Looks like we did this one last in June, and with new characters, why not do it again?

It's really simple (which is nice if you're still recovering from a holiday weekend like I am) and goes like this:

Tell us about your character's LJ name, what it means and how you decided on it?

Bonus points for the username stories of your past characters too. Okay, I can't really give bonus points but pretend you get 'em for this.

Anna's is because...okay, look, her book is Anna Dressed in Blood, because that's her nickname. And sometimes simple is best, especially when it's completely awesome.

wasthecuteone Petra was formerly known as JT Woodland, "the cute one" in hit tween boy band Boyz Will B Boyz. Those curls and big eyes made all the eleven-year-old girls sigh. And then she grew up into a beauty queen!

thegodofxbox Alex plays a lot of Xbox. At one point he shouts, "God of fear! God of Xbox!" in victory, and godofxbox was already taken, so I huffed and added the article.

screwyoumarvel I took Steve from a time when Marvel was being pretty awful to him. In fact, he was dead. So, screw you, Marvel.

swerval_zero Not the most creative name I've ever come up with. Her name is Zero, and she's swerval, which in Zerospeak means really cool.

multiplez Z can multiply. End of story. In my head I sometimes say it like multiplex, but with a z. Shush.

ashockingbitch Jenny has electricity powers and she's an enormous bitch. Also, she can be shocking in more than one way. I am embarrassed it took me so long to come up with this one.

exspeedydotcom Roy is the superhero formerly known as Speedy, but he's not Arsenal quite yet. And it's a pun on the Expedia jingle.

ihavediabetes- BECAUSE HOW WOULD YOU KNOW OTHERWISE?

fates_jaye- This was back at the beginning of the game when I was both really uncreative and also they didn't have what I wanted, so I went for the next best thing. In canon Jaye calls herself Fate's bitch, but every variation of it was taken, so I went for the lame alternative.

throughaphase- Kitty can phase, and so I started looking for plays on that, but then I realized this particular one is kind of apt, since she is going through a "I just want to be normal" phase. So, go me!

also_audrey- The explanation to this is sort of really spoilery, but there's this other woman on the show whose name is also Audrey Parker that the fandom calls Fraudrey, and when she asks who she is, Audrey replies, "I'm also Audrey." Which, considering we're not actually sure who she is, except that she knows herself as Audrey, is sort of layered.

inaskinnyway- In the books, Susan's described as "attractive, in a skinny way." As they mean bony, I ran with it.

annieadderall- High school nickname, and a total miracle I got this one.

solo_sword- used to be trickster-twin because of the Yuuzhan Vong putting a weird significance on twins and designating her the trickster while Jacen was the slayer. After I finished the NJO and sped her through her next bit of canon, I changed it to solo_sword, because she's Sword of the Jedi and could really easily be a lone wolf type, plus it's a play on her last name. La!

willbethenight - A riff on the iconic quote early on in The Animated Series: "I am vengeance! I am the night! I! AM! BATMAN!" But Bruce isn't quite there yet.

iwishiwasbig - I spent a long time searching for something for Dave when I found the perfect thing at the end of one of my favorite episodes, "Arcade." An arcade game in the hallway that was taunting Dave the whole episode was finally removed just as he was about to give into his addiction to it. It was replaced by a fortune teller machine. So the tiny Dave, remembering the Tom Hanks movie Big, put in a quarter and said, "I wish I was big." Nothing happened to him, though. Poor Dave.

cataclysmicluck - Early on in the comic, the defining quote for Zayne came from himself: "My luck ranges from barely tolerable to cataclysmic. Master Lucien says I'm proof the Force has a sense of humor!" It was a good enough summation of how his life went at that point. Now that he understands that his luck is just a byproduct of a disability he has as a Force user, I could probably change it. But it's appropriate enough that it's not worth the $15, and it took me several names before eventually settling in on this in the first place anyway.

emoclops - It's the emo-est version of Cyclops outside of the Wolverine & the X-Men cartoon, which didn't even exist when I first made this journal.

bluth_illusions - GOB's last name plus the things he does (besides whores). I'm CREATIVE.

can_be_more- In the premiere episode, John's trying to get Aeryn to escape the Peacekeepers and run off with everyone on Moya, and she puts up a fight, saying, "It's who I am," to which he replies, "You can be more," and she ends up going.

sooo_cute- Quinn says it all the freaking time. So many things are sooo cute.

joel_sol- His name's Joel and he was on the Satellite of Love (SOL). He was also pretty much the slang meaning of those three little letters, too.

