meme: more than meets the eye
It's a slow work day and I've spent the last like hour and a half trying to decide between memes and here's one we haven't done since last September that might be helpful for people, and new characters can ping in too!
There are certain characteristics about the people we play that *we* know, but we get tired of repeating in every introductory ping. There's also stuff that players wouldn't really be able to figure out just looking at an icon--how tall someone is, if they have an accent, what kind of clothes they are wearing...and in some cases, if their eyes/hair/whatever are different than the PB we've picked.
So wax poetic about what your characters look/sound like, if they have tics or scars, if they have a distinct singing voice, etc!

Sabine Wren
-Very colorful and definitely stands out.
-Her hair is always short (easier with a helmet), and naturally dark brown but she dyes it pretty frequently. Currently it's light blue but it'll change this week. I try to put her current look in her profile, and if you need to know her hair color for some reason you can see the latest "hair stuff" tag in her journal.
-Would easily pass for an Asian-American girl from Earth.
-Wears a little bit of makeup, but keeps it pretty neutral.
-Is probably about average height for her age and will grow some. Also built like a stick figure. There's nothing to her.
-Unless otherwise stated, is always wearing her armor minus the helmet. I'll also say when she's carrying it around.
-Her armor is 500 years old and is heavily modified, so it's not a big clunky suit. She kept the collar armor, breastplate, ankle plates, and knee, elbow and shoulder pads. They attach to a black body glove that she wears with pants.
-Her armor also gets painted fairly often and will be updated this week. She's also got an orange starbird on the breastplate that's always there.
-Also wears black boots and gloves that are covered in paint splatter.
-Is wearing weapons anywhere she is allowed to wear weapons. She carries two blaster pistols in a holster and they are also painted.
-Also probably has some kind of explosive on her, though at school be in the dorms it's something non-destructive, like paint or glitter.
-Also has something to paint with on her person at all times.
-Her body language is that of someone who's deliberately closing people off. She rarely shows her teeth when she smiles and she crosses her arms a lot.
-If she's on the mainland, she will leave her armor behind in favor of clothing that will blend in. Well, mostly- it's all still pretty colorful.
Jaye Tyler
-Long, straight brown hair down the middle of her back, more often than not worn down.
-Really blue eyes.
-While she often looks bored, she has one of the most expressive faces ever. You can look at her face and know exactly what she's thinking.
-5'3". (This is the first time I've ever not messaged Kry to check on the answer to this.)
-Unless otherwise stated, has her purse with her. It's a large one, in which she carries an orange smoosh-faced wax lion.
-Is not the world's best dresser. Her style is not like most people's. Her coats are big and possibly furry, she wears colored tights, some shirts have weird cutouts...
-Because this came up once forever ago, she actually does wear things like skirts.
-Possibly overaccessorizes. She's usually wearing several necklaces at once, for instance. She still wears her Seahorse necklace sometimes.

So. I picked Josh Hutcherson as Barry's PB as his hair in most pictures and his nose was pretty close to Barry's in the comics. Considering the comic takes place when Barry is 10-11, I felt comfortable with the fit of Josh as an older Barry. Also Josh is remarkably good showing frustrated and irritated facial expressions which is a must when playing Barry.
Barry's hair is usually lighter in the comics but I think Josh looks horrible with blonde hair so I'm okay with the change. Josh in real life is pretty short (5'7") and I'd say Barry is a just an inch or two taller than that. Most of the other kids in the comics were all taller than Barry so that just makes sense to me.
