It's the first of the month and I'm going to be too busy at work to do much today, so I'm not above trying to get y'all to leave interesting things in my inbox to at least help keep me from going out of my mind. Especially since I've forgotten what day it is and fallen for two stupid prank articles already, and I'm not even out of my pajamas yet.

Therefore, a meme that we apparently haven't done since last October!

Pose a question (or as many as you'd like, and they don't all have to be in one comment, so you can come back later and add more if you want) to your fellow players about the game or their characters, and they will Wall-of-Text if they want to look, I know how some of you are answer them. They can be personal or silly. You don't have to answer all of them! Nothing counts in game, of course and etc.

Questions might include "Which of your characters are you the most like?", "Which BDE was your favorite?", "What music do you RP to?", etc.

Are there any characters you've really wanted to app, but ultimately decided against? Who and why?

I STILL have an app for Wirt from Over the Garden Wall sitting in the wings that'll probably never get sent in, mostly because I don't know if I can play someone quite so whiny. But I bet you around October when I do my annual OTGW rewatch I'll feel differently again.

For here, Jack. I have a hard time getting Hernando out and about but I'm also strangely content to have him run his shop and hang out with the few people he hangs out with. Jack? Jack wants to be up in everybody's business and she doesn't need an excuse. She'll just rock on up and talk.

It won't necessarily be nice talk but she doesn't care and that's a little delightful.

And the flipside, of all the characters you've ever played, which one was the hardest?

Seriously, Sweet Dee, I had so many brilliant ideas for you, but then you just had to be a big dumb bird about it and be surprisingly difficult to actually play.

I'm so disappointed, but I can't even be that mad, because I feel that's just incredibly true to the character.

Are there any random events that you've been wanting to see for a while? Anything totally new that you've been chewing on?

Hi, my name is Sam and I post to the Plottery Post just about every month because I'm a monster.

The problem for me is that I don't know what's 'totally new'. This game is over a decade old and I've been here.. six months? There's no list of these things.

But that leads to the one thing I keep chewing on: Having Hernando compile an IC list of historical events - the BDEs that have happened in the past, how they were resolved if they were resolved, maybe a list of who was in them so far as it can be known. It would be a nice IC and OOC reference.

Do you find yourself leaning toward a certain type of character? What do you think it is about that character type that appeals to you?

Some of my characters lately have been ones that a lot of people don't get along with, Seivarden being the extreme example, and I'm having so much fun with that, even if I occasionally worry that I overdo it.

I've been trying to figure out why, and I think it's just the psychology behind it. But I'm not sure.

Any characters you used to play that you'd be tempted to bring back? Either to continue their story or as a total do-over?

I would be lying if I said I haven't spent the last five or six years tempted to do a serious take on Macbeth. Or a total do-over on Valentine, because he was a Very Important Man and I enjoyed him muchly. Or have a go at the comics version of Warren Worthington III, because man, wouldn't that be a trip.

... Or just bring back Warren Peace as a continuation of his story, because that firebug still chews at my brain sometimes.

Oh jeezy, that'll be a hard thing to narrow down.

I mean, there was that time that Macbeth (and Bridge and Hamlet) all got stuffed into barrels by the Lucky Charms leprechaun. That's probably up there.

If you could retcon one thing you've done in game, what would it be and why would you retcon it?

I would never actually retcon Valentine's run, because it was *perfection* and wrapped up so tidily back when that I would be a monster to change it.

But goddammit I wish I hadn't wrapped it up so tidily, because now I can never bring him back unless I go with a total do-over, and he's the one character who keeps chewing incessantly at the corners of my head for a re-app.

He was a very important man, you know. He had a tower.

Yes I am still pining after a character who was here for like a hot second a decade ago. But he was so good though, and I enjoyed him immensely for the short while we had him.

Sooooooo last year, Peridot and Jaylah stole The Fish and modded it, totally on a whim. It became the running gag for the summer that people would just do horrible fish mutilations because, look, fish be creepy.

I DID NOT ANTICIPATE THAT THE BDE WOULD THEN INVOLVE A FLYING SENTIENT RAGING SELF-HEALING MURDER FISH.

Have any of your characters really surprised you in some way?

The fact that I am still playing Sparkle after all this time, and he still seems to have a path in life and is consistently fun to play is still a surprise. I wasn't expecting him to last long, partly because he's from such an obscure canon and partly because he was just so prone to knocking heads with people, and now my little disaster is all grown up and wants kids someday.

I'm baffled.

Have there been any threads or plots recently that you're proud of?

Yeah, last week's gym post with Beau and Seivarden actually made me really, really happy because Beau has inclinations toward A) being an absolute fuckwad and B) compulsive lying that I don't get to unleash quite that often, but man, did I ever get to unload them that time. The fact that I got to have her do so with the motivation of trying to help out a friend made it even better.

Jono's struggling right now, but I'm hanging in there.

Sparkle's really the big one, though. He's danced up to the edge and back again so many times I don't know why I bother worrying when he's standing over the cliff.

Any personal quirks you have while playing/figuring out backstory/setting up journals want to share?

Sparkle still has no last name, after like a billion years, which is interesting to me. Likewise Reno, whose real name was never given.

Names are a thing, I guess? I would sooner just wave my hands and go, "it totally exiiiists" than try to fill in that blank in canon by making one up... even though Sparkle's never going to get new canon. I'd sooner justify it with him going, "that man doesn't get the satisfaction of me using his name."

I'll fill in other gaping holes, sure, but names are too personal, I guess.

What's your biggest jossing?

I am going to forever be salty about how Square-Enix keeps re-writing and re-releasing newer canon for FFVII. That they put out Advent Children Complete like a year after Reno's Advent Children plot? Aaaaaaaah.

I think there's a reason I just go, "eh, Final Fantasy canon is a suggestion at this point anyway," at this point. THEY'RE RE-MAKING THE MAIN GAME NOW. WHO KNOWS WHAT LIES IN STORE.

How do you come up with your usernames? Is there one you're particularly fond of?

I am most proud of Astrid's username, for being the ultimate example of creativity and originality.

No, but seriously, my favorite usernames are ones I can pull from actual quotes, like Summer's and Rosa's, but also Amaya's gives me warm canon fuzzies so it will always be my favorite.

I kind of love that Keyleth here ended up being friends with both Norman and Trevor, because broody guys with some death or demon related theme going on is SO ON BRAND for her and it wasn't even intentional.
