It's Marshmallow Roastie Time Again!
Have no fear, the School Board has been informed that they needed to get those bouncy castles out of the campgrounds, because seriously, WTF.
If you think that means they'll be replaced by different bouncy castles, you're one step ahead of your beloved IC administration.
...is the same as it was for the first session: four people to a castle, with bedding, coolers, outdoor electrical hookups and wifi signal provided, with a small campfire for each group.
Running water and restroom/shower facilities (individual shower stalls with curtains) are still located in a central building not far from your camping areas, so campers should be sure to bring their flippity-floppities and bathrobes for any late-night trips.
Campers will move in on Sunday, August 11th and will remain there for two weeks until Monday, August 26th, when everyone will gather up their stuff and return to the good old dorm rooms (or take their newly graduated selves off to the land of adulthood if desired, since that will be breakup-week as well).
Those new grads who are still around for this session will once again have their own area separate from the rest of the student body since none of them have to wake up early for workshops. Unless they're teaching or TAing, and then they can deal.
Teachers and townies will continue to live in their own town residences.
....AHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Maybe? It might even be fun. But EVERYBODY will know you are doing it. Just saying. To avoid facing the discomfort of your camp-mates' players, a little OOC communication about bedtime activities goes a long way.
Other less mentally and spiritually scarring options:
Also, since there's pretty much no privacy in the camping area, please remain aware of the need for OOC warnings if your character is up to something that might be triggery, but also try to set things up ICly so that it's reasonable for camp-mates to be absent or unaware if their players wish them to.
The campground is located in the Preserve and is generally the same in set-up as last year, with the addition of the restroom/shower facilities. It has a kitchen and dining hall, a small outdoor gymnasium, and a main campfire. There are plenty of secluded places for the secretive and romantic types.
The main campfire is free for everyone to enjoy whenever, provided it's not already being used for something else. The school and town are a short hike away (the Preserve is bigger on the inside than it appears on the outside). There is an abandoned shack a short walk away that's great for secret meetings for couples and the shoreline of the island isn't too far away either. There are clearings in the Preserve as well that can be modded as needed.
The gym area is available on site and should be used like the school gym. The kitchen and dining hall are readily available for use as well. The storage locker is for all sporting/workshop/other equipment that you might need.
When it comes to the dorms, it's fine to openly use the first floor and basement facilities as there's hope everyone does laundry at some point. However, the IC administration would be unhappy to hear of students going back to sleep (or do Other Things You Probably Don't Want To Be Public About Anyway) in their rooms on a regular basis, so try to be ICly sneaky about that type of thing. If you want your character to get in trouble for spending too much time in the dorms, OOCly let one of the admins know, and we'll set you up with an appropriate IC principal/VP/dean/security type.
The Danger Shop will still be accessible for workshops and the library will be open at the discretion of the librarian.
Town, of course, is business as usual.
You have the option of being randomly assigned to a bouncy castle on your own or you can sign up with a partner (someone you'd like to share a castle with). Each bounce-house has 4 people in it, so once sign-ups close, pairs will be allocated and then anyone who's a single will be slotted in as well. New graduates will have their own area, so they need to pair up with other graduates. Other than that, you can partner up with whoever you want.
If you want your student/grad character in the campground, please sign up. Yes, we'll match things up and find you a spot if you don't, but please make it easier on everybody and just remember to sign up in the first place.
Using the OCD threads below (there's a separate one for new grads so no one accidentally gets sorted into a group they don't belong in), sign up one of two ways:
* solo: If you want your character to be placed at the full mercy of the RNG.
* in pairs: one person comments to the main thread, and their partner replies to their comment collapsey-style, to verify that they do want to be paired up.
Can't I live with all the same people I lived with last summer?
Nope. You get to pick one person to live with. After that, it's up to the RNG as to who you end up with. Our goal is to have folks end up with a variety of people to play with.
But what if my character ends up in an enclosed space with someone they don't like?
Have fun with it. Conflict is just as much fun to play with as everyone getting along. If it's real problem ICly, then remember it's only for two weeks and it's entirely possible to get through that time without seeing much of your camp-mates, if you're careful. If there are OOC issues, though, talk to us and we'll see what we can work out.
Can we purposefully sign up a pair who don't like each other, and blame a "paperwork mixup"?
Absolutely, as long as you both agree to it.
Are these IC pairs or OOC pairs?
These are IC pairs that will have handwavily been turned in at the office unless you're planning on a paperwork mix-up.
Can we sign up as a threesome not-dirty or possibly dirty?
Nope, pairs only.
Do I have to pair up with my dorm roommate?
Nope!
All of my character's friends have graduated/left/mysteriously disappeared right before one of Dr. Lecter's BBQs, or I'm new so I don't have a partner for them, or I don't want to be with anyone in particular. What do I do?
Sign the character up in the appropriate thread, and just say "RNG me!"
Sign-ups will close at 11:59 pm Pacific time on Friday, August 9. Everyone planning to live in the campground, please remember to sign up before then, so we can start chortling at the RNG at 12:01!

Sexing in the Bouncy Castles
....AHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Maybe? It might even be fun. But EVERYBODY will know you are doing it. Just saying. To avoid facing the discomfort of your camp-mates' players, a little OOC communication about bedtime activities goes a long way.
Other less mentally and spiritually scarring options:
- The dorms (but please don't make a habit of going back there every night)
- The preserve (if you don't mind teal deer watching)
- The woods (if you don't mind bugs watching)
- The abandoned shack (created specifically for things that require privacy)
- Serenity Cove and the beach (yay for sand in uncomfortable places)
Also, since there's pretty much no privacy in the camping area, please remain aware of the need for OOC warnings if your character is up to something that might be triggery, but also try to set things up ICly so that it's reasonable for camp-mates to be absent or unaware if their players wish them to.
General Campground Facilities

What about the dorms/school/town?
When it comes to the dorms, it's fine to openly use the first floor and basement facilities as there's hope everyone does laundry at some point. However, the IC administration would be unhappy to hear of students going back to sleep (or do Other Things You Probably Don't Want To Be Public About Anyway) in their rooms on a regular basis, so try to be ICly sneaky about that type of thing. Town, of course, is business as usual.
What do I post where?
- Workshops, regardless of the location, should be posted in
fandomhigh. - Campfire posts (whether the main campfire or a castle campfire), any other use of the campground, Preserve, or public areas on school grounds should go in
fandomhighdorms. - The bounce houses DO NOT have living rooms. Anything set inside one should go in the personal journal of one of the camp-mates, and those who don't live there should ICly be asking before entering. There aren't any alcoves, so pretty much the smallest area you can limit your post to is the whole structure. If you need a separate area and a camp-mate has already put up a post, that's the time to be sneaking off to the woods/the shack/the dorms/etc.