smartestone- Every god damn good thing for Hermione was taken, and I was close to the app deadline and I kinda said screw it and this is what we got.

captain_liberty- It was her name, omg.

notclueful- Cher came from Clueless. And I think I'm funny.

fear_of_fish- Dana has a very real fear of fish.

gobrooke_urself- Actually means exactly what it sounds like.

iqof39- Based on an old Scaper joke, where a friend of mine got quoted for saying, "I took one look at him and thought 'my god, he has an IQ of 39.'"

istoomyrealname- Because Juno Eclipse sounds like a Mary Sue's pseudonym.

slapbetcommish- Lily is in fact the commissioner of Barney and Marshall's slap bet.

whos_got_spirit- Adrian's element was spirit, and I am hilarious.

future_smuggler- Self explanatory.

officetightass- Angela once one a Dundy for being the office tightass. Also because she has a great caboose.

notavalleygirl- My Kitty 1.0 was from X-Men Evolution, and for some reason they made her a total Valley girl in the first season and it made not sense.

feels_special- "I like having low self-esteem. It makes me feel special."

First of all, my only Twitter name -- RGS_2012 is because I figured Rory would have set up a Twitter entirely for the political blogging thing, and it would be uncreative as hell for that reason.

Now:

canadianpopstar is because Robin is and was literally a popstar in Canada -- she was Robin Sparkles when she was a teenager, and she hates being reminded of that. So natch, it's her username.

notqueenyet is because at the time, Aravis was just Lady Aravis/Aravis Tarkheena, and while her little blurb at the end tells us that she'd be Queen of Archenland eventually, she wasn't yet. I was totally tempted to change it for the BDE since she was.

weefeetbigboots is because there is a canon quote from Mal about the sound of "little feet in enormous workboots" as Kaylee and River played, and I think it sums up Kaylee's entire personality very well.

remember5th is basic; Evey's entire canon is based around Guy Fawkes' November 5th plot, and the rhyme, "Remember, remember, the fifth of November" plays heavily into the story.

italksmack is based off of my favorite Kelly quote ever (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5_hWKS1Qaw).

lots_of_olives is based off of Pepper's request that Tony get her a martini with "a lot of olives."

ismypenis is maybe my favorite username ever, and based off of what the Hammer really is.

keds_champion is based off of Pam winning the Dundie for having the whitest shoes. She thanks her Keds afterwards!

lesssexthanmiho came from...god, I barely remember, but I do remember Becky riffing on the fact that she was getting laid less than Miho, at one point, and that was sad. Originally, her name was _oh_sugar_, because of her canon line to poor Benicio Del Toro.

scrabblecyborg is from Hannelore's ability to play Scrabble at robot-ability levels. Naturally.

like_a_sponge is from Greg's canon assertion that he absorbs information "Like a sponge!"

imanaturalblond stems from the fact that I am POSITIVE Rita is not.

...I totally feel like I'm missing people.

NPCs!

ahahmvampyar is still maybe my favorite name ever, and it's a riff on Bill's RAYLEE STUH-RONG ACCAYENT. And his dramatic way of speaking.

real_not_real is mostly to make everyone cry, and comes from Peeta's post-hijack where he has to check and see whether things are real or not. He spends the last third of the book asking "Real or not real?" about things because he can't remember what's reality and what's not. And it's HEARTBREAKING.

not_a_tribute is obvious, because Prim is not a tribute...because Katniss is, instead.

loves_yahtzee is because...well, Sophie-Anne has her eccentricities. Including how much she loves Yahtzee.

fairygodcousin is because while Claudine is Sookie's actual biological cousin (though she is all Fae), she's her "fairy godmother."

prince_ofthesky is because Sookie's grandfather...holds that title in Fairyland. I mean, he's not literally, but his peopel hold dominion over the sky as opposed to the water, etc.

big_bad_wolves was the username for werewolf canon fodder, with were_bitch being the only one with her very own username!

And finally, Finnick is secretsandsugar, because he trades in secrets, and tries to bribe Katniss with sugar.

And as far as AU bbs, I'm most proud of likethebookcase, because I am tickled at the idea that Eric would tell Sookie to name their child something Swedish, and she'd opt to go with an Ikea bookcase.

I'm still sure I've forgotten someone.

Current characters

Hanna Marin (new_it_girl) - When one of the other main characters, Aria, returned after being gone for a year, she was shocked at Hanna's new status as the most popular girl at school, leading another character, Emily, to state, "She's the it girl now."

