reminders: graduation guests and senior plans!

Good morning, evening, afternoon or anything in between! Whatever time it is where you are, I hope it's treating you well! We've just got a few important reminders for you for this morning!

  • Graduation guests are due by TODAY, April 28. If you want family and friends to come to see your senior graduate, make sure you sign them up TODAY!
  • Senior plans are due by April 30th! Please let us know what your senior's going to be doing after they graduate!

And since sharing tiems is always fun, tell me players, what's the worst injury you've ever had? Because, seriously, we were all kids (or we're clumsy) and sharing war stories is always interesting. Me? Someone once dumped a bowl of scalding water on my thigh. HUGE second degree burn. Worst pain I have EVER FREAKING FELT IN MY LIFE.

Yes, I think I'll do that. I have no time to be injured at the moment.

I spent most of my childhood being with my cousins the day they came down with chicken pox. I never ever came down with it. The summer I was 16 I was volunteering in the hospital. I went to work feeling fine, within 2 hours I had to call mom to come get me because I had a raging fever and felt like crap. We spent the weekend thinking I had mono. Finally two days later, all things things started popping out on my skin. We had an "Aha!" moment. I drugged myself to the eyeballs on Benadryl and slept for a week.

I know!!! I couldn't wear anything but sweatpants for a week because any pressure on it hurt like hell.

And yes, I am a total dork. My father was sitting with me all "What the hell are you doing?" Me: "Oh nothing, but my internet friends will want to see pictures."

THIS IS THE WORST POST EVER, TRACY.

Some people might remember this as I had to put up an OOC post about it! A couple years ago I got really sick one night, woke up the next morning intending to go about my day and instead either passed out or got so dizzy that I knocked myself out. I fell, cracked my head against the corner of my wall, and woke up in a pool of blood on the carpet. Also to note that apparently I am the calmest person ever in a crisis because when my friend came to pick me up to take me to urgent care, she found the door open and me trying to clean the carpet before it stained. It actually wasn't a bad cut all in all, but it bled like a mofo and due to the fact that I'd lost my job just three days earlier and was uninsured, I wasn't able to get the needed X-rays, so I spent a couple days praying it wasn't a concussion. Also I can tell where I hit, because I'm pretty sure there's still an indentation in my head that wasn't there before. (Go to the doctor, Natalie. Yes, yes I know.)

And for a bonus, I once was doing PA work on a set, and was literally running around trying to get something before shooting when I missed a dip in the floor. I ended up breaking my heel... and still had to work all day. I iced up my foot when I could, kept my weight on my other foot, and had to go on working like that for another five hours. And another two weeks after that.

Ugh yes. I was 17, had final exams to do, the state SAT type exam to sit and a trip to Canada gearing up...and I got chicken pox. Badly. Forget all the injuries, the chicken pox still makes me shudder the most.

*STARES*

You *jumped* out of a second story window???

WHY

[identity profile] once-a-traitor.livejournal.com 2010-04-28 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude. That head injury is scary.

[identity profile] findingelena.livejournal.com 2010-04-28 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
This isn't quite "worst injury" territory, but I do have the dubious honor of being one of the only people I know who had to go to the Emergency Room twice in one day for two different conditions.

Protip: if the ER people give you pain pills which "may cause dizziness," and an inner ear infection has already fucked up your balance? Enjoy falling down the stairs!

Also, when you stand up again and go "that's weird, I don't feel injured, I think I'm okay!" that does not mean you aren't; that just means you are still high on pain pills.

I was 8 and figured I could make it! ("figured I could make it" is a pretty regular occurrence in my dumbass injury stories) Except my shorts caught on the window latch, so I hung in mid air for a couple of seconds before I fell. And landed haaaard. It was only a greenstick fracture though!

OW OW OW

I have terrible knees and ankles thanks to my years of dancing and marching band.

[identity profile] wantstocheer.livejournal.com 2010-04-28 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
And suddenly that laundry list of injuries you listed in another comment makes a lot more sense.

PLEASE DON'T DO THOSE THINGS ANYMORE, K???

sagjklagjsklagj;ag

I must have missed or blocked that OOC post because HOLY CRAP that is my worst nightmare (the passing out alone thing).

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2010-04-28 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I've broken an ankle, pinky, leg, sprained the other leg badly (which hurt a lot), and I swear gave myself a light concussion on a trip to Europe where I hit my head 22 times in 16 days, but all of that was pretty mild, especially compared to everyone else in here.

So instead I'll just share that I once cut pretty deeply into the back of my thumb with an X-Acto knife that I was holding in that same hand. There were witnesses to this. We have never figured out how this was physically possible.

Also, not to brag or anything, but it was a VERY clean cut.

Omg I made Miss 23 Head Injuries call mine scary. That is worrisome.

[identity profile] once-a-traitor.livejournal.com 2010-04-28 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I'LL TRY. Interestingly, I've been having some work done on my back and legs to fix some pretty deep muscular problems. My remedial therapist has managed to fix my balance and I'm much, much less clumsy since that's been done. Who knew there was a cure for clumsy?

[identity profile] once-a-traitor.livejournal.com 2010-04-28 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
It's totally the blood and the being there aloneness. Every time I was a dumbass (and really, almost every time it was me being a dumbass), I had someone there to get the first aid kit or immediately drive me to the hospital.

[identity profile] findingelena.livejournal.com 2010-04-28 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
There is nothing okay about any story involving waking up in a pool of blood. Glad you are okay, holy crap.

[identity profile] once-a-traitor.livejournal.com 2010-04-28 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
You tell that story so well. I can't help but laugh when you do! Sorry D:

It was I think January 2008? I think I downplayed the post a lot but saved the "I AM TRYING NOT TO FALL ASLEEP BUT CAN'T FIND IT IN ME TO PING" for IM's. *g*

Yeah, not something I want to ever do again.

I FELL OUT OF A CAR.

Dude, I am like way too rational about stuff, I think. I woke up and was all "Okay, that is not good. Do I need to go to a hospital? Yes, because there is bleeding from the head. Okay, let's check my bank account and make sure I can afford urgent care..." Though I did call my mommy when I got back home cuz wah.

And for the record, the stain in the carpet totally came out. I was all proud of myself when I moved out. :D
