MEME: Anon Love

It's been almost exactly 6 months since we last did this, and I've had my first good night's sleep in weeks. Time for the love meme!

1. Make a comment to this post with the name of your character/s.
2. Go through and leave anonymous comments in other characters' threads saying something nice about them. (This can be about the character or how they're played, or even something nice about the player; any of this is acceptable as long as they're nice things.)
3. Read the comments your characters get and feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

STEWART YOU WEIRDO.

(That's a compliment. I feel like we don't get enough characters this flavor of weird and weird-complicated. And 90 percent of his posts create wonderful visual sitcom scenes in my head. WONDROUS.)

Re: Stewart.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-08 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, a delightful weirdo and such a joy to read!

Re: Stewart.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-08 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay so we all know Stewart is great, so let me just take a moment to applaud you on the way you actually write up his dialogue. The alliteration, the rhyming, the various allusions...I struggle to keep up with him sometimes and you have to do it all the time. That's some rocket scientist level of wordplay and the sheer effort that it must take that you then make it look easy...

That shit's humbling, man. Just humbling. Goddamn.

Boc keeps making me want to use the puppy dog eyes emoji. I'm still in awe at you taking a bit character from Elden Ring of all things and making him such a gently funny, endearing part of the game with such deep characterization. (I'm not surprised, because it's you. But still!)

Re: Boc the Seamster.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-08 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Boc is an absolute sweetheart and you do such a great job with him. It's nice to see him slowly gaining a bit more confidence!

Re: Boc the Seamster.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-08 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I will literally burn down this game if you hurt him, hand to God.

And I do like how he is slowly coming out of his shell a bit. He dives right back in but every inch we get feels like such triumph!

I already miss Amaya. You do such a great job at drawing more and more depth out of a character that could have easily stayed static (grumpy and afraid of Certain Things as she is) and I have always loved reading her.

Re: Amaya Blackstone.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-08 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
One of the things I really enjoyed about reading Amaya was her whole "I'm going to change for the better but I'M NOT GONNA LIKE IT" vibe. That low-level humor made her super entertaining (and relatable!) but without making her silly.

Same, Amaya. I have too been forced to change for the better and I also DID NOT LIKE IT.

Lydia Bennet

(Anonymous) 2024-10-08 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't run in Lydia's circles in-game but every time I see her pop up something I'm immediately sitting up and interested. She has such a particular point of view and you work her strange mash-up of genres very well into the game in ways that are surprising and fun to read.

And on a shallow note I just love that icon of her tilting her head in confusion and disdain. I don't know why. It just feels sticky to my brain.

Donald Blake | Thor Odinson

(Anonymous) 2024-10-08 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I love Thor and Donald and so enjoy how you wrap these two very different characters together. I so loved the scene where Donald faced off against Tony while trying to get his medical license and the scene on the rooftop where Donald and Thor chatted together while looking at the stars was AMAZING.

Lydia Bennet

(Anonymous) 2024-10-08 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
God, Lydia is such a joy. I love the perspective you bring to every ping, and how you have her balancing her Regency sensibilities with the modern world is endlessly entertaining for me and really well done. She's easily a favorite, and I'm just so glad you've gone and brought her into the game to enjoy.

Gray

(Anonymous) 2024-10-08 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know why, but I really get a kick out of the way Sloth affects Gray's daily life. I know that's a canon thing, but you manage to find cool ways to play with it in game. And all of the threads with his family last weekend were great reading - the way the sins shape their personalities and the funny and the drama you can pull from that.

I have a real soft spot for characters with a unique dialogue voice. I've only watched clips of the show, but when I read Watts I hear that voice perfectly in my head. And the same goes for his body language. It takes writing skill to nail that down!

And he and Steven are so sweet. I appreciate the warm fuzzies on my feed.

Nell's journey has been such a fascinating and interesting and rewarding one to read, and I love that it's not even over yet, and I'm looking forward to see what else might be ahead of her as she continues to grow into her confidence and her abilities and into the world as a whole without sacrificing some of the more core tenants of what makes her who she is and so decidedly unique as a character.

I love how Hannibal has always found new ways to make himself meaningful to the game and its characters, even as things change. His sex class this semester is great and I'm glad to see him (and Jon) be so matter of fact about an important and nuanced topic.

I love seeing Lana's humanity come out more and more, beyond the matter-of-fact clever (ex-)Sith exterior. I don't know why it's always so funny to me when she gets frustrated by the world around her, but I love that you find ways to inject those little character beats into her posts and threads.

For all the cruelty of the world and apparently mobile browsers that make her scarce, I really love reading Steph every time you do get a chance to bring her out a bit. She's just such a warm character with some great depth and a personality that makes her really easy to relate to. And, of course, you do great with her and I just always love seeing her around.

Keeping in mind that I know nothing about the game that Cal is from: I find him such a wonderful and fascinating character. His struggle between being attached and his devotion to being a Jedi is well thought out and engaging to read.

Do I pin his conversations with Arden so I can read their interactions? Yes. Yes I do. But I love to see the passion you have for him as well, which is clear with how you write him.

Also: The whole psychometric reading he did on Arden over the weekend was fantastic! I so enjoyed seeing him in Arden's plot and can't wait to see what you'll do with that paring next!
