Powers and Skills and Abilities, Oh My!

For everybody's convenience in plotting, we try to keep a running list of the various abilities possessed by FH characters. If you ever find yourself saying, "Hey, I need a magic user/archer/person who can whistle Dixie while eating crackers and covering one eye," that list of powers is meant to be there for you to take a look at.

It's been a while since we did this so here we go:

  • All of the previous posts have been compiled into a spreadsheet that you can always head over to check (and will be linked on the FH community info page)

  • From now on, we only need people to fill this out for new characters, or if you have an update or correction for your older ones. If your stuff is listed over on the spreadsheet, don't worry about this!

  • We've streamlined the categories a bit to focus on "what can you do" instead of worrying about whether that's a magic or mutant or inherent ability. So the wacky powers are now just broken into spellcasting, psionic powers, and superhuman physical attributes.

Anything that is a canon power or ability of your character (including those developed at FH) and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. This is for all character types - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything, not just the wacky powers. We also appreciate yer fighting, research, weapons, support skills and whittlin', baby.

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to do this!

[[Wait for the OCD is up! Have at it. or I will throw a pony at your head.]]

Henry's a fierce street fighter. Not good enough to beat someone with real training, good enough to get himself out of trouble most of the time.

Given her small size, Dru's been trained to fight dirty. She can hold her own, but she'd have a hard time against a stronger opponent. As she gets closer to 'blooming' and her physical abilities grow, she'll get stronger.

Summer has had self defense training from her father and uncle, enough to get her by. She isn't an expert at fighting but she will utilize the things around her to get her out of trouble.

She's currently learning more self defense and will, hopefully, up her skill level as time progresses.

Miles can brawl, but has been known to get pushed around by Kate. But he's got excellent survival skills. I say if he wants to escape badly enough, he can fight the average person and win.

While Zack isn't really a star fistfighter by conventional means, he does warrant a slot in, say, the adanced-intermediate section at Fight Club simply because he can take a beating, and he's got advanced physical strength and reflexes.

There isn't really any particular school of fighting that he's enrolled in, though. It's more, "I get hit, I hit back, oh, I don't want to be there if that fist is coming for my face, do I?" He's learned through experience, both on the field and in sparring matches on Fandom Island, and his newfound sense of focus makes him a formidable opponent indeed, considering his speed, strength, agility, and resilience, which are all well beyond that of an average human.

Dan has the ability to punch Chuck Bass in the face. Is that a skill? He does it a lot on the show...

Captain John Price is a trained hand-to-hand fighter. His skills are very good for a normal human.

Scully is a trained law enforcement agent, and has been educated in the required field skills for subduing suspects; unfortunately, she's having to re-train her reflexes and muscle memory to match her training. It'll be a while before she's back up beyond the classification of 'decent at defending herself from human attackers.'

In spite of the Samurai training, Algren's biggest strength in a fight is still that he doesn't seem to know when to stay down, and he will be bleeding quite profusely before he calls it quits.

Beyond that, however, he's learned a good deal of focus, and is quite skilled in a fight, especially now that his injuries have healed. Between his military experience and his martial arts skills, he's a formidable opponent when facing off against other normal humans.

Faith is kickass awesome hand-to-hand fighter. Once again, the mental link with all the Slayers gives her a lot of background, and she has fought her entire life. So yeah, even if she didn't have her physical treats she is very good at fighting. While her usual style is streetfight (which I don't think it's a style at all), she can adopt a large number of fighting styles.

Roy is very good at hand-to-hand, in a streetfight-influenced sort of way, although he's somewhat out of practice at present.

Tim is a really good hand-to-hand fighter, trained in a number of styles. He usually fights with a staff and he knows how to hit pressure points to bring down someone larger than himself. He's small and fast and good at dodging and hitting quickly. Although he's strong for his age and size, he's not a heavy hitter physically.

Asuna has been learning hand to hand combat since she was a kid and gained some experience fighting with her brawls with a classmate in Mahora. She's recently learning kenjutsu, sword fighting.

Gunn is a damn good hand to hand combatant but has learned everything he knows from life on the streets and has had no formal training.

Like her weapons, Cindy's been training in most basic forms of hand-to-hand for a few centuries by now. Aikido has been mentioned specifically IC, but she's got most basic forms pretty well in hand.

Goose has been trained extensively in various forms of combat as part of his Supertrooper upbringing and is more than capable of holding his own in a fight.

Marcus is a brawler, but a very good one. Because he's partly enhaced with the mechanical bits and bobs, he'll be faster/stronger/have better reflexes than a straight human and be able to take more damage. As a rule, if he's in a serious fight he'll go for the kill as a matter of course.

Jake can hold his own in a fistfight, and is good at picking up whatever's around him and using *that* as a weapon (random bits of lumber, toilet seats, etc). Also he does an excellent barrel roll and is pretty good at chasing people across rooftops/boats.

Squall works for an elite organization of mercenaries. He has been trained in hand-to-hand fighting, although it's not his specialty, and in strategy and tactics.

So, very little.

Bruce has trained in several martial arts, ranging from Judo to Jiu Jitsu to Karate to straight up boxing. While he's mastered a couple of them, he hasn't used it to form his own personal fighting style yet.

Vance has little fight training, although he did spend some time in the Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation, a promotion that featured superpowered fighters actually fighting. Vance primarily managed, but he did get into the ring with The Thing once.
