It's possible that I am the only one who likes this meme. But I am suddenly in a meme-ing mood, which like never happens, and this is the meme I wanted to do. And per throughaphase's fabulous spreadsheet, we haven't done this one in nearly five years!

Did I post this just to finally get to explain Remy’s journal name?

MAYBE.

In one of his many solo book runs, Remy managed to get knighted TWICE. Once “accidentally” so he could steal Excalibur from Queen Elizabeth II, and once “for real” by fairies. (He is also a main character in the “Knights of X” series of the Krakoa era, but our Remy hasn’t done that yet.)

So that’s where “knight” comes in. The rest? He wears knee high metal boots.

He is a knight. In shin armor.

So now he's sharp. Sharp in mind, sharp-dressed, sharp knives, etc.

Lydia's is a quote from the book, playing on the opening line of Pride and Prejudice (although it's not the first line of Scandalous Confessions): "It is a truth universally acknowledged that the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter must be a witch."

Nell at one point in canon says 'My land, my rules' and I thought that was just a great phrase and so there we are!

I could have probably come up with something flowery for Henry. Maybe something to do with him being a smith, or being the bastard child of a noble, or all the dog motifs and metaphors the game uses for him, or even his motor mouth qualities or some fun quote or a tragic reference to Skalitz... but no.

Having just played the first game at the time I was writing my app, my brain got stuck on his primary preoccupation for the first game and a half.



... look, the sword is important to him. He made it for Sir Radzig (his real dad) with Martin (the guy who actually raised him) and then someone lit his village on fire, killed everyone he knew bar Theresa, and then stole his sword. Bet it'd be a major PTSD/berserker rage trigger for YOU, too. Hmph.

I'd been noodling on the idea to app a version of Poison Ivy for quite a while, so I went back and rewatched and reread a whole bunch of canon about different versions of her to prepare myself. In one of the original Batman: The Animated Series episodes she appears in, some random characters referred to Ivy derisively as 'Joan of bark', and I thought that was so cool that I was going to claim the name regardless of which version of her I played.

And then I apped the current comic book run's Ivy instead, but I feel like it still fits. Especially now that GWW is just doing things like full-on 'what if Pam was the Lady of the Lake?'-style one-shots whenever anyone offers her the opportunity to do a one-shot.

When Caleb was a wee tyke and had no control over his powers, he got to talking to the ghost of a child who died in a mining disaster. This ghost was part of a (what's the collective noun for ghosts? A haunt?) of ghosts who died in similar circumstances, led by their friend. In canon, this friend is simply known as "The Boy". When The Boy came to collect his wayward charge he warned said ghost "I told you not to talk to any of these haints". Referring to Caleb.

And Caleb mentally objected to being called a haint, though he wasn't so certain of himself. Hence the name.

Gregorith's mom makes really good pie. And Gregorith is really good at Among Us Imposter. Gregorith regularly kicks his best friend Beleth's ass in that game and Beleth's office has really comfy couches. Beleth pretends to get really upset at being killed in Imposter and forbids Gregorith from lounging on said couches, in order to get apologies in the form of Gregorith's mom's pie.

Jesse isn't really an 'iconic lines' type of character, so I was really stumped for her for a while. There was, of course, her in-game theme song 'Take Control', but I also couldn't find anything cool in that. And then... the really fun 'doing the song Dynamite but rewriting it for Jesse as part of a thing she runs into while in her own head' skit the game does.

Now 'jesse is dynamite' or something wouldn't sound appropriate for her, but she calls herself 'so weird' after that sequence, and I remembered she calls herself weird a lot in this game while ostensibly coming across as mostly a determined, if very internally-focused, hero figure, so-- idk I landed on 'weirderthanthou'.

The fact everyone gets a big I Will Fight You, Demon line before confronting Kreia (and then getting their asses kicked), only for Atton to wander in after them and say 'and now I come in, saying something suitably heroic'?

I grabbed his journal name a million years ago when I was considering apping 616-Yana, based off a quote of hers, just because it's a great freaking username.

When I decided to app 18133-Yana, I considered making a new account/username, but it's still so accurate I opted to keep it. She's still someone who was shaped to be a weapon of mass destruction. Her Soul Staff is now creation magic, but still brings oblivion to any sorcerer that ends up on the wrong end of it. And she's still emo enough it's something she might say.

At the time, I debated magnificent_bastard and laughing_magician, but I think one or both of them were taken, and something about the above quote just fit John so well that I could not get it out of my head.

In Belle's very first scene, Rumplestiltskin shows up to save her and her people. For a price because there's always a price. Belle's dad promised him gold. Rumple said "my price is her" and pointed to Belle.

Belle's dad and betrothed both told him and her that this was never gonna happen. Belle essentially went "you're not the bosses of me."

Because she's great.

But it was last minute instead I thought about a) how Arden is terribly afraid of the scent of marshmallow, b) that afraid-of-marshallow seemed like a cool username, c) it would be fun making everyone go, "wtf does that EVEN MEAN???"