Duke Crocker
- 34 years old
- Tall (6'2") with a slim build and fairly broad shoulders
- longish hair that has a tendency to hang in his face, even when he's got it in a ponytail
- when it's in a ponytail, you can see grey at his temples and in his sideburns (visible in a couple icons), leftover from his brush with being aged to death
- has a chin-beard and a mustache (which are definitely visible in all his icons), both with a couple flecks of silver in them, too
- has dark, dark brown eyes
- that turn BRIGHT FREAKING SILVER when his trouble goes off
- 99.9% of the time, he's wearing either a button down shirt or a henley, unbuttoned to halfway down his breastbone, and an undershirt
- also multiple necklaces, one of which is a large whistle (the long, narrow kind, not the high school gym coach kind)
- if it's at all cold, he's also quite possibly wearing a shapeless cardigan
- in the winter, he'll add a puffy vest or a sheepskin lined denim jacket to that
- none of his pants come all the way to his ankles
- he's usually wearing boat shoes with no socks, or boots that come up high enough that you can't tell if he's wearing socks or not
- Seriously, dude's got a very specific, very strange fashion sense
- the pants thing is mostly because living on a boat means trying to avoid getting your cuffs wet, though
- TATTOOS! He has four that are regularly visible:
- one on his left shoulder, which is some sort of circular, vaguely Asian . . . thing
- a text-based one on the inside of his upper left arm that says . . . something about taking the less traveled path or something, I'm having no success in looking up the exact verbiage right now. It's hard to read anyway
- a filigreed skull covered in butterflies on the opposite shoulder cap
- you can actually watch his actor get that one on youtube
- which is kinda weird but okay
- it was an episode of one of those tattooing shows
- with Kat von D
- I am really really digressing here
- a minimalist, vaguely tribal shark on the inside of his right forearm
- this is the only one I've added so far
- but there will totally be more!
- we see MOST of Duke through season one (they like giving him nude scenes) so unless he's got one on his ass (which is entirely likely), that covers it for tattoos
- says almost everything with in a dry, ironic sort of tone
- has a somewhat husky voice
- though not nearly as husky as it gets by season five holy crap someone give him a lozenge
- has a very nice -- if fairly husky -- singing voice
- the actor's the front man for a band that can't decide on a name, but I kind of hate their music so I'm always going to link to that one song from RENT as the go-to "here's Duke's singing voice" reference
- is VERY physically expressive when he talks
- I mean all the gestures
- I try to cover this at least a little in pings but there's no way I could get it all in
- Just -- if his mouth is open, his hands are moving
- his mouth is usually open, even when he's NOT speaking. Dude's kind of a mouthbreather
- smiles when he's freaking out
- like, you can probably gauge his mental state by how hard he's instinctively covering and showing his teeth
- again, I try to cover this in pings, but it doesn't always work
I thiiiink that's everything? Yeah, that probably covers it. Also, I'm very impressed with myself for getting all the bullet levels coded properly on the first try! (So naturally I had to edit the comment to put his name in the subject >.<)Also, sorry-not-sorry I wrote a book. :P
Kitty Pryde-Barton
-Brown hair, which is naturally pretty curly. She straightens it when she can because it's easier to manage all day that way, and usually wears it down or in a ponytail.
-Brown/hazel eyes. They're described in stuff as hazel but usually colored as brown and the PB has hazel eyes so it's one of the two.
-5'6", with a dancer's build and unlike a lot of comics characters from the 80's, actually has a normally-proportioned body. She's probably also that bitch who had a baby and lost most of the weight right away.
-Is nearsighted and wears glasses sometimes, for reading and detail work mostly.
-She's from Chicago but has lived in other places for years, so if she has an accent at all it probably shows up in flat vowels here and there.
-Her natural state is intangible, and she's solid basically through sheer force of will. My personal rule is, if you're trying to hurt her, she's probably not getting hit (tbh it's funnier), but if you're not, it's fine to touch her. She doesn't appear any different between the two states.
-Kitty's a pretty casual dresser, big on jeans and t-shirts. Xplain the X-Men said she seemed like that kid who was way into fashion and then grew up and just wore sweats all the time because she couldn't be bothered and that seems about right.
-When she really tries to put together an outfit it might be a bit of a disaster.
-Sometimes wears a Star of David necklace.
-Used to have both a navel ring and a few piercings in each ear, but those got healed up after dying and being made whole again. Now she's got two holes in each ear.
-Wears her wedding and engagement rings on her left hand.
John Silver
- Missing left leg below the knee. He uses a crutch to get around and he will always have his pant leg tied around the stump
- On the rare instance you do see the stump it looks like a complete hack job between the axe that broke it in the first place, the rush job Howell did cutting it off, the amateur soldering job and the stitches that got infected. At least the infection is gone now that he isn't using an iron boot to get around anymore -- at some point he will lose more of the leg if you go by Treasure Island
- Has long, curly black hair that no comb has survived. It is usually held up in a ponytail or a half-up/half-down type of thing
- Pretty blue eyes that are romanticized about in fanfic a lot
- Is about 5'9"-5'10"
- Wears an obscene amount of rings, necklaces, bracelets at any given moment. No tattoos or earrings yet though!
