I was already bored during a weirdly slow week at work, and then I accidentally typed a posting date as "10/10/8120" which for those keeping track is six thousand years in the future, and now I've screwed myself into a lot of time spent on hold to fix it.

Look, if you're gonna mess up, do it by a few millennia.

Pose a question (or as many as you'd like, and they don't all have to be in one comment, so you can come back later and add more if you want) to your fellow players about the game or their characters, and they will Wall-of-Text if they want to, look, I know how some of you are answer them. Got anything coming up for your characters that you're looking forward to?

Blessed nothingness for a while after months of drama and plottiness. Right now I'm looking forward to sitting back and watching the chips fall back after being shaken so vigorously.

What's been your favorite plot that you've run?

I haven't run a ton of plots because I don't have the attention span, but pretty much all of Kate's canon catch-ups through seasons two and three of USoT count for this. I loved Bod's heavy involvement throughout all of it (including the plot-mandated breakup which tore my heart to pieces) and Luke Castellan being involved in some key moments of the Bryce plot was a gem.

Who was your first character at FH?

Do you have any stories of when you realized your character had a thing for someone?

I might come back to this space with more detail later, but I feel like Boys in Bed Sharing Their Feelings (Quietly) And Having Epiphanies is basically the subgenre of romance in which my characters tend to live.

Though a recent fave is the scene where Dante dragged Anders out just to hang out, as a distraction, and wound up randomly protective of him to the point that Anders was like "...Do you have feelings?".

Dante: Nah, of course not, we're just chilling.
Dante's inner monologue, an hour later: ... fuck do I have feelings?

Are there any random events you'd love to put any characters through?

Do you read/use supplemental canon, or do you stick to the main stuff?

With Fjord, I am-- there's a companion show to Critical Role called Talks Machina, which is just the players talking about the episodes that have come before, and some tidbits have been dropped there that haven't made it into gameplay yet.

For the rest, eh, so-so. You kind of have to with Star Wars, since it's all tied in together. And I've used a few AU books for Jono's power-set, at least partly because they were presented as canon at the time.

Are there any characters you're thinking of apping that you want to share?

I wasn't really thinking about Jack because she's a very difficult character. Now I'm actively writing the app because she did PW and that didn't go at all to spec but showed how she could fit in here.

Have I said how much I hate multi-threading? I hate multi-threading.

Jack is just too fun and I need to make Kaidan's life more hell with her.

I'm also poking at an Imriel app because I think he'd be fun but that is really hard to write considering I want to avoid most of his canon and yet have him be an adult. Not avoiding because the writing was bad but because I find much of it to be triggery for me and would rather avoid.

If you turn your characters into animals, how did you decide what they'd be?

I like annoying my characters, so they get what'll bug them. My harasses end up as kittens, Sabine would love being a bird but I have to make her cute and tiny so she'll hate me.

And Rey had to be a Ray because I don't know how a girl who never left the desert knew how to swim in TLJ so I had to make it make sense in my head. So she picked up a skill while I was at SDCC.

Are there any dropped characters you wish you could bring back, or get a redo on?

I was just thinking about this the other week, and, THE SPIRIT, OH MY GOD. And then literally two days later I found the movie at a thriftstore for like 30 cents, so, yeah. I'm hoping to one day maybe do a redo of one of his summer workshops or something. He's a hard one for me to pull off but I think I would like another go at it.

Have you done anything with your characters that you're particularly proud of?

EVERYTHING WITH THIS GIRL RIGHT HERE. I put her high school self together from a handful of pages of college-aged, pre-Envy Natalie, and somehow managed to take her from there all the way to canon and through it in a way that - at least to me! - has felt natural.

And complete with fun detours into a wholly different canon, to boot.

Do you tend to look toward characters with or without powers more? Why or why not?

I do pretty poorly with characters that are completely unpowered or uncombat-skilled. I don't know why; I guess I just like playing with what powers and skills mean and how they factor into characters' lives.

Do you have any writing quirks/tells?

I want to say no but the number of times my anonyfic has been handed back to me with "I know this is yours, more please!" means the answer is probably yes. I'm not certain if it's my style of writing or the horrible messes I will let the characters make and then find ways for them to get out of.

