play up this side of himself because he's a mess underneath, but I wouldn't be me if I didn't.)

Pam: Okay so 'I love thinking about the ways her narrative should tie into nature metaphors' probably isn't an aspect. Past that, I love the dance of how she's always at one remove from humanity (because sort-of nature elemental) but also one remove from nature (because still human). And it's always fun when she devolves into a sapphic mess.

Jesse: She's just so aggressively normal and calm in the face of weird stuff, while fixating on and getting anxious about all the little ways she's weird herself.

Lucifer: The genuine joy he gets out of helping people get what they desire (especially the people he loves) on the one hand, his perpetual struggles with acknowledging that people are actually also people with like, thoughts and feelings and stuff, and the comedy that stems from that.

And what's the hardest aspect to play of your characters?

I am constantly worried about losing touch with a character's voice. Getting the voice right is one of the primary things I look for in if I can play a character, and losing that -- or worse, it never coming consistently when I need it to -- is usually what kills a character for me.

If you're away for a while, what's your preferred method of dealing with your character (turning them into an animal, sending them off, etc)?

Rey usually goes home. Jaina's super either goes home or gets turned into a kitten because I think it's hilarious. But a lot of the time if I'm not gone long I just decide the character's there but quiet.

How do you pick what animals/what have you to turn your kids into?

Jaina's a tiny little gray kitten because I think it's adorable and it tortures her so, win/win.

Rey's a sand cat, because Jedi are cats. *nods*

Sabine's a bright pink wren. She's mad about it.

Kitty's a lion cub. Because when your name is Kitty Pryde...

How did you choose your characters' flavors? (Such a weird question with no context)

Jaina I think was cayenne? Because it's good, but a little spicy.

Okay so back when The Rise of Skywalker came out there was a Rey/Kylo Ren ice cream that was half dark chocolate and half whire chocolate. So Rey is of course white chocolate. Because of an ice cream.

It's been a while since I've done hers but Kitty is a Mint Meltaway from Fannie Mae because Chicago. And deep dish pizza or Italian beef felt wrong.

How did you choose your characters' daemons?

The quizzes never fit for Rey, so I ended up going through the answers you could get, and it felt right for her to get a coyote, because solitary desert animal.

Jaina got a mountain lion, and I don't remember the description but nothing has ever felt more fitting.

Do you get bleed? How do you handle it? Has it changed over time?

In the early days I'd get it really badly, but now not really. If there's a really emotional post or something I might feel it but then I close the browsers and go on unbothered.

What is happening though is that my face responds to pings? Like I'll be writing something and someone passes my desk and asks what's wrong or why I'm smiling. Oops.?

What's the most annoying part of your canons?

I've accepted the Palpatine thing. I'm never gonna like it. Also the sequel trilogy has been almost entirely ignored for new canon and I get why but also gimme.

For Star Wars Legends, I'm gonna be forever mad that I never got the Sword of the Jedi book. They kept the main characters from passing the torch for SO LONG and they scrapped it all before my girl finally got her book. Ugh.

And I have some Issues with what they did with Sabine in Ahsoka. I can work with it just fine, but... choices. They were made.

What's a character you would love to play but can't for some reason?

. . . All the characters I have tried and not been able to play for long.

And all the ones I have in my folder of never-apped apps. Including but not limited to:

• Rose Marshall
• Wendy Corduroy
• so many other book or cartoon characters
• oh shit, now I just thought of maybe trying my hand at Asmodeus from Haunted Hotel. . . .

How are you with SP and has that changed over time?

I think I've always been good with it but now it's a little weird when I don't have a thread in SP. the number of times I refreshed a thread in case I missed a ping.

How do you get your character out of a rut, either emotionally or OOC playing wise?

[solo_sword]

I wish I was better at this! In a playing rut, I try to throw the character into open posts, often with characters they don't know. It's harder when things are slow.

Emotionally, I'll write them into something probably fluffy, and can turn a corner that way.

Do you generally play mostly guys, girls, or a mix? Has that changed over time?

Almost all girls. I think I've played six or seven guys total. They just typically don't jump out at me, I don't know why.

Who have been some of your favorite characters to play, and why?

[solo_sword]

Aeryn is one of my all time favorite characters and I really like what I was able to do with her.

Jaye and Nick Miller are characters where whatever came out of their mouths (so to speak) felt like the best thing ever. I can go back and read them and laugh.

I've been able to play so much good stuff thanks to Jaina. And she's an emotional character so I got to play a ton of different aspects to it, even when the source material was bad. Rey's definitely been the same way.

Annie Edison turned out to be really off the wall and I got to do some of the dumbest stuff.

For those who play from open canons, do you incorporate everything new that comes out? How do you handle if/when to add it IG?

Pam's canon is perpetually open, but also specifically open in that GWW's run is still going with no end in sight (which is an achievement for something originally meant to be a mini). With her (and with open canon characters past) I tend to wait until an arc is fully concluded and the ramifications of it are clear enough, then decide whether to catch up on it and if so, what to change (or not).

Like I'm presently dodging the next story arc that's supposed to come right after the plot I just did because it's been a wild ride for over a year now. And I don't want to get Pam stuck in anything where I can't oversee the consequences for her in game.

Also I think I'm probably safe and no one will use Atton for anything again, but the last time I said that (like ten years ago now) they suddenly dropped a 'oh btw Atton's from Alderaan' on us for NO REASON in an encyclopedia somewhere, so.

Do you have any upcoming plans for any of your characters?

Jaina'll finally be going home after the semester. And she's keeping the house. She's here too much not to.

Otherwise everybody's coasting.

And do you have any ideas for your characters that aren't actually plans yet but you want to talk about them anyway?

I'm very torn on if/how I want to have Remy go through any of his later canon. I pulled him from kind of right before he gets married, and as much as I love that whole storyline, I'm not sure I want to have a permanent NPC bride to have to handle, too. (Sorry, Rogue.) And of course the whole Krakoan era is kind of a load of bizarre cultish nonsense.

But then again, Remy (spoiler for Knights of X) DIES in the Krakoan era, and we all know how much I love me some good angst like that. . . .

What's your biggest jossing?

Not exactly a jossing, because the foreshadowing regarding Lazarus was there from book one if you really looked for it, but how things went down in Alastair's book was...a thing.

Also Melinda Taub dropped a new book I didn't know was coming and it turns out Mary Bennet was a mad scientist all along and Lydia just never noticed. (To be fair, this is very in character for Lydia.)

Do you look for characters to app or do you let them jump out at you?

As of late I've mostly been looking for them. I'm not watching a lot of scripted stuff, so there aren't many characters that could jump out. So I'll watch things with the thought of "I need someone who can check this box."

Do you RP smut, or would you rather FTB?

I'm good either way. I tend to leave it up to the other person and what they're comfortable with/have time for.

What do you think your characters would be like on House Hunters?

[solo_sword]

Rey's standards are so incredibly low that she'd probably jump at the cheapest thing and make it work and the show would be five minutes long. The countertops aren't granite? Countertops are a luxury and you're lucky to get them.

Kitty'd have too much fun and play it up for no reason. She'd look forward to saying "I'm a bartender and work one day a week, my budget is four million dollars."

Jaina and Sabine wouldn't do it.