- Dresses like a pirate. Lots of leather, flowy shirts and boot(s)
- Underneath said pirate clothes he's ripped as hell though *points at icon*
- British accent
that might slip into Australian 'cause the actor is Australian- The tannest pirate on the Walrus
Lucifer Morningstar
- is pretty much always wearing an expensive suit (no ties) with a matching pocket square, unless otherwise indicated by the narrative.
- 'reflects humans' desires back at them', per very recent canon, which mostly just means 'people are more than usually inclined to think he's attractive' on top of, y'know, Tom Ellis's general pre-existing level of attractive.
- does not always wear eyeliner, but definitely wears it a lot of the time.
- has a manic quality to him a lot of the time, unless he's being openly sarcastic or vulnerable.
- has a nice, smooth baritone when he sings.
- if he's especially angry about something, his eyes can flash red, and if he goes full devil-face, he suddenly looks a lot more like the devil from the picture books.
- is also an angel and has his beautiful, elaborate white wings hidden all of the time. He's scared to look. Because angels 'self-actualize', when he falls headfirst into self-hatred, they start looking like demon wings.
- sounds extremely British, because in the actor's words, people let you get away with anything when you say it in a British accent.
- is a celestial being, so if that's something you can notice, you can, well, notice.
- can and will touch things. A lot. Dirty and not dirty.
- canonically speaks every human language in history
- wears a ring with a black stone on his right hand that we finally got backstory for recently but that I will never reference IG unless I absolutely have to on account of having a weird jewelry squick. It was originally taken from the Garden of Eden.

Re: Lucifer Morningstar
Re: Lucifer Morningstar
Rey
-She's spent most of her life in the sun but with mostly appropriate protection, so she's tan with freckles over her face.
-5'7" and thin and wiry. There's not a lot to her but she's also spent most of her life lifting ship parts so she's deceptively strong.
-She's also very active and moves easily, with a habit of literally popping back up if she gets knocked down. Will absolutely scale anything at a moment's notice.
-Will still do her hair up in three buns at the back of her head, but right now she's just as likely to wear it half down. As she's getting more comfortable, you miiiiiight see her with it down once in a great while.
Hi I have opinions about the use of her hair.-Is ambidextrous. She's left-handed but can fight and shoot with her right hand just as easily.
-Tends towards neutral colors and practical, comfortable clothing for the setting. If it's cooler you're seeing her in something more like her Ahch-To outfit, if it's warmer then it's more like the throne room outfit. There's a real Jedi influence on her clothes at this point.
-Tends to wear wrappings to cover her arms, or at least a leather cuff on her upper arm to cover a horizontal scar.
-Often carries a staff on her back if she thinks she'll need it. If there's a fight, she absolutely has it.
-Does have a lightsaber, which she wears on her belt unless otherwise specified.
-Sounds incredibly British. (Is, of course, not.)
Janet Kim
-Korean-Canadian.
-Mostly doesn't have an accent but eeeevery once in a while you'll hear it on certain words, like "sorry."
-A super tiny person.
-Dark hair, just below shoulder-length, and you'll see her wear it down just as much as up.
-Has a sort of casual trendy style, with a lot of cute dresses and jackets, but she doesn't look like she tried too hard.
Jesse Faden
- is 1.7 meters or 5'7'' tall, redheaded and blue-eyed. She usually wears her hair in a ponytail.
- her style is thrift store tough, and she wears her blue leather jacket over basically everything. Sensible stuff like tank-tops and loose jeans that don't inhibit her movement.
- always wears the Service Weapon on her belt. It looks almost, but not entirely, exactly like a gun, or maybe like a kid assembled a toy gun from his blocks and someone then painted it in gunmetal grey. It has multiple functions, and if you're (un)lucky enough to see it in action, you can see the blocks moving around as Jesse switches it from one function to another.
- she has a psychic creature in her mind called Polaris. Polaris is described as being a resonance, and is visualized as a spiraling, glittering light, like someone shining a light on the inside of a diamond. You can pick up Polaris if you're sensitive to that kind of thing; she also keeps Jesse safe from low-to-mid-level attempts at mind control.
