OOC Announcement: Class Signups

All right, here's the deal as far as class signups go.

The post will go up very late tonight/early tomorrow morning (between 2-3AM PST, 5-6AM EST -- 10-11AM GMT), and a corresponding announcement here on fandomhigh_ooc will be made with a link. Sorry about the odd hour for you Western Hemisphere-based players, but we're taking our international players into account here.

I will be making this post from this journal, and linking it at fandomhigh. (Why? Well, it's going to take me the better part of an hour at least to set up the comment threads, and it's going to be a locked post until I have that done.) There will be a very specific thread structure set up in the comments. For everyone's ease and convenience, as well as organization's sake, please, please, please adhere to the thread structure, which will be as follows:

* Department (i.e. Science and Mathematics, Arts, etc.)

- Teacher

- Course Name (and section if necessary)

Sign up for your courses under the proper subthreads, please. This will make it much easier for us to go through and compile class rosters, as well as use the signup post for a reference.

All students are required to have a minimum of three classes, and no more than five until Add/Drop period begins, please. Thanks.

In addition, please do not use the signup post for IC interaction. It's going to be busy enough, and again we're going to be referring to this post in order to compile class rosters. A separate post will be set up in fandomhigh for you all to use for student interaction during the class signup period; in addition, for the teachers' convenience, a link post will be set up in fandom_lounge for them to check their class signups, since all comment notifications will be coming to me. When Add/Drop period comes around, it will be structured the same way.

Please note as well that classes are not strictly First Come First Serve. On that note: Teachers, please post your class priority preferences in the provided OCD comment thread below, ASAP. Otherwise, priority will be arranged according to class standing (Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores, Freshmen). As stated by agent_principal below, class priorities need to be reasonable, academic, In-Character ones, and not OOC, except in the case of plot-based needs. Again, keep it reasonable.

ETA: Thanks to carter_i_am for reminding me. All students need to sign up for their own classes.

ETA2: It's been brought to my attention that several players will be attending a con this weekend and won't be available when class signup begins. Can all players who are going to unavailable due to RL commitments please check in below (I'll add a third comment thread shortly)?

Tactics of War, while masquerading as an OMG THIS IS JUST THEORY NOT REAL!, should really be taken by students who are planning to be the soldier-y type. But, I assume that such students will be signing up for the course anyway -- and there's no good IC reason to make that a preference --- SO... NM!

Lee Adama is not allowed to sign up for my class as he's a bigoted little robot-hating fiend.

For Creative Writing: Poetry, priority will be given to students who took the class last term, and priority to kikidelivers in particular, as she will be acting as Chaucer's TA for this class.

No priority set for Introduction to Western Literature, except for scissors__, as he will be acting as TA for this class.

1. I told Boone's new player that I'd reserve a spot in Psych 101 if he wanted it, as he'd picked the character up with only a short time left prior to the end of the term, and didn't get to participate in Abnormal Psych like he wanted. The LJ is [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], I believe.

2. Anyone who got below a C in Abnormal Psych isn't going to be excluded from Jenny's courses, but I'd like to have an IC meeting with them before okaying their signups. So basically, if they got below a C, sign-up is allowed with instructor approval only due to concerns that they might be unable to handle the requirements of the classes. (And I'll go and set up office hours right now with that in mind so we can hopefully get RP on that out of the way before signups.)

3. I've spoken to Kiki about Magical Theory and encouraged her to sign up for it, as she's an apprentice witch who, um, needs a lot of work at the subject. So it's a plotty thing, and I'd like to give her priority, but if you guys don't think that's a good enough reason, I'm cool with that too.

Quantum Physics 225 has a prereq of having taken 123. Other students can enter upon Ten's permission--either by wheedling him in person at his office hours (posted this weekend) or having background knowledge as a character (i.e. River Tam would have sufficient science knowledge; a char who's been a time traveller before would be also eligible). If the character can make up the information on his or her own time, then I'll consider hir admission to the class.

Also, students are only allowed to enroll in one of the two art subjects at this time.
