Powers and Skills and Abilities, Oh My!

For everybody's convenience in plotting, we try to keep a running list of the various abilities possessed by FH characters. If you ever find yourself saying, "Hey, I need a magic user/archer/person who can whistle Dixie while eating crackers and covering one eye," that list of powers is meant to be there for you to take a look at.

It's been a while since we did this so here we go:

  • All of the previous posts have been compiled into a spreadsheet that you can always head over to check (and will be linked on the FH community info page)

  • From now on, we only need people to fill this out for new characters, or if you have an update or correction for your older ones. If your stuff is listed over on the spreadsheet, don't worry about this!

  • We've streamlined the categories a bit to focus on "what can you do" instead of worrying about whether that's a magic or mutant or inherent ability. So the wacky powers are now just broken into spellcasting, psionic powers, and superhuman physical attributes.

Anything that is a canon power or ability of your character (including those developed at FH) and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. This is for all character types - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything, not just the wacky powers. We also appreciate yer fighting, research, weapons, support skills and whittlin', baby.

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to do this!

[[Wait for the OCD is up! Have at it. or I will throw a pony at your head.]]

Henry is fluent in French and German, and seems to know some Latin. Mostly, he really likes bookses.

190 IQ. Peter is canonically a jack of all trades and master of none, so he picks up on new skills and knowledge rather readily.

Summer possesses a Master's degree in Marine Biology and worked as a researcher for NUMA, so she knows the ins and outs of gathering information (on the computer or otherwise).

She has a basic understanding of German and is fluent in French and, I believe, Spanish (if I'm remembering correctly).

Dan can research like only a huge nerd can.

Other than that, he's freaking useless.

Scully is a medical doctor of ten year's experience, emphasis on forensic pathology. She's completely fine and experienced with autopsies, dead bodies of all kinds and states of decomposition, and weird toxins and viruses that might be infecting them. She's also excellent at first aid, emphasis on gun shot wounds, knifings, random LSD druggings, and concussions-- since Mulder keeps her in practice for all that. Her transformation has not effected her knowledge or ability to deal with emergencies in this area.

She's also an experienced scientific researcher with a physics undergrad degree, and again, ten years experience with examining physical evidence of crimes. She's designed experiments, collected data, and used statistical analysis to explain inexplicable findings. Her knowledge of the internet is 10 years out of date, but she catches on fast, and she's an experienced researcher in historical files as well.

Randomly: She speaks German. Can cook fairly well. Recognizes Dineh on sight, and has a very minor knowledge of it. Is an experienced sailor and swimmer. Is an experienced law enforcement operative and agent, familiar with the law and police procedure.

Algren speaks fluent Blackfoot and Japanese- he's something of a linguist, and tends to pick up on other languages quickly, especially when he's immersed in them completely. It's a fascination of his, right along with learning the customs of other people.

Also, he's a military strategist. He's got an uncanny ability to pick out weak points in the defenses and offenses of others, and to work them around to his advantage.

Roy has tons of experience being a sidekick, not that he's happy about it at present.

That said, he's fluent in Dine Bizaad (also known as Navajo) and Spanish, and speaks some Japanese. He's also a pretty decent detective and good at first aid.

Tim's trained in investigation, biology, chemistry, forensics, escapology, undercover work, photography, surveillance, stealth, acrobatics, martial arts, tactics and a number of other skills that pop up as the plot requires.

He's also an extremely good computer hacker and programmer. He can build electronic devices, but he's stronger on the software side of things.

Because of his training and studies with Batman, he's got the power to pull really obscure information out of his ass. If you need to have someone know the airspeed velocity of both African and European swallows off the top of their head, Tim could be your guy.

Angelo, Rinoa's pet dog, is a trained rescue/attack dog. As in, at random times during the game, she will just show up and either attack the enemy or heal an ally or -- and this is most WTF of all -- dig at the ground for a bit before finding something there, like a potion or a rare item.

Rinoa can also summon Angelo by whistling, in which case she'll jump up to be launched at the enemy in place of her wrist-mounted boomerang.

Angelo fucking rules. And is available for any "help! I am stranded here and injured!" Rescue Dog needs.

(Also, Rinoa has healing spells, but Rescue Dog got top billing.)

Kate can speak basic French, knows some Japanese (basic expressions + some vocabulary you'd expect an anime fan to have picked up), and can read some Latin.

Claudia's a computer whiz and a hardcore physicist who dabbles in chemistry. Which means that she can a) hack into various servers, b) research the hell out of stuff that can be found on the internet, c) crack door codes and things given time and a computer terminal to connect to said electronic door code, and best of all, d) build crazy-ass crap out of whatever she finds lying around.

She can probably repair your high-tech devices, as well. Though she'll want permission to mess with them a bit before she returns them.

Squall's magic includes healing spells. He also carries several types of healing potions with him at all times. (The pockets on those skintight pants are bigger than they look.)

Cassidy is good at research and information gathering, as well as brewing some potions to help others feel better. She is NOT a trained Healer, just knows enough to get by in the meantime if there is no healer present. She is also good at taking the lead in doing things, or delegating authority as she is being trained as a Queen back home. She is good at soothing people and is currently taking Hawkeye's First Aid class.

This may or may not help. :D

Vance has an encyclopedic knowledge of publicly known information about superheroes in the Marvel Universe in continuity circa 1987.

Also, he's an experienced wrestling manager.

And he's a good enough fraud to fake being a psychic when necessary.

Bruce is a budding inventor and scientist, can speak a number of languages (most of your basic European languages and, because this seems to be comics canon and HOW CAN I RESIST BRINGING IT OVER, Esperanto), is on his way to becoming the World's Greatest Detective, and has a workable understanding of magical theory in both his world and Fandom. Doesn't mean he can do magic, but it does mean that he can put together a few pieces before having to consult an expert.

Bruce has also read a lot on a wide variety of subjects, both fiction and non-fiction, so if you ever need a random fact, he can possibly supply it.
