Summer Plans: We Needs Them!

In order to plan for the summer terms, we need to know what your plans are for your students. Graduates are welcome to stay for the summer as long as they either TA for a workshop (it's up to you to find a teacher to TA for) or if they have a job in town where they can continue to work (as long as there's a post of them at their job at least once a week).

Some things to keep in mind:

  • You can leave at the end the first term if you'd like (the beginning of July), or go home for the first term and come back for the second.
  • All students who are leaving before the summer terms (graduates who aren't sticking around, students who are going away for the summer, and students who are leaving the game or becoming expats) need to be off the island by Friday, May 6th.

All graduates will need to leave the island by the end of the second term (the end of August).

If you've got some summer plans that we need to know, please fill out the following information to let us know what you're planning:

If you're dropping a character entirely, please just shoot us an email about that one. We realize this is going up early but we wanted to give people plenty of time to plan things out. Don't worry, reminders will be going up sporadically as graduation and summer term inch closer. Please have plans in by Friday, April 29th at 11:59PM EST.

I'm sorry if this is answered elsewhere, but I have a few questions about rules about going home for summer terms and whatnot.

Okay, so I plan to send Karla home to Kaeleer for long stretches of time this summer, but there are a few plots and events that will require her to be on-island. I guess my questions are:

*first, if someone says they're going home for a term, are they forbidden to come back to the island at all, or are they subjected to the 5 day/month alumni rule, or something else entirely?

*second, if someone is nominally "on-island" for a term, how many classes and whatnot can be missed before they start to get in trouble, especially if they are being active as a character elsewhere?

I just want to know so I can figure out what works best and coordinate it that way.

Thanks!

We're sorry about the delay in getting back to you here but we wanted to make sure we had the best answer for you before responding.

Students and teachers who choose to go away for the term are on the 5 days a month allowed on island per month rule, yes. There will be some plots (like AU weekend) that won't count against that 5 day rule though.

The number of workshops that Karla could ICly miss would be up to the discretion of the teachers of the workshops she's signed up for. There's no hard and fast rule against that so we'd suggest getting with those players and discussing it with them beforehand. As a suggestion, you could try and schedule all of Karla's workshops on the same day and just make sure she's on the island for that day before sending her off island for her plots. It's up to you, though!