Piper Halliwell (cookinggeek) - Piper likes to cook and is good at it. The name kinda speaks for itself, there. I've been wanting to rename this journal for awhile, but that will have to wait now that LJ is being dumb.

Former characters

Summer Roberts (snarkyprincess) - I combined two aspects of Summer's personality: spoiled princess and snarker. It worked for me!

Lindsay Weir (mathletenomore) - She was once her school's star mathlete, but she quit when she lost interest and wanted to find a new direction in life.

Ellie Bartowski (awesomebigsis) - She's an awesome older sister. True story. Just ask her brother.

Kris Furillo (exconnextdoor) - She was literally the girl next door to her main love interest. She was also an ex con who served time in juvenile detention. Based on a quote from love interest's dad. He didn't like her very much.

Mulan (nodaintyflower) - She wasn't just some meek girly girl. She was smart, tough, and kicked some Hun ass. Based on the Emperor's quote "The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all."

Kaylee Frye 2.0 (enginegirl) - She was a mechanic. I was not creative. So this was the result.

Eli "Weevil" Navarro (dontcallmeeli) - His real name is Eli. He preferred to be called Weevil. Not much more explanation needed.

Rose Tyler 1.0 (aroseintime) - Rose traveled through time at one point in her life.

I also played Toshiko Sato at one point, but I am blanking on what her screen name was. I can't remember vamp verse names either. I fail.

First of all, this guy's name, here, is because I'm Canadian actually a bit of a rearranging of a line of Dean's in canon, not long after a squirrel makes its way up his pant leg and he's forced to unzip in a diner.

"Excuse me! I'd like to apologize to everyone in advance for this."

apocalipped just got himself a shiny now mouth! He also happens to look like Apocalypse. Who has very distinctive lips. And yes, I did sit on that journal for like two years, waiting for the chance to use it. Because I'm a horrible person.

answer2bheard got his name from the lyrics of his theme song. Technically, he's not an answer to be heard, but that was too long for an LJ username, and "question2theworld" was too long, too.

not_a_parakeet is, like, totally not a parakeet. But in the comics, even if my Warren is movie canon, people seem to take great joy calling him a... well... pick a bird name here.

honoraryphd - Doctor Doom's doctorate was given to him by the dictator of Latveria: DOOM.
all4thewookiees - It's why Jolee Bindo spent 20 years screwing around with Czerka employees on Kashyyyk: He did it all for the Wookiees. LIMP BOOMZKIT.
gimmemoreteams - Wolverine is on a hell of a lot of teams! BOOM.
laidanegg - Jingle Bells, Batman smells, Robin laid an egg. Batmobile lost a wheel and Joker got away. BOOM.
iguessiamaclone - Ben Reilly thought he was the real Spider-Man for like a year. He found out that wasn't the case when after being beat up, impaled, and exploded, he actually died from clone degeneration. I brought him back after that. COMICS BOOM.
trustshisbarber - Peter Parker: "You don't trust anyone, that's your problem." J. Jonah Jameson: "I trust my barber." BOOM.
yakkoyaks - It's time for Animaniacs. Dot is cute and Yakko yaks. BOOM.
makesfaces - Jim Halpert had a camera crew following him AND HE ALWAYS MADE FACES AT THE CAMERA. BOOM. *makes face at camera, reacting to the boom*
survivesplague - From the SW books, Kyle Katarn badasses Sithly Jacen Solo in combat. Due to cheating, Jacen wins the fight, then Kyle is drug through sewers in retreat where he gets plague. telekineticfury - That's how he was introduced in the blurb on the first page of every issue of New Warriors. "MARVEL BOY / JUSTICE [delete whichever is inappropriate for the timeframe]: TELEKINETIC FURY!" BOOM.

Seriously, though, he was always a calm, rational guy, except for the one time 20 issues in when he killed his abusive dad in self defense with his powers. But he even willingly served his sentenced time in jail, so THAT NEVER MADE SENSE, FABE.

wrongkindofsith is basically a riff on the number of Jedi in the gme and the fact Cara is not that kind of Sith.

hasadestiny, Lex has a destiny to be Lionel's heir/evil/president/two-headed snake dude/an amnesiac clone/circle as applies (I'm shocked it was actually free tbh). I wanted to use thanrollingstone which was part of a Chloe quote about the number of issues the Luthors have, but too many letters woe.

thefearwasreal is part of a quote about Oz's use of explosives in team-building exercises. "The grenade was fake, but the fear was real."

doubleohblonde, THE NEW BOND HAS THE WRONG HAIR COLOUR, THIS IS THE WORST! THING! EVER!

