BDE Finale Brainstorming!

Aloha!

So Saturday night, the resistance will break into detention, and Sunday, the resistance will take on the rest of the school. Somewhere in the confusion during the battle on Sunday, a couple of RNGed folks are going to track down Umbridge and undo what she has wrought, but we have to get there first...

This post is for brainstorming the events of the weekend. We (the admins) don't have a specific plan of exactly who is going to do what - we wanted to let that be figured out by you guys, and by how the events of this week play out. So, this post is to start brainstorming ideas, and planning out the fights. It can also serve as a catch-all post for your thread links of IC planning, so dots can be connected and people can find each other.

Note that RNG signups end this afternoon, so make sure you sign up if you want to be part of taking Umbridge down!

I started out thinking this was a spare part and suddenly it wasn't so spare... So Kitty has the easiest way in and out of detention ever, and she can take multiple people with her when she phases as long as there's physical contact. I'm thinking she could maybe bring some people with her as a quiet way to get the injured/too-traumatized-to-go-in-case-of-a-fight people out before the big stuff starts?

For Saturday's detention: You have an easy way to make an exit from the building. Currently working on plans for Bruce to break his empathic hold from Raven.

I wouldn't mind having this kid get his sneak on for sabotage purposes. Sparkle is all about being sneaky when he wants to, with a lot of experience breaking into things under his belt from well before Fandom. He'd probably insist on having someone come along with him to watch his back while he screws around with things, or even just someone who can point him in the right direction and give him some set idea of what would be most useful for him to poke at or make off with.

I thought maybe some non-fighty resistance types, especially the kind who are pretending to be loyalists, might be able to take up Bullshitting Duty to keep reinforcements away from the wing where detention is located while the earlier stages of the breakout are happening? Like they could position themselves in various strategic hallways and make it difficult or undesirable for loyalists to pass (i.e, they could pretend to be having a really loud and obnoxious argument, or say something about there being some kind of bathroom flooding situation that Fosse's taking care of...)?

Bruce being Bruce, he's going to want to get a plan of his own together while everything else is going on. Since he's a school employee and this area is always a big deal in BDEs, he's going for the library to retake that and get a valuable location (and weapon) out of loyalist hands. I'm thinking Saturday while everything else is going on will be the prime time to go for it and then it would be an Alamo situation through the rest of the weekend, where they have to hold the library.

I'm thinking that a somewhat smaller team would work best, preferably with some fighty, former library aides would be AMAZING, and at worst some people who can just help get it locked down. Obviously, if there are any loyalists who could oppose this group, that would be extra fun.

Detention right now is set up with magic dampeners/removers/whatever, so that people in there can't just melt the walls.

Couldn't we send a team of sneaky non-fighters off to find whatever is controlling the no-magic field, and smash it, which then lets the people in Detention break themselves out?

This also means we'd need to do some research, but that's where the double agents come in, or there could be students who are faux-loyalists who get sent to Umbridge's office in order to scope it for clues -- I dunno, this occurred to me last night as a way to make non-fighters an essential part of the finale.