- has your generic Midwestern-to-neutral accent, hailing from rural Wisconsin as she does.
no subject
- Because I don't think a freshman can mentally handle "saving the multi-verse" let alone a middle-schooler.
- Is short. About 5'8". Apparently I have a thing for short characters.
- His hair is like it is in the icons but I love that hair and I hope it doesn't change in the sequel
- Is thin, wiry and looks like a stiff wind could blow him over.
- Unless noted otherwise, he'll probably be in jeans, t-shirt and a hoodie. - Some of his icons have him in a school uniform but he won't be wearing that at all.
- Considering he's an art and street art guy, his hands probably have an ink stain or two. His clothes will probably have speckles of spray paint on them.
- Eventually when he gets his powers and his costume, he'll be wearing a version of the traditional Peter Parker outfit that he spray painted black and red.
- Miles voice sounds exactly how Shameik Moore did it in the movies. I think it's the best portrayal of an animated voiced character ever. However, I'm biased as I've probably watched the movie over 150 times since the pandemic started.
Maeve Wiley
-British accent.
-Gives off a general defensive "I hate you and I hate your mom" vibe even if you've never talked to her.
-Yes, yes, she looks like Harley Quinn right now. Her natural brown hair is bleached blonde and the ends are dyed pink. As the year goes on you're going to see more dark roots that she won't bother to cover.
-Brown eyes.
-Has a nose ring. It's concerningly large.
-A lot of eyeliner.
-So much jewelry. Usually a lot of bracelets and layered necklaces.
-Bites her nails as a compulsive nervous habit, so while her nails are almost always painted they're also usually chipped.
-Has a goth/grunge thing going on. She wears a lot of black, short skirts with fishnets, and the occasional flannel. She'll also be seen a lot either in a black leather jacket or a fringed suede-looking one.
-Has three tattoos that I've found, all on her fingers: three black horizontal lines on one middle finger and a heart on her index finger, and a vertical line down the middle finger on her other hand.
Mae Borowski
Alexis Rose
-5'7" and actually pretty athletic. She runs and tries to stay in shape.
-Blonde hair around the middle of her back, and she's always very coiffed. If she brushes her hair back, she does it with her open palm in a way that looks like she's not actually touching said hair.
-Has a tattoo on her lower back that says "that's hot" in Cantonese. She got it when she was 12.
-Tends to end her sentences with a lilt a lot and has a very affected vocal fry. You can hear what she sounds like here.
-She also has a habit of holding her arms like she's carrying a handbag in the crook of her elbow. Her actress describes it as "a T-Rex playing the piano at an old timey saloon." You can see that here.
-Most expressive face I've ever seen. She makes faces and scrunches up her features and says more with headtilts and squints than I can ever get across.
-Everything she's wearing might cost more than your rent. Her jewelry is all real, her clothes are all designer, and she tends towards a bohemian look normally, with a lot of white. Sienna Miller was the inspiration for her style.
-Also a lot of hats.
Yasha Nydoorin
- Really really pale, yes.
- Her right eye is greenish-blue, and her left eye is violet.
- There's a thin black vertical line running down her chin from the bottom of her lower lip, which is tattooed on. (The line. The line is a tattoo. Not her lip.)
- She has this whole super-heavy black eyeshadow/facepaint situation going on around her eyes.
- Her hair goes down to about mid-back or so. It's black, for the most part, but starts to get lighter toward the ends so that it fades into the white tips.
- Said hair is also a mess of braids and rattails and has little blue ribbons and beads worked into it in places.
- Always wears a tattered shawl with a dark blue fur around the shoulders. Refuses to take it off. Possibly for character reasons that have yet to be disclosed.
- Wears a bracer with visible cloth wrappings beneath it on her right forearm, and a grey elbow length glove on her left hand.
- Also wears beat up grey leathers and has the shield and crossed lightning bolts symbol of her god, Kord the Stormlord, attached to her belt.
- On the very rare occasions that she busts out her Necrotic Shroud: a very large pair of skeletal black, bat-like wings with what looks like tattered membranes emerges from her back. (See icon!) Should you be within 5 feet of her when they appear, there's a chance you may be terrified of Yasha for the next minute.