La, I return late but with less of a stomach ache and more stories!

badnewsandwit... was a rough one to come up with a username for. In the end, it became a mangling of a canon quote Alistair uses about himself: "That's what I'm here for. To deliver unpleasant news and witty one-liners."

I declined of_thewilds's suggestion of 'licks_lampposts.' It looked awkward.

scary_jeff is my first and hence simplest username; in one of the episodes, we learn that Jeff's nickname in high school was 'Scary Jeff', because he kept trying to make his eyes mist over like in romance films by staring at women for too long.

spring_lost - not intentionally mimicking mouthy_merc, but it works. It's a play on one of his last names (Dayspring) and the fact that at the time I apped him, he'd just lost Providence, the island that was supposed to be his new spring, a rebirth for humanity.

swordsandsoccer is a play on 'swords and sorcery', obviously. Though ironically enough, book!Dolf wasn't so into footie - the book came out about two years before the footie craze hit NL. He's a footie player in the movie, though, so I roll with it. And weep about calling it 'soccer'.

on_her_korhal is a reference to the Krezip song 'in her sun' because I liked it at the time - 'you're stupid, and I could cry for you/pathetic, a boring little thing/but worst I'd really like to say that you're standing in her sun.' Kerrigan was part of the Sons of Korhal, and during that part of her canon, men had stood in her way and limited her at every turn. They were standing in her sun - but come infestation, they were about to pay for it.

bitch_prince is the fandom nickname for Arthur, la!

chose_humanity was partially chosen to fit with George's username at the time (wantstobehuman) and based on a Mitchell quote where he argues with... George, I think, and declares that humanity is what he chose.

unborn_renegade was a reference to a couple of things. First, when I brought him in from canon, he was still a wee naive little speed freak from Sandover. He would later go on to be 'reborn' and become an angry freedom fighter - but he had not yet been reborn a renegade. So, unborn renegade.

It's also a reference to a spoiler from the third game I never got around to. As it turns out, Jak's the son of a renegade king, a man who went into the desert and founded his own city and never let the oppressors get him. Which means that he's not from Sandover's time at all - he's from the future. And hadn't been born yet. Unborn renegade. (Jak himself got stolen from his dad when his dad was still in charge of the entire continent, partly because of his eco-channeling abilities, and partly to demoralize his dad. I have no idea why anyone thought that would de-badass Damas (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03x-mlF1v5U&feature=related), though.)

notjustaworm was just a reference to the Earthworm Jim theme song.

But all that came to a crashing end (ha ha ha ha HA)

Um. Clearly he's not JUST a worm.

hasthegirlballs is another mangled canon quote, since any accurate versions of the name were already taken. It's something Doctor Kelso says about Denise: "I like her. She's got girl balls."

justhisblogger - Steven Moffat's Sherlock is chock full of references to how people think Watson and Sherlock are gay, so Watson spends a lot of time fending off accusations. At the same time, Sherlock warmly-for-his-standards says things about Watson like 'I'd be nothing without my blogger'.

A handful of NPC journals...

to_geniuses, Peter's parents' journal. It's a reference to a less than kind quote from the Big Bad of the first two Shadow books, Achilles: "Do we still have time to get this little sucker implanted in somebody? Petra's already pregnant. I hear, so you can't use her. I know! Peter's mother! She always likes to be so helpful, and she's used to giving birth to geniuses. Here, Peter, catch!"

Nice.

arcane_delphi is my account for Petra and Bean, and whatever other Jeesh kids I managed to shove in there. It's a play on their last names - Petra Arkanian, Bean Delphiki. And, y'know, the oracle of Delphi - the two of them tend to know what's going on and what's going to happen later a lot better than everyone else does.

jeeshboys is for Ender, and it's fairly simple. Basically, the nickname 'jeesh', meaning army in Arabic, became a popular one to use for Ender's merry band of warriors, and besides Petra, who already has her own account, they're all boys.

At the same time, Sherlock warmly-for-his-standards says things about Watson like 'I'd be nothing without my blogger'.

Which is also a direct homage to the original!Sherlock quote, "I am lost without my Boswell." Okay, yeah, everyone probably knew that one already, BUT I DUN CARE. THE LINE MADE ME SQUEE AT THE TV, SO HERE I SQUEE NOW.