How do you approach sexuality with your characters? Do you stick strictly to canon, or take other things into account, or just see what happens?

[rebelseekspizza]

It depends. I'm generally more free with canonically straight characters in terms of making them at least a little bi, but frankly, at the end of the day that tends to be a case of chemistry. Some of my straight-as-fuck characters are never going to have that kind of chemistry with someone their own gender, and I'm not going to shove them off that cliff just because I feel more at ease playing queer characters. (See Edward, for instance.)

And then there's the canonically-straight characters where I also have OOC reasons to bend things a bit: Ender's written by a virulent anti-gay author, but he's coded so obviously queer in the books, it felt strange for him to be anything but gay. Or Dante, who caused a whole to-do when one comment from the promo material for his game was interpreted as 'DOES THAT MEAN HE'S GAY', and the company's party line was '... no, but now we regret not making him gay'. (Never mind that all versions of Dante are just a little bit camp... anyway, at the end of the day, it made much more sense instinctively to push him towards 3 on the Kinsey scale.)

But honestly, these days there's also more openly queer characters in various canons, and I'm trying to drift towards them a bit. (And I'd never change the sexuality of a gay or bi character because um.)

Have any of your characters really surprised you with things they did or where they e fed up?

Every time Kanan and Hernando get into an awful trainwreck of a conversation. I swear I'm not doing this on purpose just to create a wreck. These two seem to be oil and water every time they talk.

Is there anything in particular you need/want to shake out of your characters that you haven't yet?

I really need to at least get Sabine talking some more about her time at the Imperial Academy since that's like the only bit of background we get for her in season one, but she doesn't wanna.

Do you prefer open or closed canons?

Closed. Then they can't bite me later.

Here's a weird one: if you could hook up any of your characters, past or present, with each other, who would they be?

Izzy and Ezra trying to out-flirt each other would've been hilarious. Also, Envy and Jackson as adults would've made a ton of sense, unlike their high school counterparts.

And Mike with an adult Kate would be super good because they're both human disasters who really, at their core level, just want to be loved and supported.

... I think that might actually be Atton at this point, wow. Or Ender, if we're going with alums too.

Are there any characters you want to play but know for sure that you can't?

Baphomet from The Wicked + The Divine. At least until his canon ends and we really know what's what with him and the others.

It's a tricky canon that would've already jossed me a lot if I'd apped him when I first had the urge, and also while I think I could do him justice in every other way, I don't know if I can come up with puns as bad as the ones he loves to come out with.

Have you ever almost dropped a character and had them make a comeback?

I swear every time Atton slumps on me, suddenly something happens and I'm playing him all over again.

Are there any parts of canon/things about your character you absolutely don't want to touch?

Lito/Hernando reconciliation. Not happening. I have FEELINGS about how that was written and the abruptness of it. Apologies to any shippers, if Lito ever shows up in game it will be purely for my personal satisfaction of writing a huge 'f-off' scene. Since that's pretty petty I have no plans to do it. Lito can stay in Mexico and whine to Dani. Hernando can stay here and flirt with Sparkle and give everyone cavities.

Is there anything from the past that you cringe at now? (Yes you can just answer "the Wild West days.")

Once upon a time (like, not that long ago actually, but pre-DW days at least), MP ran stats on the early days of the game and it turned out that Nadia had commented more than any other character in all three main game comms. By, like, fifty percent.

And like half of what she did makes me wince, so . . . yeah.

How do you handle pets? Do you like them? How do you go about choosing them?

I often find them a bit of a hassle (you always have to think about Where The Pets Are at any one point) but they're also useful characterisation tools sometimes.

Dante and his cats being a prime point. Back when he was still an unattached ne'er-do-well quietly dealing with his missing memories and his various issues while sleeping around the island, he befriended a feral cat and they would just hang out.

Then after he and Anders got together, one of the first serious things they did together was pick out an adorable, prissy little cat. It wasn't even consciously decided on as a Symbolic Moment, but it kind of is, in retrospect. It fits better with who he is now.