- Has five evenly spaced piercings in her ears, four hoops along the cartilage and a short dangling chain in the lobe.
- She is very, very soft-spoken most of the time. Like, it's actually jarring how this soft gentle voice is coming out of Tall Buff Goth Lady. Also she has a very very light Scandinavian accent.
- Always has her giant-ass claymore style greatsword, the Magician's Judge, sheathed across her back. It's almost as tall as she is so it's a little hard to miss.
- ... Yasha in general is kind of hard to miss, with her whole gloriously extra af aesthetic. (God, thank you for that, Ashley.)
no subject
- Chronologically eight, but looks/acts like someone in their mid to late 20s.
- Dark blond hair that naturally has a bit of a curl, but he usually styles it to be sticking up.
- Grey eyes.
- At 6’2”, is pretty tall. Especially compared to his tiny, tiny wife.
- Has a fairly deep voice with an eastern US accent. Does tend to pronounce those initial h’s as y’s.
- Has a fashion sense that is described in canon as “casual yet expensively formal” whatever the hell that means. So... jeans and long-sleeve button-ups but like... designer ones.
- Also generally wears black 90% of the time. Has a smattering of shirts in other colours, most of which are still dark.
- Has triangular marks on his palms that look like burn scars. They aren’t. Typically a light red, but can be darker, which I try to mention when that’s the case. Also emit pinkish-purple swirls of energy... which would definitely be mentioned.
- Is not entirely corporeal, so if your character can sense things like psychic energy, he might ping weird.
- The engagement ring has been replaced by a wedding ring on his finger, but he typically wears the engagement ring on a chain around his neck.
- Sometimes wears a pair of black fingerless gloves. Usually paired with a black turtleneck, it’s very much his “everyday armour”, when he’s feeling particularly don’t-touch-me.
- His phone is actually a device called a Global which is very distinctive-looking, the screen is made of a flexible material that collapses inwards when it’s closed.
- Has a number of scars, the most notable one is a circular dime-sized scar on his abdomen. But there’s also burn scars from electrocution on his back and claw marks over one of his pecs, of all places. All of which would really only be noticeable when shirtless.
- Carries a number of weapons on his person, mostly concealed, but always has his beam pistol (looks more or less an ordinary handgun, but shoots energy blasts) on him unless otherwise noted.
- Was born with the genetic memories of all three (yes three) of his biological parents. Occasionally when recalling one of these memories (either on purpose or triggered in some way), his face will go blank and his eyes vague and distant.
- Is played by a white actor despite being one-third Filipino which I always thought was kind of a weird choice but alien DNA I guess.
no subject
- She is 17 turning 18 in October. If she remembers it's her real birthday.
- The shortest of my characters at 5'1"
- Typically wears t-shirts and jeans unless she's out to impress someone
- Hair is a dirty blonde which reaches just above her shoulders
- Blue eyes
- A very expressive face especially when something weird just happened.
- Sounds exactly like Kristen Bell with your typical mid-western accent.
- While Kristen Bell has a lovely singing voice, I'm saying Eleanor does not. Or at least not when it comes to Bon Jovi.
- Would die on the spot if someone complimented her to her face
- And I pretty much put this in every ping: She is obsessed with shrimp.
- Does eat gross foods. I figure if someone digs shrimp with white chocolate sauce she's not picky.
Seivarden Vendaai
- People will notice she's male, but her body language etc doesn't conform to masculine norms and she comes across as androgynous. That's a bit hard to communicate with icons.
- Dark skin, brown eyes, short black hair. I'd love for her to get a cooler hairstyle, but the PB prefers very short hair.
- I'm going with the PB's height which is 180 cm.
- Is described as very attractive in canon.
- Canon repeatedly makes clear that her accent gives away that she's very upper class, and that she sounds like she's from an historical drama. This is by Radchaai standards of course, but I think at least the upper class part should translate to Fandom. In my head she sounds very much like the way Adjoa Andoh reads her in the audio books, which is British, although Ann Leckie, the writer, is American. Sadly I haven't found a link to that.
- Since she started going shopping with Lucifer she dresses really well, in styles ranging from masculine to feminine, always nicely fitting.
