Another Friday, another meme. What better way to spend a snow day where I am absolutely not setting foot outside except to clear the five inches of snow off my car? Also I can't find that we've done this one since May of 2016.

Pose a question (or as many as you'd like, and they don't all have to be in one comment, so you can come back later and add more if you want) to your fellow players about the game or their characters, and they will Wall-of-Text if they want to, look, I know how some of you are answer them. They can be personal or silly. You don't have to answer all of them! Nothing counts in game, of course and etc.

Questions might include "Which of your characters are you the most like?", "Which BDE was your favorite?", "What music do you RP to?", etc.

Start easy: Who's your easiest character these days?

That would be this guy! Heck if I know how Kanan manage to take over so thoroughly, but if there's a thread I'd like to throw somebody at, he's almost always the first journal I reach for.

And who's your hardest character?

This guy right here. He's not so bad that I'm outright considering dropping him, but I've grown and learned a lot since playing him the first time around, so I'm always that little bit more worried that I'm hecking something up.

Well, okay, him and Reno. But that's mostly because I always suck at off-island expat characters. I need to come up with a good reason to have Reno visit more often.

Have you had any threads recently that you're particularly proud of?

I don't know if proud is the right word but Sparkle and Sia meeting was a thing I didn't know I needed until I got it.

How do you decide which characters you'd like to app?

[gobrookeyourself]

It used to be that I just waited for a character to jump out at me in something I was reading or watching. Now that I'm actively looking for a student, I tend to watch or read things and go "HOW ABOUT YOU???" at them until I talk myself either into it or out of it.

I basically need to feel excited about the possibility of playing them, thinking about how they'd react to situations, and if that works, then I'm usually good to go for giving them a try.

Has your type changed over the years?

Nope. I'm still a sucker for woobie fighter-types with a tragic past and some manner of military experience. Also powers. Probably a dude. Most likely with some manner of self-destructive tendency that I can have them work through.

I remain predictable.

Which character do you think people associate you with?

Huh. I suppose that would be Kanan, these days. Jono or Sparkle for people who have been around a little longer. Maybe Reno, for the really, really old guard?

Mostly Kanan, though, if only because he is the one I tend to reach for.

Do you still pick birthdays for your characters? How do you come up with them?

[furnaceface]

It's kind of funny, because until Norman, not many of the characters I've apped have really had any need for a birthday. Peridot wouldn't have one, and Kanan likely wouldn't actually know the exact date of his anyway.

This question DID remind me that I need to come up with one for Norman, which I'll probably discern using some combination of divination involving tea leaves, horoscopes, and reading the junior novelization in the hopes that there's something about the date in the intro that talks about when he was born.

Have any of your characters ended up somewhere that surprised you?

I mean, I didn't see most of where Jono ended up coming, honestly. It's an interesting dance, balancing where he went in the game with the new Generation X canon that's been coming out, but it somehow still works?

How do you typically decide what a character's doing once they've left the island but are still active? How do you keep them going?

[furnaceface]

Ooo, that's a tricky one. Generally, if a character has graduated and doesn't have something lined up, they don't stay active. Either there'll be canon, or some other plot with another character, or I've got dastardly plans to bring them back to the island (like, um, MOST of my crew at this point), but if there's nothing obvious for them to do, there's not much point in me keeping them.

Are there any characters you want to play off of but haven't gotten the opportunity?

Have you ever peaced out on either a canon while you were playing, or your PB turned out to be a horrible person? What'd you do about it?

Apparently this girl's twenty-years-older PB is a transphobic ass. I just thumbed my nose and enjoyed the fact she'd probably hate everything I'm doing.

That said, I've been looking for someone else to play an older Jalian for good, though I might just be able to go with her younger PB's older self these days.

Have you ever guessed at something for RP that canon later confirmed? Brag about it.

I felt really bad at the time for Sia's reaction to Atton getting arrested and then that turned out to 110% be the correct reaction as proven by canon.

Anything you have coming up to play that you're looking forward to?

[gobrookeyourself]

I don't have any catchups coming up anytime soon, but I'm kind of really enjoying setting up the Empire in two very different times. Sort of accidentally, Jaina's getting to set up all the stuff that's currently making Sia's life suck. It's really fun for me.

I should get the IKs started this year, too, which I have a vague idea of how to do in my head, but I'm just... so bad at plotting.

How do you do plots these days? Do you plan them in advance, or do them on the fly? Also do you love Gdocs and spreadsheets?

That depends on the plot! I've got a few BDE proposals in the making (god help me) that have a LOT of spreadsheet and gdoc action going on and they might never see the light of day anyway because time/brain/work/whatever.

On the OTHER hand, I've done canon catchups that mostly consisted of me sitting here and transcribing or paraphrasing books or cartoons and then hitting send, before, too. But if other people are involved? Lots of advance planning. Scads of it.

Have you had any character pairings (ships, friends, enemies, whatever) that have surprised you?

I still shake my head at this guy. He and Jono were not supposed to end up together as anything other than friends!

Do you play out dirty scenes, or FTB?

[furnaceface]

That depends on whether the scene has some manner of actual character-development significance going forward, honestly. Writing dirty scenes in general kind of makes me uncomfortable, but if it's got characterization to it or a chance that something neat and new will develop, then I'm on it like candy anyway.

Your characters are all fighting each other. Who wins?

Peter, hands down. He's the most powerful and also has the most actual training in fighting.

That said, Hannibal is smart enough to realize he's outclassed physically and just sneaks off. Hera thinks the whole thing is stupid and leaves.

And Miguel is left going, "Why the hell am I even doing this??"

Your characters are all going on a road trip together. Who's doing what?

Hera drives. Hannibal books the lodgings and food.

Miguel commandeers the radio, because it's something he can control and glare at everybody for if they don't like it.

Peter sleeps in the back and asks to be woken up when they're there.

If you've ever fixed canon, what fix are you most proud of?

Screw you, Chuck Austen. You can make Jono's life hell, but you can never take my Angelo.

Is there anything you want to shake out of your characters, plots or milestones or whatever, that you haven't been able to yet?

[furnaceface]

Kanan... has six years between where he's at now and the next bit of canon that's been explicitly spelled out for us. Somewhere in there, he and Hera have to pick up two more crew members, and I have no idea how to get them there.

But we have time, so I'm not exactly hurrying toward it, either.

How did you pick your PBs?

[furnaceface]

I don't have many PBs, really. Most of my characters are quirky enough visually that I can't really imagine trying. A guy on fire? A little green person with triangle hair? Anybody in the world with a beard as stupid as Kanan's?

Sparkle and Norman needed PBs, though. Sparkle because he's from a play, his source material has no visual accompaniment to go with it. Norman because in canon, he's eleven. For both of them, I knew I wanted an actor- someone with a good range of emotion, who'll probably continue to have source material once they get older. For Sparkle it was basically just a matter of finding someone who fit, and Lou Taylor Pucci, particularly in that one Green Day video, was perfect.

For Norman, I wanted a guy who looked kind of awkward, with dark hair and sticky-outy ears, because he had to match an already visualized character.

Are there any old plots you wish you could go back and redo for some reason?

Have you had a moment where a character really clicked with you?

I think I apped Rey too early, and so she was really hard for me to get out and I was planning on dropping her but not until I saw The Last Jedi. Then I decided to give her one more shot and try to get her out more, and I randomly threw her at Kanan and all of a sudden went "THIS IS WHAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING WITH HER THE WHOLE TIME."

Do you have playlists or songs for your characters?

Not usually, though I could absolutely make one for Jaina. She's the one where I hear songs that fit.
