Quick reminders about the radio

In a continuing fight to make sure my friendslist is as up-to-date as possible (I can't report about what I don't see), I'm asking for a couple more sets of eyes over it. If you could look here and make sure that your characters are on there (I believe I caught all of the latest round of new townies, but I don't want to be leaving anyone behind), I'd be most appreciative.

As a reminder for newcomers, anything you don't want included in the radio broadcast must be marked as such--either as "private" "OOC" "locked to [so, so, so, and whoever, even if "whoever" is "everyone in the whole school but Barbossa"]" or "NFB (not for broadcast)." With more than 280 individual journals, as well as some insanely active communities, the recappers just can't spend the time we used to triple-checking to make sure that the status of the conversation hasn't changed since we pulled it--which we do towards the end of every night. If you don't want the thread to be included, please, please, please be marking it as such.

Similarly, if your room/house/office/whatever has magically Twinkie-induced force-fields or something that would make it impossible for us to hear what's going on, please note it in the post. The recappers are reporting on every single plot that shows up in a given day and occasionally forget canon-specific rules that would bar us from hearing your nefarious plotting/hot sex/screaming fight.

One final thing: if you want to put [livejournal.com profile] fandom_radio on your friendslist, please be sure to friend it rather than attempt to join the community. If you attempt to join the community, I'll assume you want to join the staff and you'll be given the thrill of trying to make sense of the daily Study Hall entry.

If you do want to join our staff of insane buccaneers (and we're always looking for masochists OCD-types more help), drop me a line in this entry or in the Pirate's voicemail. We're looking for researchers who will agree to read a community or set of journals as well as recappers to actually do a nightly broadcast. And please don't think that your character has to speak pirate or be an Ash-like shock jock or snarky like Faith to speak once a week: if you're willing to do the work (and it's a lot of work--a couple hours a night of coding and making with the funny), we're more than happy to have you.

And thank you all, again and always, for being so much fun to report on.

Question: does "locked to X, Y and Z" also equal "Not for Broadcast"? I assumed "locked" meant "only these characters can play, please don't interrupt, but this scene can be mentioned on the radio" and "Not for Broadcast" meant "Fandom Radio doesn't mention this."

But then I saw a comment that seemed to indicate locked automatically equaled NFB and I got all confuzzled.

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-10-24 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, not confuzzled anymore! Could we also put a note in the original post "Locked to X and Y, but okay to broadcast"?

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-10-24 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool. Because Angelus/Crowley would've been fine, and it wasn't until after that I figured it was probably not mentioned since it was sort-of kind-of locked.

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you for asking about this, by the way, because I'd been suffering the same confusion -- seeing "Locked" as meaning "don't comment unless you're one of these people" and not "nobody can see/hear/smell what's happening except these people".

Question that has probably been answered in the past, but I am assuming clinic threads are assumed confidential because of the setting until they are posted about on another journal?

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2005-10-24 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
They reported my sniffles! ;o)

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2005-10-24 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
*blows nose* Yeah, Cameron is starting to wonder about how much Barbossa does know about him.

Not that I minded. *g*

[identity profile] lisacuddy.livejournal.com 2005-10-24 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Sweet. I only ask because usually I'm all 'who gives a fuck?' about if something ends up on the radio or not, but Grissom will be seriously ill for a while, and part of the plot is him concealing it. I mean, there is no reason to assume he has anything but a virus anyway, but when he gets his test results and yadda yadda it is fine if people have suspicions/see him coming and going but yeah... this is why I ask. *sentences... so hard! *headdesk*

I was actually about to voicemail you on the topic of what can and can't be broadcasted. I was considering that anything that happens inside Blood Gulch Arms that involves trades would not be known to anyone but Tex and the costumer concerned. I think saying that someone was spotted going inside and regular interaction is alright, just as long as the sales themselves don't show up on the radio. If it's easier for you to just say that the posts are completely NFB then I can just always include that in the title.

Unless of course, you want and IC one on one discussion between Barbossa and Tex for him reporting that Marty bought gas masks at her shop on the radio (if Marty doesn't mind).

Thanks for doing the radio. It's always fun to read.

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2005-10-24 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll do that. I'll leave a voicemail when there's something in her posts that is possible interesting for broadcasting.

(Sorry, replying with Cameron as Tex has been approved in townies but I haven't had the invitation for OOC yet.)

I might be willing to help with the research -- what does it entail? (I don't want to promise anything I can't do.)

Hmm. I could do that, or at least some of that. Email me with what you would need? redangela at gmail dot com.

(I love the radio so much, it only seems right to give back.)

Do you know if we can we stick NFB on a thread in a public place?

[identity profile] the4thsister.livejournal.com 2005-10-24 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
ok thank you

I think you guys do a kick ass job. You're all crazy masochists for trying to recap a bizillion threads every day, but I really appreciate it.

I'd be willing to do a broadcast one night a week. Monday's easiest for me, but I'm flexible. Han's a busy boy but the late radio broadcast, and the fact he has no morning classes except shop, shouldn't be a problem.

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I can help with hunting through a few journals here and there if you need it.

[identity profile] master-of-fear.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
the last thing you need is another excuse to stay up until all hours of the night! *loves on you and the awesome Starter Kit*

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
You have no idea how much I was tempted to have Jack do Saturday broadcast. The only thing that stopped me is the fact that that's now my whole coding day.

And also, dude thank you, I now have the kit linked in my info and will re-post it once a week or so when I update it.

*serenades, sends flowers*

Also? If someone tries to join, I say we give them studyhall. It's only fair.
*is in no way trying to get out of the dread studyhall. (I kinda love reading it, though)*

Oh, definitely the library.
