Brainstorming for Umbridgeverse!

Who wants to storm some brains? You guys? YOU GUYS!

This is where you can all throw things out there in order to set up a past for your characters in this wild, new frontier.

A few admin positions are set (Peter and Ender Wiggin are part of the organising committee of the resistance, Umbridge with the... well, with Umbridge, Anakin Skywalker is dead, Bo is one of her main leather-clad henchwomen, Deadpool is a slightly less leather-clad henchwoman... Zoe Winchester's in detention...) and there are Umbridge's rules (no co-ed rooms, no public affection, enforced personal space of four inches (NO TOUCHING), random dorm inspections, and there's a curfew) as well as an official Umbridge radio channel (bringing you daily motivational messages as well as information) and an underground paper.

Remember: Magic needs to be kept on the down low unless you're a member of the Umbridge posse! Unsupervised magic is verboden, folks!

Now, get your OCD-laden storm of brains on.

For all that stuff about how Business X is now Business Y, and totally Resistance-friendly, etc etc.

I was thinking that it seems like the Magic Box is now the kind of New Age shop you might find in any college town -- it's all about the zodiac, incense and tapestries, and very little about actual magic.

There are still some things with real power in the building, but they're both cloaked with magic and physically hidden. You have to be fairly powerful in the Resistance to even know they're there, let alone gain access.

That said, I'm open to other suggestions and/or tweaking this idea!

The shop/staff could get shaken down on a regular basis to ensure the uppity muggles and muggle-lovers keep in their place?

"Nice crystals." *crash* "Shame if something happened to the rest of them."

I love it. Go for it.

Dite's Decadent Delight's is now a Lush/Bath & Bodyworks kind of store, with perfumes and candles and things like that. No massage oils, obviously--there is a no-touching rule in place for a reason, omg!

That being said, there's a back room that still supplies condoms and the like to members of the Resistance. Because the no touching rule is stupid, but not as stupid as unsafe sex!

Dite's is also open to goons coming in to goon it up a bit!

Cafe Luke's will still, I think, be Cafe Luke's, just as it is now. Possibly with the inclusion of a secret entrance? At the very least, little people-sized hidey-holes (think Underground Railroad). Vincent himself is sympathetic to the Resistance, and thus would have such things available should someone need to hide out there.

Luke's employees can be loyalists or resistance members, Vincent's not about to fire anybody. If anyone knows their character won't be working/anyone wants to give their character a temp diner job, let me know!

With Chloe not around, the clinic is currently without an owner. I'm fine with it being handwavily NPC run, but if someone wants to have stepped into that roll, let me know!

The Boards is still the Boards, but run by Lady Ghanima and she occupies the apartment above it.

The Boards is now a dance studio, with classes held in the theater, teaching ballet, ballroom styles, historical dance, international folk dances, buyō; anything accessible through Ghanima's ancestral memory is available as a class or private tutoring. Twice a year, students do a recital demonstrating their talents in Minuet, Quadrille, Polonaise, Polka, Waltz, and Foxtrot.

Special rates and sliding pay fees often available for students, especially around times of school dances. Need to get your need for human contact on in a socially-acceptable manner? Sign up for a class with your BFF!

The Boards is resistance-friendly, there are showers in the dressing rooms, and the basement has a few cleverly-hidden access points to the the city's utility tunnels.

Under Coulson's management, Wellspring Arms & Meditation will provide (low-grade) magical weapons to Loyalists, but only if they have written permission from Umbridge or someone else who's very high ranking.

Its real purpose will be to funnel information and the occasional non-magical weapon to the Resistance as Coulson picks those up.

Tp continue with Bruce taking over Zayne's stuff, he will also be the landlord of MCA since he graduated. Officially, this is so he can make sure Umbridge's influence is spread to town homes. Really, of course, it's so he has more autonomy and can move much more freely than if he stayed as a mere recent graduate in the dorms instead of a teacher living in town.

Thanks to a suggestion, the Arms Hotel will become the Umbridge Arms. Management will present a Loyalist appearance but the staff will be aiding Resistance members in finding places to hide.

That seems like a pretty good fit for Jaime. Think he could have a job at the Arms, or are you full-up?

Yay! Thanks! Do we need to worry about schedules or anything? I figure the week is going to be pretty chaotic, so it may not be necessary.

Yeah, it might not be necessary. I'm still trying to figure out how it will all work, though, so I'll let you know if anything changes.