- I guess everyone knows this by now but she always wears gloves.
no subject
-Does not look like this icon. If he looks like this icon run away. If he looks like this icon you are trapped inside an evil video game and things are Very Bad.
-Always wears the mask unless explicitly stated otherwise. He leaks glowy gold light otherwise and that's not great. He can take it off if he's prepared.
-Not entirely corporeal, hence the glowing, but that only really came up in canon the once when he survived a very painful execution. He got better. It's fine.
-Sounds Australian, because Farscape
-6 ft tall (had to look it up) but definitely has a tendency to try and look smaller when things aren't going well.
-Overall not a very large guy.
-His head is usually shaved. When it isn't his hair is reddish-gold.
-His one eye is blue, not always clear in icons.
-Can sing (Paul Goddard released an album several years ago. Claudia Black sang on one song.). Doesn't usually. Hums when he's nervous.
-Usually wears clothes in browns and blacks. Occasionally throws some blue in there to mix it up. Definitely an earth tones sort of person.
-Overtips service employees. Canonically.
-Currently probably looking haunted and nervous because whee, being re-traumatized.
-Very attuned to death/dying.
-Has bits of all the people he's ever crossed over in his head. Memories, voices, etc. Usually has a decent handle on this at this point. Maybe not so much right now.
-Definitely a little on the twitchy/fidgety side. Often fiddles with the buckle at his neck holding the mask in place.
-Doesn't like the cold because it reminds him of an ice planet where many things went horribly wrong.
-Doesn't particularly like extreme heat either because it reminds him of Scarrans and Scarrans are terrible.
Jaina Solo
-Dark brown hair, about halfway down her back, and usually left down.
-Looks presentable but doesn't place much value on her appearance unless she has to.
-In scary good shape. She's mostly muscle. Girl trains like it's her job, which it sort of is.
-Her preferred clothes are simple, just a shirt and pants or flightsuits. She does dress up a little more when she needs to be official, though, and has decent fashion sense.
-However in Fandom, she learned as a teenager that every time something invades she gets guts all over her clothes and she's tired of ruining the stuff from back home. So it's totally common to see her in jeans and a tank top, usually black.
-No accent. Despite growing up on the same planet as Ben.
-Always has her lightsaber (purple!) clipped to her belt, unless otherwise stated. If she can't wear it, she brings a purse that she can hide it in.
-Basically just has a collection of faded scars. Most notably, there's a lightsaber scar on her stomach and some old burn scars on her back that have mostly healed up and faded.
-Doesn't actually have the dimples Sophia does.
-Brown eyes. One might call them brandy brown. Ad nauseum.
-Is 40, technically a couple years younger thanks to weird Fandom time stuff.
-Wears a wedding ring, but otherwise typically stays away from jewelry.
Marasiah Fel
-5'6" and in good shape, with great abs.
-Has long brown hair that's about midway down her back with a white streak right up at the front of her hairline, despite the icons. She usually either leaves her hair down or pulls it half back unless she's officially being empressy. Then it usually goes up. She also might have a simple headpiece on.
-Brown eyes, also despite the icons.
-Has the symbol of the Fel Empire tattooed on her lower back. The "yolt" is long removed.
-Her clothes are amazing, even her flightsuits are structured. There's a decent amount of white and off-the-shoulder stuff in her wardrobe.
-When she’s out on the mainland she tends to dress to blend in, so she might wear jeans or a dress she got in town. It's never really dressing down, though.
-Her Imperial Knight armor is red, and deflects lightsaber hits. Underneath are black pants and a shirt that’s basically a turtleneck, with black gloves, so all that’s exposed is her head.
-Has a lightsaber (silver!) on her whenever she's able to carry it, but she tends to keep it concealed.
-It's probably impossible to shake the poise off of her.
-No discernible accent. Even though she's Imperial and I feel she should be British, apparently it doesn't work that way.
-Isn't a big smiler. She's not adverse to smiling, but it's not an automatic reaction to most things.
-She has a great glare, though.
Lucille Sharpe
- Has very long dark brown hair and blue eyes.
- Is 163 cm tall.
- British accent (I have no idea whether Jessica Chastain does it well).
- Lucille always wear clothes from her own time, although slightly out of fashion and worn.
- Her movements are quite controlled, as if her corsets, fitted sleeves and long skirts were working together with the facade she keeps up to hide her feelings.
- She smiled more than you might expect, but it usually doesn't quite reach her eyes.
no subject
- I'm going with the PB's height, which is 180 cm.
- She is clearly female biologically, but has a very androgynous expression.
- Unless stated, her face is quite expressionless, and her voice is flat. She tries to make an effort to come across as more human, but usually forgets about it. Those attempts also aren't quite convincing.
- Has a terrible singing voice. Isn't happy about that, since she loves music and has spent two thousand years collecting songs, and now she's stuck with this body.
- Wears practical clothes. Jeans, T-shirts, hoodies, sneakers. Any holes are very neatly repaired.
- She might be a Radchaai ship, but she only wears gloves around Tisarwat, so she won't feel awkward.
Wei Wuxian
- 6' tall. Very fit and athletic.
- Has long, straight black hair. Usually wears the top part tied up with a red ribbon and has two strands of hair loose, framing his face. Fair skin, and dark brown eyes.
- Wears long robes in multiple layers (at least 3). Usually it's black over red. If he can't get black clothes, he'll pick the darkest alternative. He always wears long sleeves, usually with black bracers around his wrists.
- Always carries a black bamboo flute with a red tassel hanging from the end. This may be tucked in his belt. If it's in his hand, he's probably spinning it in his fingers.
- He’s from ancient ahistorical magical China. He's not going to be historically accurate and is, in fact, quite fond of potatoes. (He does not like turnips.)
- He is a TERRIBLE cook. Don't let him cook for you unless you think drowning everything in chili oil until it sets your mouth on fire is a good substitute for flavor. (He once fed his cooking to teens who had recently been poisoned and they said they preferred the poison.)
- He loves alcohol. He likes the taste of it, and will describe all the flavors of it, if you let him, but he also just likes to get drunk. He’d probably be interested in trying new substances if they were offered.
- If you catch him with his shirt off, he's got a brand on the left side of his chest.
- He is a demonic cultivator (necromancer) and has the ability to sense things about the dead, like if there’s a place where there’s been a lot of murders or if bodies have been dumped without proper burial rites. He also has some power over the living dead, so he could calm someone undead who’s in a rage or provoke them into violence. You can tell me if there’s anything I should avoid, or if you’re interested in playing with that. Otherwise, I’ll check with whoever’s involved if there’s something I think he’d be noticing.
- He’s bi and has a soulmate (of the “soulmates are made” variety, thank you Good Place) but they were not together before he came to Fandom and Wei Wuxian does not, at this point, expect to see Lan Zhan again.
- Any questions?
Edit: I forgot about the accent! The show is entirely in Mandarin with subtitles. Fandom magic does the translating, yes? He'll just have a standard American accent. I think the clothes and hair will sell Not From Around Here just fine.
Arabella Baylor
-Short and curvy. Say, 5'3"
-Biracial via one Black grandparent and four (...it's a long story. Illegal magical fuckery was involved.) white grandparents
-Curly, cornsilk blonde hair, blue eyes, and tan skin
-Dresses very casually, in things like hoodies and athletic shorts
-Texas accent
-Transforms into a giant monster (like, somewhere in the 50-70 foot range) known as "The Beast of Cologne."
--The Beast: "Stocky, huge, covered with long strands of jet-black fur, with muscled arms armed with talons, and a blunt head, shielded by a bone carapace. Two thick horns shielded the sides of its head, curving forward as if someone had taken two enormous rams horns and turned them sideways. Thick meat-eater's fangs filled its mouth. Its two round eyes glowed with yellow."
--Don't expect to see the Beast real often just because it won't, like, fit on our little island.

Adora
- around 5'9" so above average but not super-tall
- is built, you mightn't necessarily notice at first because of how she dresses, but she buff
- unless otherwise stated dresses <href="https://imgur.com/46ilde6">like this...complete with the somewhat ridiculous hair
- has a fairly generic American accent...despite being from space.
- if you can sense magic in particular, or metaphysical power in general, she's lit up like a torch
- because she can turn into a giant,
somtimesglowing sword lady, who's somewhere in the region of eight foot-plus tall, built like a brick outhouse and has amazing hair (even with the bump)
